This apartment was great and located CLOSE to the subway. It was very nice. I am glad that previous guests had mentioned getting the key code before you arrive. Also, mind the subway instructions lest you arrive on the wrong side of the road. There is a washer, the floors in the bathroom were heated and the lodging was nice and roomy. Check with Trip […] Advisor for close by restaurants. Old town is about 15 minutes from this apartment and we felt very safe. I would caution anyone booking to make sure you read the rules regarding extra charges. My service fees ended up being approximately 2/3rds again the cost of the room over 3 days. I discovered late that we would not be arriving on the date we originally thought and there was no way to cancel that night. These two things made this hotel a little less than desirable but... overall a nice place to stay. Read more

This is a wonderful place for a stay. I was here 3 nights, and it seemed like home. Very comfortable and spacious, with very tasteful decorations and art adorning the apartment. I was in Elisabeth, which is on the top floor. That means a total of 71 steps up from the street level, if that is an issue for a guest. There is no lift. The kitchen is small […] but quite well appointed, including coffee, tea, sugar, cooking pots, dishes, etc. The WC is a bit tiny, but the shower is clean and comfortable and it is very nice to have a washing machine and a heated towel rack to dry things on. The bedroom is spacious and quiet, and the bed is comfortable. The living room has TV and DVD and music player, fold-out couch with coffee table, dining table, desk/table, and daybed, so the unit can easily accommodate 4 or 5 people. The view from the living room is onto a street and the Danube River - very beautiful. The U-Bahn is only about 20 meters from the front door - extremely convenient! The only drawback was that the apartment manager let himself into the apartment 2 different times while I was there, which was a bit of a surprise. Read more

This was a great place to stay (we stayed in the Apartment Valerie which is on the ground floor) as we had our two children with us and needed more space and didn't want to eat out all the time. I also wanted the convenience of a washer, and this helped us tremendously to have one right in our room(s). Very clean, and convenient. The kitchen had all […] the dishes & cookware we needed. We even microwaved meals one night! The welcome orange juice & water (and chocolates) were also a nice touch. There is a grocery store (Billa) within about a 10 to 15 minute walk too, so very convenient. I picket this place in part as others talked about how close it was to the U-bahn. It certainly was, it was less than a half a block away. When we first arrived in Vienna, we didnt' figure out how to get above ground to the entrance that was right by the hotel at first (Herminnegasse), but with a little help from someone working with the transportation system, they helped us figure out how to get to the right exit the next night. Depending if you come off the U4 or U2 line, finding the right exit was a little confusing. Be sure to look up on the wall for the street signs when you get off the U-bahn! We had to go down to where you catch the U2 line and walk across this area to get to the right exit. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again. This apartment is about a 20-min walk to the beginning of the part of Vienna you want to see, but there is a train stop that is literally at the end of the block and Vienna trains are fast, reliable, and frequent even on weekends. You can buy a 24-hour ticket that will allow you non-stop access, and you can zip around to just about anywhere in Vienna […] in less than 10 or 15 mins. Just be careful to note the name of the exit that leads you to the street the apartment is on - Herminengasse. Otherwise you'll come out of the wrong street exit and you won't know where you are. The apartment is large, clean, and comfortable. There is a washing machine for your clothes, and free wifi. The owner Sonja is very polite and helpful. As long as you have a cell phone to communicate with her, you'll be alright. I will definitely recommend this unit to people. Read more

Our family (2 adults, 2 tweens) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Appartements Hermine. The location was great, the amenities were perfect and the owner was gracious, kind and helpful. The apartment (Sophie) was clean and it was fantastic to have a kitchen and a washing machine. There is a grocery store just around the corner and the U-Bahn stop is meters […] away, although walking into the center of Vienna is just as easy (15 minutes). The owner left lovely touches in the apartment, like fresh flowers, chocolate and water for our arrival, which is such a simple gesture, but really went a long way in adding to the experience. One thing: If you decide to book the apartments, please READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and CALL THE OWNER BEFORE YOU ARRIVE, so she can give you instructions on getting the key. We had to help a family out who didn't and were standing outside the apartment not knowing what to do - I'm sure that's a frustrating situation for both sides. It's not a hotel, and there is not a front desk, so she is usually not around to let you in and calling helps you access the apartment on your schedule. However, she does stop by to say hello, which is great. We highly recommend Appartements Hermine to anyone who wants a laid-back, relaxed, feels like you're home experience. Read more

We had a wonderful stay in this apartment. The unit is very well located, on a quiet street, right next to the subway station and in the center of the city. The only thing i was not infomed about our stay is that we had to contact the apartment owner before the arrival to arrange receipt of the unit key. If you don't have a mobil phone to call at the […] moment you get there you will have no access to the building. There is no reception desk or nobody to ask about. I strongly suggest you get in touch with the unit owner before traveling. She solved my problem by calling the hotel manager, but the moments before that were quite anxious. I am not blaming the hotel, and I am grateful for the old lady, but I am saying other quests that CONTACT the hotel beforehand. Although it was on the opposite side of the Danube Canal from the old city, it was only 1/2 block to a bridge and even less to the nearest Ubahn stop. Very nice place to stay...when we arrived, our hosts had left us roses, jams, OJ, bottled water and most importantly, chocolates. We were on the third floor, and there's no elevator, so we had to haul our suitcases up and down 4 flights of stairs, but that was ok. We had to ask a local on the street to borrow their cell phone and make a call for us to get the lock box access code...perhaps they could have given us this after we made the reservation? The apartment was perfectly and elegantly furnished, had everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and was in a good location - right near the metro stop. These small touches went a long way to make it truly feel like a home away from home for the short time we were there. The apartments are conveniently located less than a block from the U-bahn and a short walk (5 min) to the historic Inner Stadt. The building itself is nestled in a quiet neighborhood located on the "other side" of the Danube Canal. Do not let the location on the map fool you, the historic Inner Stadt is highly accessible and so are the outer regions […] such as Grinzing in "wine country", the airport, the S-bahn (high speed train), etc. The apartment itself (Elisabeth) was tastefully decorated with new furnishings and newly renovated kitchen, shower, and toilet rooms. One word of caution: the apartment is located on the 4th floor (called the 3rd floor in Europe) and there is no elevator. This was not a problem for us. The owner of the apartment was very helpful with our questions and needs even prior to arrival. Our emails were answered promply. If you don't speak German, don't worry, Sophie's English was perfect. An easy ride to and from the airport - about 50 metres from the U2/4 train services (Schottenring). A reasonable walk to the Vienna main central tourist area and Shottenring is one of the stops on the ring tram route. The rooms were a little dingey and could have done with some renovation. The kitchen had the usual amenities and there was also access to a washing machine in the bathroom. There's a supermarket only a stone's throw away and you can take strolls by the canal waterfront only seconds from the apartment. We were in Apartment Elizabeth on the top floor (3rd, or 4th if you count the American way). It is a fair few stairs, especially with luggage, but we managed. Other apartments are on lower floors. There was a small double bedroom, which our daughter (12) used, and we used the lounge area which had a double sofa bed and a day bed. Our 16 son dropped […] out of the trip art the last minute but we could have coped. Other apartments are larger. There was a small kitchenette, but with a full sized fridge freezer, dishwasher and both an oven and microwave, and all utensils. The small Billa supermarket around the corner provided us with a breakfast of rolls, juice, cheese, coffee and yoghurt every day. The bathroom had a decent shower and also a washing machine - not sure if it was also a dryer, but we didn't use it anyway. The lounge has satellite TV with a few English news channels. There is also a DVD player and music centre. There is also free wifi. For a cold December, the apartments was nicely warm. It was also right by the Schottenring U-bahn station, which we started to use when the 15 minute walk into town began to become a little tiresome in the cold. When walking into town, it's better to use the Saltztorbrucke (bridge) than the closer Augartenbrucke, as the former deposits one more centrally. One could stay much more centrally, but not for the price or with the facilities for a family. Read more

Who wants a hotel when you can have a lovely spacious apartment instead! OK, there is no lift, but it has all the charm and quirkyness of living in town with a shop around the corner. I'm just back from a few days in Vienna with my mum and 2 of my daughters. I booked the Hotel through Hotels.com and was delighted with our accommodation. I was a little concerned when I read the confirmation booking and that I needed to call the owner 3 days before our arrival to arrange a check in, given my language barrier, however, the owner spoke […] English and was very helpful. Picking up the key was easy and the owner was flexible with times. A couple of hours after our arrival, the owner called round to make sure everything was ok and this was a lovely personal touch. The apartment was 3 storeys high, but apart from carrying the suitcases, this wasn't a problem. The apartment was in a relatively quiet location and about a 10 minute walk into town. The underground station - Shottenring was only 30 seconds walk away. The apartment was well equipped for a short or long stay with plenty of room. It was tastefully decorated, clean and tidy. The only thing I would suggest, is that the shower has a little attention. The hose was leaking which reduced the power to the shower. I think this may have been a simple job, of perhaps replacing a washer or something. The shower did still work, though not to full capacity. Other than that, I had no problems. The kitchen is compact, however, has everything you'd need. There was a microphone, large fridge and a small freezer, dishwasher and full oven and hob. There was some store cupboard ingredients in the kitchen that was helpful when only staying for a few days. A delightful stay in a beautiful city and having such a nice apartment and a pleasant owner, just made it for us! I'd recommend the apartment and would definitely look to re-book if we returned to Vienna! Read more

My wife , 3 children and our friends stayed at the appartments for 2 nights as a stop-off during a tour around Austria. The appartments were of a very high standard, very clean and comfortable. They would also have definately been suitable for a longer stay being situation close to the underground and easy to get to the maind tourist attractions in […] Vienna. Parking was available late evening and during the night, but was based an a permit system during the day. As the road network in the city and parking at the main attractions was easy to use we used our cars during the day to get around and to save having to find all day parking near the appartments. In my 8 week tour of Europe - this apartment is the best place I have stayed. Please note that this location is not a hotel. There is no reception and the building is secured/locked. When you book the apartment on hotels.com, you must then contact the owner directly to get a code that will give you access to the building and the unit. I did not know this, and do not carry a cell phone so I was stranded outside the building for an extended period of time. Also of note, if you arrive in Vienna on a Sunday, all shops and restaurants in the area are closed. This made for a very frustrating experience. Read more
