"Great location and superb shower!"
This is not your typical hotel. Upon arriving, the exterior made me think I made a mistake. It's an older hotel and it shows its age. Parking is antiquated in the back, very much like an apartment complex. With that said, it is centrally located and just a short walk from restaurants and shops. The rooms are clean and the shower is awesome! Most business […] travelers would agree that a good shower makes up for a lot! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok for quick overnight stay."
The best thing about this hotel is the location. Just a few blocks from The Grove/Farmer's Market, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. My main reason for choosing this hotel was that it included parking. The room itself could use some work. While it was clean, the small table in the room had a table cloth with holes in it. The carpet was dated and felt like […] it was laid over a concrete slab, no padding used. The tiny in room refrigerator wasn't plugged in so I had to wait for it to get cold after I plugged it in. "convenient location for the price"
Hotel was basic when compared to LaQuinta, Comfort Inn, Best Western, etc. The location to The Grove and Farmer's Market more than made up for the basic anemnities.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Given the worst room"
We were given the room next to the lobby, by the stairs, and facing the front where the driveway is, so there was no privacy and it was not a quiet room. The bathroom floor was dirty and the room had a faintly unpleasant odor. Parking was difficult. The location was great, and it's right across the street from a Coffee Bean. I wouldn't stay there again, […] especially considering what you get for the cost. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"not a bad place"
plus - I like the comfort of the furniture. sleigh bed with a big pillow top mattress, real wood dressers. kind of like staying at my grandmothers. negative - internet connection was slow and dropped often.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would not recommend"
Hotel is next to a busy street, could hear the traffic in the room. Very small coffee pot in the room. My husband went to make a pot of coffee however when he went to lift the lid to put in the water he found that the lid was stuck shut and appeared to have not been cleaned in a long while. My husband and I paid $25 for an additional person and expected […] that we would receive towels for that person, either given to us at the time of checking or already be in the room as I paid for the room on Expedia. No towels given to us at check in nor were in the room. Not worth the $167 we paid for the room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Room right by front desk, must have had gap in window.could hear the restaraunt customers and street traffic all night. Room was clean, small but the bathroom was really nice and new. parking in the alley , covered parking.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Bed and Shower Only"
If you only need a place to sleep and take a shower, then this place is fine. It looks like the bathroom has been refurbished and updated. There were stains on the carpet and the AC unit was so loud I could barely sleep. One night maximum stay is recommended. Don't take the family here for your LA vacation. The staff is very friendly though.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice overnight stay. Convenient location."
Needed a place for a overnight layover. This place fit the bill. Centerly located to restaurants. Staff is very friendly. Cute bistro cafe right next door. Room small but clean. Bed is stated to be a queen size but seem more like a double. Had trouble with TV and direct tv box. Said they were switching over to this new format so understandable that […] all kinks not fully worked out. Free wireless internet was a great plus. Only downside was the parking. Small slots which cars seem to take up two spaces leaving even more limited parking. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Don't stay here!"
We booked this hotel because of the reasonable price per the good recommendations via Hotels.com. We got our room and discovered within a day that the door didn't lock, there was no cold water in our room and the AC did not work and the mattress WAS the worst mattress I ever slept on in a hotel. The staff was nice enough and switched our room since […] the lock did not work. Yes, we had hot and cold water and AC and a locking door in the new room but still the mattress was terrible. The pluses...location. I would not stay here again and don't recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent LA hotel"
The Park Plaza Lodge Motel is well run with an excellent and friendly staff. The motel is clean and well located for shopping, the LACMA & La Brea tar pits, & the Farmers Market. I highly recommend it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient hotel in a pretty good neighborhood"
I needed a hotel close to La Brea but south of the "Sunset Zoo". Never would have found this hotel on my own but it was clean, quiet and not bad for the room rate (I'd tell you what it was but then they wouldn't post my review). "Walked in and Checked out"
Ended up checking out the moment we got to the room. The neighborhood did not seem safe. Your car is parked in the back of the "hotel" next to walls covered in graffiti. We ended up leaving and booking another hotel. You walked into the rooms and everything felt dirty and the beds were horrible and the pillows were as if someone placed a piece of cardboard […] into the pillow case they were so flat. I am all for a cheap room, and honestly don't look for a 4 star hotel. I need a place to sleep where I feel safe, the rooms are clean, and I do not want to feel as though I'm going to come back to find my car vandalized. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old, but clean, comfortable, and friendly."
The hotel is old (1960) and only a couple dozen rooms, but it gave us more than we asked for. The rooms have been completed remodeled, and are very clean. The bed was rather small for a queen, and quite firm, but the room was quiet at night, so we slept well. We did not use the wall-mounted flat screen T.V., because the free WiFi was fast enough to […] support streaming Netflix movies on our laptop. The window air conditioner unit was a bit noisy. but it blasted cold air to cool us off quickly. The mini-refrigerator was handy, and the room had a safe, which is very nice for storing valuables. Parking was in covered carports, adjacent to the hotel -- not a dedicated parking structure, but our new Mustang GT was safe overnight. The hotel is only two stories, and the second floor is accessible by stairs only --- no elevator. You MUST try the cafe in the hotel; the food is incredibly good (and we're foodies). Get the lamb kabobs for a real treat. Free pita bread and tomato hummus while you wait. The Shiraz wine was quite nice and priced reasonably, considering the healthy pours. The neighborhood was decent; actually better than expected for West L.A. Thanks to hotels.com, check-in took less than a minute. No hidden charges or additional fees for anything. No need to put your credit card on file with the hotel for "incidental charges." NICE! The service staff was exceptionally friendly and very helpful. "Good price and even better service."
I just want to say I don't write to many reviews but I came on , logged on just so I can write this one review at this hotel. I really enjoyed staying here every time I come to la. First its not too expensive and its close to everything! and walking distant to the groove. They are who they are, they don't try to be fancy or super cool. They are simple […] yet convenient . I left my camera in the room and checkout hours ago to go to an event. I came back to get my car and went to the parking lot and a staff I think is name was Ronnie followed me all the way to the to the back! just to give me my camera back. I was like wow these people I must write a review! anyways just cant say enough. Thank you so much you guys are so awesome! and I look forward to going back every time I visit L. A. "Very comfortable for the price and great location."
The receptionists were very nice. There is parking behind the building under a garage. There is a cafe that is right next to the hotel, a Coffee Bean right across the street, a Trader Joes down the block. I stayed here for one night to go to a concert at the El Rey Theater - which is half a mile away. It is in a very nice area of LA. The halls are a […] little creepy, but we had no problem. The rooms are old but the bathrooms and shower are very nice and spacious, beds were comfy. No problems! Will stay again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Best of a bad bunch"
Not much: The basket that held the coffee condiments was mildewed. The windows were grungy, stains/burns on the carpet. "Close to LACMA and La Brea Tar Pits"
This hotel was a second choice. However, I was very pleased to find a pool with no other guests in it. The restaurant next door was great, as was the Coffee Bean across the street. I walked to LACMA and the La Brea Tar Pits. In fact, the whole neighborhood is easily walkable and shouldn't be intimidating or scary to anyone. There is a park just a couple […] of blocks away, too. Probably the worst thing about it was a slight urine smell. I kept my window open to eliminate that. I suspect that someone with a pet had been there before me. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Hotel, Good Location"
First Visit to Los Angeles. Hotel location was pretty good, since it's only 3 blocks from The Grove and Farmer's Market where we picked up the Tour Buses. "Very Good Value"
The Park Plaza Lodge is centrally located in the Miracle Mile section of west L.A. (not to be confused with the city of West L.A.) near the museums, The Grove, the Farmers Market, and the La Brea Tar Pits. "Good for what I needed"
The good: It's an old building but my room's bathroom was updated. The bath and bed linens were much softer than the usual hotel products. Even the toilet paper was very soft! Direct TV has lots of channels to choose from, but without movies. I talked with 3 staff people during my stay and they were each wonderful and friendly. Early that morning they […] promised they would try to have my room ready for early check-in, but it didn't happen, so I had to work that glitch out for myself. Not so good: Parking space is slim. Just barely enough room to open a vehicle door before meeting another vehicle. My vehicle's mirror was pushed out when I came out the next day. But it was free! The air conditioner is low and I had to literally be head almost on the floor to read the functions. But it worked great and that's what's important. I stayed here in hopes of walking the advertised 1/2 mile to CBS studio, but when I drove around I realized the real 1/2 mile is longer than the 1/2 mile I know. I ended up driving and incurring an exorbitant cost at The Grove parking garage. The restaurant below my window had a loud party of several people who stayed until closing. The 3 pillows were completely flat. All in all, my stay was good for what I wanted. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Did not get room we requested"
Overall, it was an adequate room. Nothing fancy. Just frustrating that we booked 2 double beds, and the only thing available was 1 queen and they set up a cot. When we asked for a discount because of the mix up, they said they couldn't do anything about it since we booked online.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's all about the location"
We stayed here because it's within reasonable walking distance to our son, plus it has free parking. Otherwise, there's not much exciting to say about it. It was a room with a bed, a toilet, shower and sink, a TV and a fridge, which was nice for keeping water bottles cold. All adequate for a place to sleep, but not much else to mention. It was clean […] and quiet enough. The window mounted air conditioner struggled with the hot temperatures in LA that weekend, making the room barely passable during the day. And it's a good thing we didn't have any heavy luggage, because the walk up the steps to the 2nd floor room wouldn't have been fun. There are virtually no amenities associated with the hotel, other than the free wifi, which worked adequately. It's an easy walk to The Grove, the Farmer's Market, Nordstroms etc. I don't know too many of my friends who would want to stay here. It brought back memories of younger days when we couldn't afford anything nice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

My husband and I stayed here for four days. The hotel is very close to everything in the Hollywood area. The people at the desk were very nice. There were safes in the rooms, again we did not […] use and I think you had to pay to get the key for it. "Harassing, locked main door at night (no access)"
got a weird and demanding call when I was on an important call demanding in a very rude tone that even though my card was processed and showing as pending on my credit card account, that I had to stop what I was doing and come down so they could rerun my card because their computers crashed for a short period. Said I was on an important business call […] and they rudely demanded me to come down to the front desk. What if I wasn't in my room and at the beach. I left hotel because felt a weird energy and when came back the main door was locked with a padlock. Had to wait 20 min at 6am after sleeping at a friends place for someone to finally see me to let me in so I could retrieve my shoes I had left there. The staff here is awesome. The rooms are big with clean roomy bathrooms. For a travel lodge I have seen worse. The security is great so there are no creatures of the night walking the halls.
