Nice place. Walking distance to metro. If you do not have heavy suitcases then take the metro from Airport instead of cabs. Great spread for Breakfast buffet. We had a suite. Only one bathroom. An extra half bath would be prefect or at least an extra sink (instead of a lot of cupboard space). Friendly and helpful staff.

Description of Hostal Salamanca - Madrid

Location.
Located in Madrid (Salamanca - Serrano), Hostal Salamanca is close to Sports Palace Madrid, Las Ventas, and Prado Museum. Also nearby are El Retiro Park and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

Property Features.
Wireless Internet access is complimentary in public areas. Additional amenities include multilingual staff, tour/ticket assistance, and an elevator (lift). A total renovation of this property was completed in February 2013.

Guestrooms.
The 16 air-conditioned guestrooms at Hostal Salamanca include ceiling fans and clock radios. Complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access is provided. All accommodations provide desks and safes. In addition, amenities available on request include hair dryers and irons/ironing boards.

This hostal is fine as long as you don't need any special services and are willing to put down a 20euro deposit to have internet access in your room. I... was happy to be on the 4th floor, one floor up from the reception floor. I wouldn't have liked staying on the 3rd floor, as it would have been MUCH noisier with people buzzing the door to get into the main floor. On the 4th fllor, you have our own key and there are 5 or 6 rooms on the floor with 2 adequate bathrooms and a very large common area, which is almost never used. There is a full-sized refrigerator in the salon, which is uncommon in Spanish hostals. Most european hostals have access to a kitchen, but Spanish ones typically do not. (Spaniards are a little more 'control freakish' than their European neighbors) Having a refrigerator is convenient. This hostal has VERY nice people working there and they all speak English, some better than others. The TVs in the rooms have plenty of channels in English, but you have to know which buttons to press on the remote to get the original language option. I like this location; it isn't in the center, but gives you access to a very nice part of Madrid and is close to the Manuel Becerra and Diego de Leon metro stations.
