Good clean room, comfortable bed, nice TV, hot shower, convenient to Spirit Lake Resort Area, restaurants, and shopping. Considering the resort area and the prices of other accomodations in the area, Plaza 1 was completely acceptable to us. The only downside (which we totally expected for the price) was the Continental breakfast (coffee and pastries […] only). We skipped it in lieu of the American Restaurant nextdoor and had a terrific hot meal at a good price. One note: this is a 60's style MOTEL ... where you park right in front of your door ... with limited ammenities ... not a HOTEL ... if you can live with that, then this place is just fine ... if not, look for "posh" elsewhere BUT EXPECT TO PAY OUT THE NOSE FOR IT IN THIS AREA. The hotel was fine, especially for the price. The towels were a bit thin and worn. The room was clean but had a bit of an odor in it. If you are looking for a place to sleep, this hotel is perfect. Don't expect anything fancy, just the bare necessities.

I enjoyed my stay, especially considering the cheap price. The room was clean, and the non-smoking moniker was accurate--I have a very sensitive nose to a smoky room. I was in the area, and I needed a quiet place to study and write, and this fit the bill pretty well. Strengths: my room had a nice, large refrigerator and a serviceable microwave. The […] bed was comfortable, there was a small desk plus a nice table with two chairs. The shower and sink were adequate, and there was an ironing board and hair dryer. There was also nice exercise equipment in a separate room, which I used several times. Could have been better: The recliner was not very comfortable at all--it had been "sprung" long before I arrived. It would have been better to have a larger desk to work on, but it was sufficient. There was some pretty good partying going on my first night, but it calmed down pretty well after 10 PM, which was acceptable. I was not impressed with the breakfast--no fruit, mediocre coffee, one pre-sweetened cereal, and a few pre-packaged danishes is not a healthy breakfast in my humble opinion. The only thing that was unacceptable was the internet connection: I was able to connect okay, but I never got speeds over 100 KB/second, pretty substandard anymore. It was annoying to be called "honey" and "sugar" by the manager, although I suppose that is normal talk for some people, designed to make them feel more at home. Maybe I'm a little more reserved, but I felt it was a little too familiar. Overall, for me in a single, it was totally worth the price. For a family on the road who arrives late and leaves early, it would be acceptable, though it in no way competes with larger hotel chains, but it would be tough to beat what you get for the price.
