Roundbar located in the hotel was great! Good food, friendly and prompt service from the bar. Their homepage claims there is a free shuttle service available for guests to use which was part of the reason I chose to stay there. I was attending a play that started at 6p.m. The theater was a 5 minute drive away. I asked the front desk at 5:10 if it was […] possible to use the shuttle and was told that if it is there then yes, but if not, there was no way to get in touch with the driver to get an eta. I went to wait at the door it picks up and drops off at. There were people already waiting when I arrived at the door, and they claimed they had been waiting for 15 mintues already. 15 minutes later when it still hadn't arrived, I decided to take the people mover. While waiting at the people mover for about 5 to 7 mins those same people arrived and said the shuttle still hadn't arrived. It is a ridiculous notion that a hotel of this caliber cannot locate where their shuttle is to give their patrons an estimated time of arrival. Cell phones exists, and two way radio's exist. They should not have a shuttle service listed as an amenity if it is next to impossible to use. Read more

The only problem I had with hotel was I left my ID and a pair of shoes in the room and when I call and ask about my stuff when I made it home wich is 2 hours away I was told that I didn't leave anything in the room or they couldn't find my stuff !

There's a reason a always stay at the ft shelby doubletree-everything is always perfect! right from the beginning, Joseph at the front desk greeted us with a smile [and a cookie] and answered every question we had promptly and accurately. he is ALWAYS this way [polite and well-spoken] no matter the concern/question. i drove 6 hours in a blizzard and […] Anthony from the lounge made me a fresh delicious pot of coffee poste haste-he also was very good during our visit after our concert-very friendly and accomodating. and shuttle bus driver, Courtney, was MORE than accomodating. when i left my bag in his van-he turned around IMMEDIATELY to bring it right back to me because he knew i needed it for my concert! the valet folks are quick clean & polite as well.i never find one thing out of place when i stay at the ft shelby and every single time i always get exactly what i asked for-no bait & switch, as some other hotel do. when i visit the doubletree i KNOW i will be well cared for safe and happy. the place is clean quiet and convenient to any concert venue in detroit. my only [very small] nit picky thing-they changed from neutrogena bath products to some other stuff. i LOVED the neutrogena cosmetics, but i will stay anyway! and wolfgang puck-your coffee sucks dude! get your coffee from the bear claw in the lobby-it's way better. the pillows are WONDERFUL. i'm a loyal Doubletree guest in any city i choose to visit. We had the most amazing stay. The staff at the Double Tree was incredibly gracious and the room was really nice. The saddest part is Detroit city. I just wish I had the means to restore the city to what it once was. We had a fabulous dinner and cocktails just down the street and felt as if we were back in time! Detroit is home to this underground conservation […] of the cocktail scene and they really know how to put something together, it's an art really. The Double Tree was close to a great deal in terms of walking distance and just a short inexpensive can ride away from the rest. Rooms were clean, staff were all polite and helpful. Valet parking added $23 to the cost unexpectedly. In this neighborhood you would only want to park via valet. Lobby bathroom was pretty dirty. The hotel restaurant was good.

I have no complaints about the hotel the room was clean, the staff was great and the valet was very good especially when we were coming and going very often. The location was close to everything that we did that weekend. We will definitely stay again.

The staff was great and location was perfect. Only advice is to do any shopping for incidentals before you get close to hotel. With that said I will definitely stay here when I am in town for events.

I booked a suite & it wasn't that great. The bedroom was clean, neat & neutral. Nothing really special about the room, especially the view whiched faced the parking lot. The king size bed seemed to take up the entire room however the bed was comfy and clean. The bathroom was clean and neat. The living room was my biggest problem. It did not have a mini […] fridge or a microwave, and in my opinion theses are basic suite essentials. It was a poor suite! The nicest things about the hotel is their fast service when you need something, the valet was nice but slow, oh and they give you hot soft baked cookies. My on going issue with the hotel is that I left my blanket there and I have been calling them for over a week to housekeeping, leaving messages and they won't even call me back or answer the phone. This hotel was very nice. The staff was courteous and quick with our check in. The room was very nice and spacious. The shuttle was prompt and the driver was a lot of fun! I had to ask for a cot, which we then waited 4 hours for as they "checked" to see if one was available. Then, my friend got mugged a few blocks away at 8pm on a Thursday night. We called the front desk for the shuttle one evening and were told it would there in 30 minutes. Sure enough the shuttle arrived in 30 minutes and then we were told the shuttle had to make a contracted run and we would have to wait another 30 minutes.
