Hotel was nice. BUT please do not expect anything resembling good food in Childress. GO to a chain, or just open a can. DON"T ASK THE DESK CLERK. UGH!

Surprisingly nice Hampton Inn. Very clean and the staff was quite friendly. The room was quiet and the location was convenient. The only drawback was that the room was advertised as 2 queen sized beds. This was not the case. We had two full-sized beds. I don't know if the hotel offered queen-sized beds, but my family was too exhausted to go back downstairs […] and haggle for a new room. Hampton is one of our favorite hotel chains and we stay in them often. This property was one of the nicest. It appeared to be pretty new. The room was very spacious, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was huge. We had the usual free wifi in the room and the air conditioner worked great in keeping the room nice and cool. My only complaint about […] Hampton in general is that they have stopped putting microwaves and fridges in all rooms. They also have stopped providing guest laundry facilities. The hotel was great and so were the staff. The only complaint was the bed, it was clean, but it was VERY stiff. I had a hard time sleeping and woke up hurting and so did my wife. Everything else about the hotel was great. Great pool/spa, breakfast selection and location.

Stayed for a weekend while in town for a school reunion. Room was nice and clean. Had no problems. Several baseball teams in town, but it was quiet and no problems. My husband did say that several breakfast options were empty and not refilled.

Surely the nicest hotel in Childress. Great bed. Couple of problems; loud talking in the hall was not the hotel's fault, but the doors are not very soundproof. Also one of those stupid little one-cup coffee makers. Really good breakfast, staff was very nice.

This Hampton Inn is new and very nice and clean. The room is well appointed and the beds comfortable. I called a few hours ahead, but they told me they did not have any rooms on the top floor available and had me a couple rooms from the elevator. There was noise above me and the doors, in the hall near my room, were opening and slamming late at night […] and by 6:00 am in the morning. They are so loud!! Consequently, I did not have a good night's sleep at all. Not what you need, when you are driving for 16 hrs!!!! Also seemed like they have an override on the A/C. I could not get the fan to stay on, to try to drown out some of the noise. Will call sooner the next time, in hopes of getting a quieter room location or try the Holiday Inn Express, which is also new and very near this location............... Read more

This place is 1/2 block off the main highway and easy to get in and out. It's also next door to a Walmart for those that might need to stop and stock up on stuff while on the road. It's very clean and has a very competent, friendly and efficient staff. Very comfortable beds. A very good place to stay if you're on the road looking for a stop over. From […] the looks of things, this place is good for families since there were a lot of them staying here. Breakfast is included with lots of cereals, basic pastries/bagels/toast, as well as scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes. They have a self serve waffle iron that's easy to use and puts out a decent plain waffle. The very friendly staff keeps everything very clean in the dining area. There was a crying baby in the room next to us, but when we closed the door we couldn't hear it, so the noise level is well controlled. There seemed to be more than adequate parking in the lot at the front of the hotel. There are plently of national fast food franchises in the area, as well as a few good local spots (judging solely by the number of cars). Read more

The housekeeping was well below par with other Hampton's I have stayed in , I arrived around 0845 pm after a long day on the road and there was nothing decent or healthy to eat still open (my fault for thinking that Childress would have at least a restaurant open til 1000 pm on a Saturday night) so this sent me scrambling over to wal -mart ( de-facto […] truck stop at wal mart ,don't get a room on the southeast corner of this facility if you want to sleep.! The room , while not exactly dirty was not exactly clean either ,there was a suspicious stain on the desk chair and the toilet seat was up and the floor in the bath room was gritty . My advice would be to pass this Hampton by and opt for the longer drive to Amarillo ,where at least you can get a meal and hopefully they will have adequate housekeeping. Read more

I made a mistake and booked for the wrong date. It was a weekend and there was no manager at the hotel. After working with Expedia to get it corrected without any results, I called the hotel personally, explaining the error, and they were so gracious and corrected it for me. Great experience!! Nice, clean room with a comfortable bed.

Staff were very curteous and helpful. I rented two rooms and ours didn't have towels, so I called the desk and they promptly brought some up. Our shower also wasn't very hot, but the other room was perfect according to our children. Buffet breakfast was very nice, room was clean, and in very good condition.

We were travelling from Denver to central TX and had stayed in Amarillo on the way up. Instead of an old dingy hotel, this one in Childress was new and very, very clean. The pool was a bit over-chlorinated but my family still had a great time. It is next to a Wal-Mart which is nice to pick up travel snacks, etc. The town of Childress has one main road […] which is the highway which provide fast food but nothing else. The only downside to the hotel was the front desk attitude was not very friendly. They were not rude either but no smiling faces! Still, this is an excellent stop and deserves more than the 2.5 stars given by Hotels.com. Read more
