Mosel Hotel Hähn - Koblenz

I stayed here for two nights while I was at the Nurburgring in November, which is 5 min away. Pros: Clean, friendly staff, safe area (seemed like all families), great value (it was cheaper than the other hotels in the area but you get an entire house to yourself), convenient shop/restaurant in the complex. Cons: You have to bring your own soap/shampoo, the restaurant was pretty much never open when I went, wifi not included, and breakfast is 12 euros.

It was a good "base" area to explore the Rhein area. The food was great! We had a car and it was convenient. I loved the home made jelly and wine! We had a great view of the river too. We did have to take a ferry to cross the river from Frankfurt which was a surprise but doesn't take long and not expensive . There were a lot of trains but we got used to it after a while and it was a little warm but we were there in the fall so not a problem.

Very happy that we decided to splurge for the Rhine River view room. The Rhinefels is in a great location (2minutes from the St. Goar Train Station & directly across the street from the K-D boat dock). The icing on the cake, was the superior service provided by the owner. He surprised my wife with beautiful fresh flowers prior to arrival and saved the day, by lending me a 220V transformer so I could charge my razor & digital camera. The free breakfast was great. This was a full breafast, not the usual continental type.

Lovely hotel. Beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the location of the hotel and the beautiful town of Bacharach. We would definitely stay at this hotel if we returned.

This hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but with its Baconies with views of the Rhine and its charming dining area, its a definite hit (at least at the very resonable rate I paid). The sign outside says "A little Piece of Italy on the Rhine, or something like that) We were budget travelers using Hotels.com to get the best rates in Europ. This is a small hotel with a family like staff which were very helpful. When i told the Italian female (co-owner?) that I studied German in high school, she always spoke german to me and wanted me to reply in german, a nice touch! The nearby castle of Marksburg has a great tour. Google it. If you arrive at 12:00 noon the tour is in English. Bottom line: If you can get a room on the river with a balcony, don't miss this place. Definitely not a 5 star hotel however, if you are looking for that type of hotel.
