"Great location for airport and downtown"
It's a small, local place to stay that is easy to get to the airport or to the sights downtown. But most of all, Lara was wonderful from the beginning to make sure that we were comfortable and great to offer as much information for our stay. It's a small 5 unit B&B type apartment which is so Italy!.We loved it and would stay again. The rooms are close […] together and the walls are thin but there is also a great balcony for afternoon or morning relaxing. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed for 3 nights. Laura and Lorenzo are such lovely hosts. Warm, friendly and helpful with advice, maps, directions. Breakfast is simple and nice. We loved the bread/cake homemade by Laura's mum. Room is very clean and fresh. Location wise, it's 10min bus ride and 20min walk from Firenze SMN station. As it's not right in the tourist centre, we […] like the quieteness after a day in the city. There are nearby restaurants, pharmacies and supermart and a cinema 5-10min walk away. Sensazione just around the corner serves good food at affordable prices. All in all, great place and better hosts! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Average clean accommodation - overpriced"
We (a couple) stayed at this b&b in October 2013. The location is average, a good 25 min walk to the city centre, accessible by bus. The rooms were very basic, small but clean. The host was friendly and nice. The negatives: 1. The most annoying part was the host was speaking to someone in the apartment in Italian late afternoon and early morning. […] This was very disturbing as the rooms are all close to the dining area. 2. The breakfast was very very average, supermarket croissants and not much choice that looked appetising. Felt cheap and not worth the 65 euros we paid for one night. Overall not recommended if you are looking for a nice relaxing place close to the city centre Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Warm friendly welcome from a clean comfy B&B"
I went to Florence with my mum so I was apprehensive about whether we had a nice place to stay. I needn't have worried - we had a lovely stay at Il Grillo. The rooms and the B&B generally were very clean and comfortable. The owners are a pleasure to meet; Lara is lovely - very helpful and welcoming, and we were sad to say goodbye. I would recommend […] staying here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Affordable & great service"
Really enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean, large and had a lovely balcony attached to it. Shared bathroom was kept in immaculate condition which made the stay alot more pleasurable because we were concerned with a shared bathroom but it was fine. Check-in was smooth. Lara was super friendly and helped as much as possible, provided maps and recommendations. […] Breakfast was decent. Pizza place downstairs was delicious and affordable also. Our aircon kept turning off in the middle of the night which was a little uncomfortable but aside from that it was great. Really helped that Lara was so lovely, i think she really makes this place worth coming back to.

"Great Little Place to Stay"

Really enjoyed our stay at Il Grillo di Firenze, it is very welcoming place to stay and it is not too far away from the city if you like a walk like us (about 20mins from the train station). The area around the B&B is very good with a Pizzeria and Supermarket just round the corner. The room itself was spotlessly clean and the aircon and free wifi is great - the breakfast was excellent as part of the room price with pastries and fresh cappuccino out on the lovely balcony giving you a great start to the day prior to sight seeing. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

We are a family of 3 and stayed in a triple room. We liked that the B&B had lift access, was clean, air conditioned and each room had a private bathroom. Breakfast is basic but adequate and consists of coffee, yoghurt, spreads, bread, packaged biscuits and some cheese and ham. We also appreciated that the beds were made every day. The beds are too soft for anyone with a bad back but otherwise fine and comfortable. Lara was very helpful with pre-arrival arrangements and during our entire stay in Florence. Huge thanks Lara!:) It helps that the B&B is a 10 min bus ride away from the historical centre of Florence and the buses run frequently. There are food options within walking distance and the gelateria round the corner is really awesome!
"Il Grillo di Firenze - Not just a B&B, but a place with friends"

We have just returned from the beautiful Florence and we totally loved our stay at the B&B “Il grillo di Firenze”. Lara & Lorenzo are so very welcoming, friendly and helpful ! We were given some good ideas for sightseeing (eg. Piazzale Michelangelo - bus no.13 from S.M.Novella or Fiesole – bus no. 7 from Piazza San Marco) and Lara booked tickets for us at Uffizi and Galleria dell’ Accademia. The room was large enough (we had a triple), very clean, quiet and our opened onto a lovely balcony area where we could admire the beauty of Florence with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. It was a great way to meet other guests, too. Bed was very comfortable, free wi-fi, air conditioning. The breakfast was good too, more than enough to start our day. Location is perfect for sightseeing. There's a bus stop right in front of the building which takes you downtown or it's only about a 20 minute walk. Tips: if you are a family and want to use bus transport, buy a Daily Family ticket. It’s only 6 euros and it’s available for all buses or trams. Il Grillo di Firenze is such a nice place, so if I write more, all I can do is to repeat what everybody said before. We would highly recommend this B&B for its location, comfort and friendly owners Lara and Lorenzo. We hope we'll be back sometime. Thank you, Lara, for making our stay in Florence as enjoyable as possible !

Everything about this charming B&B is excellent and more than expected. Starting from Lara, the owner and incredible hostess! Very friendly, sweet, helpful and caring. The place is super clean and accomodating, with everything brand new and convenient. Beautiful rooms with A/C, TV, free Wi-Fi, bathrooms and even a charming terrace! Delicious breakfast included and nice location outside from the noise and chaos of the center but still very easy to reach from it. We felt very safe the whole time, both inside the hotel and outside the area around it. After traveling around some of the major European cities, this was the best experience we had. We loved our visit in Florence and a lot of it has to do with Lara and her special place!! Great value and great customer service, we will highly recommend it from now on to all our family and friends visiting this Amazing city and we're looking forward to coming back again one day!!
"Clean, convenient and comfortable"

Lara is a wonderful host and an excellent communicator, she made us comfortable and gave us detailed maps for sightseeing and suggestions for dining, she even went out of her way to make sure there was an early breakfast for us as we had an early flight the next morning. The room was clean and well appointed and the common balcony was a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine and chat with fellow travelers. I enthusiastically recommend Il Grillo to anyone looking for a quiet well run B&B.
"Superb hospitality and charming hosts made our stay delightful"
This pensione in Florence was the perfect fit for my mother and I!! The hosts Lara and Lorenzo were kind, detail oriented and extremely attentive to our every need. The room we shared was quiet, clean and simple. Lara was always available to give us maps, explain how to get certain places, make suggestions on where to get the best buys in leather goods ( as I am crazy about Italian purses and shoes!!). She was always patient, warm and happy!! We would ride the bus into the central part of Florence, to visit il Duomo, the Uffizzi and other museums. The bus stop was very close to the pensione and maybe took 10 minutes to get to the center. I would highly recommend Il Grillo for travelers who like clean, simple lodgings and warm lovely hosts. The balcony is an added bonus. It was lovely to sit on the balcony for breakfast or unwind after a busy day of sightseeing. Molto grazie, Lara and Lorenzo!!
"Clean and comfortable B&B"

My husband and I just left Florence and enjoyed out spacious and clean room at Il Grillo. Lara was so accomdating, when checking us in she gave us maps and places to see and things to do and most important, good restaurants in the area. She always asked us if we needed anything and made us feel welcome. Our room was comfortable with access to the shared Terrance, modern en suite bathroom and fresh linens both days. My only suggestion would be to have an iron the guests can use. Great place and we would recommend and stay there again.
"Nice retreat from the tourist area of Florence"
06/15/14 milanfamily Indianapolis, Indiana
I was thrilled to find a B&B which could accommodate a family of 5 in one room. While not a large room, the direct access to the balcony provided extra space to relax at the end of the day. Lara provided a nice breakfast with delicious cappuccino or coffee (and always asked if we wanted another cup!) She was very helpful with any questions we had and I enjoyed chatting with her each morning. The bus stopped close to the apartment and was an easy ride into the tourist area of Florence. By the end of a busy day sight-seeing I was always relieved to get back to the quiet area surrounding the B&B. (The lovely balcony is a great place to have a glass of wine!) There are several good dining options (nice when you hear more Italian spoken than English in a restaurant) and an excellent gelateria right around the corner. If you are looking for a simple, clean, affordable B&B in a quiet part of Florence then this is a great choice!
"Your home in Florence"
06/02/14 pug306xt Adelaide, Australia
Lara was delightful and very helpful with advice on sight seeing and where to eat ( an excellent cafe is just around the corner). And she made a decent coffee. The cheese slices were processed gunk but apart from that we had a pleasant adequate Italian breakfast on balcony in the mornings. The shared balcony can get noisy in the mornings if you want to sleep in. It's also a source of cigarette smoke. The room and hot shower and wifi were very good. Access to centro is possible on foot ( we, a mature couple, walked there, walked around for 5 hours and back again) and there is a bus stop below. Access to the building is a little inconvenient if arriving by car because it's a busy street with limited parking to unload and Florence has a weird building numbering system. The neighbourhood felt safe at night and was clean and quiet. We were in northern Italy last year at this humid time and knew to book a room with a/c (our booking.com confirmation clearly shows this). However tho' a/c was installed we were not given the remote because its use is restricted to summer. This would have been OK if we could open a window but for privacy, modesty and security reasons and for peace and quiet, we closed our only source of fresh air, the door to the shared balcony. So our room was sealed off and got quite stuffy at night. The a/c in fan-only mode would have solved this problem.
"Home away from home!"
This BnB was the best among all that we stayed in while touring italy. Located in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to bus services. Lara was an excellent hostess. Sweet, friendly and extremely helpful. She advised on how to get around florence with ease and suggested some good eating places. The rooms are nice and cozy with a shared balcony that has a great view and a nice place to relax. The breakfast is great and she makes amazing coffee. Overall an amazing place and would definitely recommend this to anyone travelling to florence! cheers
