The hotel it self was gorgeous, and the location can't be beat--right next to the Medina. The room was very clean, but we did have an issue where we returned at about 5:00 from a day of sightseeing, and our room had not been cleaned. They rectified it after we asked about it twice, but it was still a bit of a nuissance. I think some of this might be due to the fact that it was a newer hotel, and believe that the service is likely to get better. The breakfast, also could have been better. Overall though, I would not hesitate to recommendt he property or stay here agin.

The views of the Medina are beautiful, especially at night. The beautiful and traditional Moroccan decor was exceptional. Being a bit out of city was nice after a long day seeing the wonderful city of Fez and a welcoming place to relax and have tea on the balcony or swim in the beautiful pool. Fez is not to be missed during a trip to Morocco and Les Merinides is a great place to stay!

It was very easy to find this place. It is right off the freeway into Fes. The place was clean. Pots and pans and dishes were there for us to use. The bedding was not so comfortable, but it is hard to find soft mattresses in Morocco, so we expected it. the accommodations were fine, but don't expect a queen size bed in the master bedroom. We had all twin beds/banquettes. We stayed only one quick night in November, so we can't say anything about the pools or the grounds. Easy to get to the Medina from this location. Will stay there again with our kids as it is an easy stay.

The ryad itself is beautiful with lovely tile and intricate woodwork. The courtyard is filled with trees and elegant furnishings. Every area in the Ryad that we saw was spotless day and night. Our room was lovely and the bathroom very modern and attractive. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The night caretaker Fatah, who also served breakfast in the morning, was charming and spoke fluent English and French (in addition to Arabic) and was a joy to be around!! He was most helpful in answering questions about the local sites and history of the Ryad. We would highly recommend Ryad Alya to anyone visiting Fez.

We had a fab time, 4 nights and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Definately recommend if you want to stay within the city wall of the Medina and want to stay in a Riad.

My friend and I stayed at the Riad Fez Yamanda for two nights. The hotel is a renovated 500 year old home and really beautiful; full of character and charm. The location is ideal, being right in the middle of the medina, however at night we did feel a little uneasy navigating the dimly lit streets.
