This hotel was a last minute decision, and one of the worst. To start... NO ELEVATORS!? Carrying a 50lb suitcase and a 15lb backback up all those stairs was brutal. It's 2013 and the only way to get wife in the hotel is in the reception desk area, which as an american in italy was very inconvenient. The bathroom flooded out into the room everytime someone took a shower. The air in the room was not circulating or refreshing at all. The only positive to this hotel was the location although the parking sucked. I will probably never stay here again.
"Old and noisy at night"

Clean but very old : everything (carpets, furniture) seems worn out or in bad condition (toilets) but the bed was OK. We stayed in room 526, next to a very noisy ventilation which was on all night and was disturbing even if we closed the window. The price (high season) posted on the door of the room is absolutely amazing : 150 euros per night ! The breakfest, not included, is minimal.
"Clean, basic, great location"

Just come back from a 4 night stay at the Hotel Deco and found it to be a clean, comfortable hotel in a great location. Yes, it is basic but when you have Florence to explore you don't want to be spending your time in the hotel. The room was sparse but clean, comfortable bed and decent sized bathroom. The room we had did suffer from some noise from the A/C units but nothing that was too intrusive. It could also benefit from a quick lick of paint but, really, that's insignificant. Good, simple continental breakfast set us up for the days out exploring, and the free wifi helped us plan itineries for the next day. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, giving advice for places to eat etc. Would certainly recommend for a short break as a base. Only thing I would say is that if you have mobility issues it may not be for you as the stairs up to reception/rooms are located on the second floor/upwards and there's no lift bar a chair lift that goes only partially the way.
"Clean budget hotel conveniently close to SMN station"

We stayed here for 4 days in September 2013. We chose this hotel since it was a 5-minute walk to the SMN station and a great option since we used SMN as our starting point almost every day. The rooms were spartan and clean, our bathroom actually seemed quite large compared to the room and cleaner. The staff is helpful and friendly. We tried the continental breakfast only once since we had to leave earlier the other days and just ate at the bakery across the street. The things that made me unhappy were: 1) The mattress in our double-size bed was actually two single mattresses put together. They were also thin and old, and that did not help make for a very comfortable sleep the first two nights. The other nights, we were too tired to care. 2) The noise level was high at times and one of the nights we stayed had a 'fashion night out' going on in Florence. Keeping the windows closed during the mild weather helped damp down the noise. Regardless we were still able to sleep through the night. 3) The internet was down for the last 2 days of our stay and the staff didn't seem to know when it would be back up. All things considered, I rate Hotel Deco 4 stars because of its proximity to the station and sights, cleanliness, and the price.
"Budget hotel in a best location."

There is nothing fantastic about this hotel except for the location and at the same time nothing much wrong with this. Room was spacious and the bathrooms were clean. Staff were helpful although they didn't find my reservation and kept me waiting in the lobby for an hour. Internet was not working and they kept on saying that I might have booked in a different hotel of theirs from which they spun off. Ridiculous!!! Internet didn't work throughout the two days I stayed there. My rating is three and half but since there is no rating of three and half and I didn't have any other inconvenience and didn't really had to use the internet, I give it a four.
"Basic budget hotel, slightly better than a hostel."

The hotel is in a great location. That is the one big advantage of staying here. It is however shabby and run down, and up a couple of flights of stairs, as mentioned in several other reviews. The AC barely worked, not really cooling the air, but only moving it slighly. My wife would not walk on the carpeting without her shoes. Light sleepers may havea problem with the noise from the street. The staff was friendly and helpful, in spite of being overwhelmed at times. I wouldn't stay there again, orrecommend it, as there are many other hotel choices nearby.

We had the three person room which was clean and spacious. The location is the best part since its a few minutes walk from the duomo and the train/bus station. The only minor advice is to make sure your luggage isn't too heavy since theres no lift. Overall we had a great stay for three nights and its perfect for people who wants somewhere practical!
"Nice and clean hotel in an excellent location, bad spring mattress."

Nice and clean hotel in an excellent location. For five euros more you can get a good satisfy breakfast. However, the major weakness was the old spring mattress that I felt it every spring and a spring. so the sleep quality wasn`t one of the best one.
"Clean and basic budget hotel"

We stayed at Hotel Deco for two nights in August 2013. The hotel is in a fantastic location (five minute walk from Piazza del Duomo, and Santa Maria Novella train station), although it can be a little hard to spot, as the entrance is just a doorway with a small sign above. The hotel starts on the third floor, and there is no lift, so I wouldn’t advise staying here if you have mobility problems. The décor in the hotel is a little dated, and could do with an upgrade throughout. The door to our room was a little stiff, and the paint on the walls had faded a little, but it was clean and perfectly adequate for our needs. The room and bathroom was larger than we expected, and our room had a view of the Campanile from the large windows. The bed was a little tired and well-worn, but comfortable enough for a two-night stay. Breakfast was basic, but perfectly acceptable for a two-star continental. The breakfast area can get a little cramped and congested when it’s busy, but this is to be expected. The WiFi in the breakfast area is great, although it doesn’t stretch to cover the rooms (this was explained to us at check-in, and wasn’t a problem). Overall, this is a nice little hotel, and better than we expected for one of the cheapest in Florence. We would stay here again.
"Basic hotel in great location"

We stayed her for two nights in very hot August. The location is the key selling point of this hotel as it is minutes walk from the station and walking distance of the sights. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast were very good. The room was decent enough when you want somewhere to sleep. Sadly the air con was broken which made the room intolerably hot but staff were deeply apologetic and offered us free drinks to make up for it. It is ideal if you want a cheap, well-located hotel for a few nights.
