The hotel is right across the street from St. Paul's Bay. Small restaurants and food stores are nearby. The buffet breakfast included in my reservation was outstanding, with a huge variety of good food and with helpful staff. The bus depot is less than one block away. The hotel was undergoing major construction work outside, on one side of the building. However, I'm not sure they were using rooms on that side during construction. My room was on the other side, and I didn't hear any noise at all.

Nearly everything was terrific about the Excelsior. The employees were all very friendly, breakfast was good, and the location is a few minutes walk from the heart of Valletta. The only negative points would be that the jacuzzi was colder than the swimming pool.

Pros: Front desk service and info was great and friendly! Location was perfect for walking to areas and bus stop directly across the street. Breakfast upstairs was easy when we wanted it. Cons: Small elevator. Street noise. All in all this was a great hotel for us. Loved the service(Carl was great) the only item that I can really say was bad was the street noise since this hotel is right on the main road. However in Malta the national song is a beeping car! So get used to it. It didn't bother me in the least.

For the price of the hotel, I was very satisfied. The room was comfortable and clean. The best part of the hotel is its staff. Extremely helpful and friendly. Made my one week there a little bit more enjoyable.
