"A nice surprise after all the bad reviews I read!"

I just got home from my budget trip to Rome, and I have to say this place was way better than I thought it would be after all the bad reviews I read here! Based on my previous experience with cheaper hotels in Rome, I'd say this is an average(or a little better than the average!) B&B. As everyone who is a little familiar with Rome knows, this is not a friendly-looking neighborhood- lots of shady ethnic faces, homeless people, etc...however, I'd still consider it safe enough, as there are always carabinieri around, and it's a pretty frequented piazza, there are always lots of people coming and going so I don't think it's as dangerous as it looks at a superficial glance.Of course, you should observe the rules that would normally do in such circumstances: like watch out for the quieter streets after dark etc, and obviously leave your diamond rings at home if you have any haha:))) So, if you get over the culture shock and give it a chance, you soon realize that it is actually a really great location: the Termini station(so trains and buses to airports etc), and so the main bus station is only a couple of blocks away, the Metro station is right in front of you as you leave the building. There are several cheaper bars and restaurants and also grocery stores nearby. Not to mention that it's about only a nice 15-20 min. walk to get to the Colosseum! As opposed to some previous comments, I didn't find the building or the rooms dirty(or dirtier than some other, more expensive places I stayed at in Rome previously, of course I never tried the Grand Hotel!;)) The receptionist is nice and helpful, the room we stayed in was the biggest one I have EVER seen in a B&B in Italy. And clean, too! There is a great and cheap vending machine for hot and cold drings and for snacks, we loved it! One bad experience: one evening the hot water was gone so couldn't shower-that's definitely not good, but it's also happened to me before in other, more expensive places in Rome too...so it's not necessarily this B&B, this is more a like a "Roman speciality", I think :)))) All in all at this price this was a very positive experience for me, I strongly recommend this place to young friends or couples who want to see Rome on a budget.
"Give it a chance!"

If hundred times in rome i will still book this hotel, i have seen what most reviews said. Some have not even given it a chance, purely by looking at the main gate and nrerby areas. I stayed there for two days in october and may be because it was october there was no need for ac and rooms were mostly vacant so i enjoyed the hotel, shopping around the area , walking to most rome attractions and metro stations.
"Good value for money"

Good standard for low price. The room including bathroom was clean and in a surprisingly good standard. It was a very poor breakfast indeed without fresh bread.
"Disgusting place. We left immediately DO NOT STAY HERE"
We booked this thru a travel agent. We get to the train station and as we are walking to the hotel, we are immediately discoraged by the neighborhood. You would not know you were in Rome. Everyone was Chinese, Indian and black, which is great....just not what you'd expect in rome for an Italian experience. We get to the grafiti filled, dirty entrance and are scared to discover what is behind those doors. We think we are going to a hotel. We get buzzed in immediately, to find each floor has a different business. The building is dirty and the elevator doesn't work.. We get to the room and there was an old dirty couch for one bed, and two horribly made beds. Not like any hotel I've ever been to. The chairs were folding chairs. The airconditiiner wasn't working right. The bathroom had mold on the walls and the shower was broken. It was gross. My kids were scared to stay there. We tell the front desk we are unhappy and are not staying. They tell us we will lose one nites money. We say ok . The front desk calls over the manager to give us back credit for the second nite . the manager looks at the computer and tells us the agency didn't pay and we had to pay for the nite or she would call the police and have us arrested. She was not very move at all. I put her on the phone with our agent and she realizes it was paid and she made a mistake. We left to find another place. I would not recommend anyone to stay here. There are nicer places even on a budget. Do some research.
"A sad place to stay"

We were looking for a budget place to stay in, but had we seen the place in actual, we'd definitely pay more to stay elsewhere. Place is near Termini and the subway, which is good. Neighborhood tends to be scary at night, maybe just because of the overall look and upkeep of the building and its surroundings. Community is Chinese and Indians, so it's hard to find authentic Italian restos nearby. Look of the B&B is sad, to say the least. The signage in the lobby is made of styrofoam, a little more effort could have gone a long way. The Chinese owner (?) doesn't speak English, just Italian and Chinese. It was also confusing talking to different people about our concerns - they seem to work at the Inn next door and just helping the guy out. There's practically no one at the reception counter all day long. Air conditioning is a free standing air cooler. Breakfast was a tetra pack of juice and some hard, dry pastry -- not really breakfast. Wifi was not functioning in the rooms, you had to go to the stairwell and borrow the wifi from the neighboring inn. Towels were given at the end of the day, since "they weren't delivered yet" from the cleaners. Shower area flooded always because of the poor design. Water heat in the shower fluctuated. Overall area was dimly light.. obviously the owner is trying to save on electricity expenses. Interior of the whole place was lacking. To be fair, at least the beds were clean and fixed everyday. You could also get free water from the dispenser outside. But that's about it. Overall, I think I researched too little on Rome hotels that's why I ended up here. Better get another hotel even if it's a bit more expensive. Not worth destroying your vacation over this b&b. You'd also feel embarrassed staying here. First time I experienced a sort of self-serve hotel/b&b.. I guess you really get what you pay for. But for this, I think I still paid too much for what we got.
"bad location and they won't wait for us to check-in"

We end up be charged credit card for 1 night for no-show at A Casa Di Mei. We arrive in Rome 1345 then it was long line at immigration. Then we took express bus to Termini, til we find our way to hotel it was 1700+. It was far from Termini (don't believe if they say it's near) yes it's near subway but not termini. The building was so scary, the main door was dirty. We buzz the door, no one answer. So we buzz another hotel, the unlock the main door for us. We walk up to hotel, knock the door (no bell) take a peek inside (from some holes on the door) it looks dark and the cctv outside was remove (left the cable hanging out) So we ask the neighbor hotel, the lady don't know anything about this place. I ask if i can use her phone to call, she kindly let me. Then the line couldn't be connected (not busy, but can't go thru and say something in Italian like the number u'r calling can't be connected) At this point, we were sure that we alredy move. So i got no choice but to look for a new hotel, not to mention that i have to drag my suitcase all the way from Termini station and drag in back to that area to find another hotel. I email complain to venere for their fault address or no. They say the owner wait for us til 5pm. Well, hotel supposed to be 24hrs.service? sucky sucky. It"s totally not fair that they charge me 1 night for no show, coz i already show, but they wait too little. Don't book here, the location not good, full of chinese and indian around, you won't feel like you're in rome. if you not believe me, try see review at TripAdvisor
"very basic accommodation for the budget conscious traveller"

You get what you pay for! This is VERY cheap accommodation for Rome so don't expect much. It was hard to find.. except when the owner gives you a biz card with the location & map on it! Shared facilities unless you book a room with en-suite. Breakfast is not plush.. all packaged food and not much of it. I have to say the staff were very friendly even though the owner and his wife do not speak english. When I visited, there was a student working for them who spoke reasonable english and went out of her way to be friendly and helpful.
"Avoid this B&B!"

We made very bad experience with this Bed & Breakfast and I can only warn you if you are thinking to overnight here. We booked a room for a peak Easter weekend. First problem was that they were playing with prices. First price I was given was €80 per night. 10 minutes later, when calling to confirm, price was €100. However, accepted and asked to book for us. When we came to check in, we were told that our room was given to somebody else willing to pay more and pretending we were confused. No room prices in internet, Very impolite and unprofessional attitude. The place is located in a very unsafe area, avoid it if you can. Staff speaks only Russian and Italian.
"Clean, but only cold water showers"

Was a clean room. Had wifi included. No AC, but fan was sufficient during the stifling July nights. Only cold water for showers though! Not even warm, and hotel owner/worker couldn't understand (or didn't care) when I brought it up. Price was right though.
"Hotel "HOLE" - worst hotel EVER"

The most awful experience I have had in a "hotel or b&b" shame on this website for listing it, this blunder ruined my stay in Rome. Firstly waited 35mins outside for someone to arrive to let us in to check in. It's 7 rooms within an apartment block, you can hear every sound in the place. The rude staff seem to try to shout at all hours. One night someone actually hit or kicked our door scaring my girlfriend no end. I can't say this was a staff member but reception is right there outside all the doors Within seconds of handing over cash upfront was informed they hadn't our room and had to stay in a shoebox with no toilet. I wouldent wish this place on my worst enemy. The best part was checking out, as there was no staff there, we had already paid and so were free!
