This is certainly not the finest hotel you'll ever stay in, but the staff is friendly and helpful and it is in a great location convenient to public transportation and a short ride (and not too long of a walk) from some of the city's amazing museums. The room was clean and there was a nice view of the courtyard behind the hotel. It's located on a very […] quite street but not just a 10 minute walk from Amsterdam nightlife. My room was a single, and though comfortable. It did feel a bit like a dorm, but that was fine with me. I'm not sure what the doubles are like, but if I am traveling alone the next time I am in Rotterdam, I will definitely consider staying here again. Read more

All in all, a great place to stay. less than 5-min walk from Leidesplein, one of the main attractions in Amsterdam. City Center no more than 15 min walk and the hotel is very close to various bus and tram stops. Easy to find. reception staff was very helpful. stayed at a room at the garden. although it was freezing outside, the room was very warm, clean […] and a great bathroom as well. no noise whatsoever. only down side the room was bit small and the wifi connection was a bit bad as couldn't get a good signal in the room and had to stay by the door all the time for the internet. apart from these areas,it was a pleasant stay and would recommend it to any one that wants a place to stay while enjoying a city break. would definitely stay there again. can't commend on breakfast as we didn't try it. Overall a good experience. Clean room, very friendly staff eager to help, and nice surrounding area. Only slight minus I would say is that the walls are paper-thin, and so conversations from nearby rooms could be heard, however this is probably the case with most hotels in this price class.

As a single traveller I usually end up at the top of the building in a small room. I was on the 4th floor but the lift only went to 3rd floor, only a small inconvenience for me. Hotel has an excellent location next to Vondel Park in a quiet one-way street. There are good transport links nearby via tram and bus. Room was small clean and everything worked, […] including free WiFi. Be aware there was no air con to deal with summer heat. I didn't go for breakfast preferring to go out early and eat with the locals. The staff were very friendly and helpful and clearly love showing you how to enjoy Amsterdam. Was very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, lovely hotel in a quiet, pretty area, and everything is still within walking distance despite not being directly in the centre. Nice cafes and restaurants near by. Went with partner for 2 nights.

Our room was quite small - but why would we need more room to store our luggages and sleep. Beautiful view to the garden and nice breakfast. Easy to reach by tram and by foot. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was family-like and cozy.

The Alexander is a very well situated hotel, near to central Amsterdam but away from most of the noise. The hotel is located in one of the old-fashioned buildings, meaning that it is narrow and tall. This also applies to the rooms which are: narrow and tall. Do not expect a lot of space. I was given room 15, which unlike most of the rooms is situated […] in the stairwell. The stairs are unfortunately very noisy, and also you can hear all the noise from the lobby through the thin door. So as far as noise goes, this was like staying at a hostel. The room was basically clean, but was starting to show its age. This was especially true of the shower, which could have used fresh grouting. So, while this would not pass as a three star hotel in the Nordic countries, it is perfectly average for an Amsterdam hotel, meaning it is somewhat overpriced for what it offers. I would recommend trying to reserve a room as high up as possible, and making sure you are not given one of the stairwell rooms, which are basically unsuitable as guest rooms. In the stairwell rooms earplugs are a must. Taking these things into account, I would still actually recommend the Alexander, but only with these words of caution. Read more

The staff was amazing, very helpful, the breakfast was good (had better but also had much worse), the room was good, comportable bed, fresh bathroom and they cleaned the room every day. Nice comfy place very close to Leidseplein. I had a single room, and for sleeping and showers it has all you need. Clean room, clean shower and daily room cleaning. Free maps and info at the desk. I`ll go there again.

Excellent location, really kind and helpfull staff. The hotel is located in a great area, close to Leidan Square, the Vondelpark, the Museum square, Hard Rock Cafe, Heineken Experience. The only two negative aspects: 1 - Breakfast is not included and is kind of expensive and 2 - The bathroom towels were kind of old and not as "write and fluffy" as we […] expected. Read more

Hôtel très propre, personnel accueillant. La chambre et la salle de bain étaient spacieuses. Nous disposions d'un balcon privatif avec vue sur la cour de l'hôtel. Prix très attractif au vu des services proposés (wifi, télé...). Séjour court puisque nous n'y avons passé qu'une nuit mais globalement satisfaits de la prestation offerte et de l'accueil. L'hôtel est très bien situé, dans le quartier des musées et à quelques minutes des principaux autres quartiers. Petit déjeuner classique copieux et bon. Nous recommandons fortement.

Nous garderons un excellent souvenir de notre séjour dans cet hotel notamment grâce à l extrēme gentillesse du personnel qui nous a bien accompagné pour gérer un problème de vol de papiers d'identités et carte de crédit qui s'était produit dans la journée en centre ville. L ' hôtel est hyper bien situé, on peut se garer facilement à proximité (payant […] sauf le dimanche) et rejoindre les points touristiques à pieds ou en vélo (location à l'hotel) en 10mn (pour les premiers : place des musées, rues commerçantes, point d'embarquement pour les canaux). Très proche des sites touristiques et malgré tout très calme. Un seul petit conseil pour l hôtel : améliorer le confort des lits mais pour une nuit c'était très bien. Nous avions une chambre pour 4 qui était de bonne taille. Il y a un petit jardin intérieur très calme. Read more

Hotellets innergård är en egen liten oas. Närhet till Vondelpark (jättestor) samt restauranger och affärer är mkt bra. Teaterrestaurangen Stanislavski vid närbelägna Leidenplats kan definitivt rekommenderas.

God beliggenhet nær Leidseplein - og Vondelpark, som er vel verdt en tur hvis du liker fugler og cafeer i tillegg til parkopplevelsen. Men romstandarden var ikke verdt pengene. Steile trapper tre etasjer opp, og i dusjen var taket så lavt at håret subbet i det (og jeg er bare 165 cm høy). Joda, rent nok (selv om de hvite hunde?-hårene på gulvteppet […] ikke var våre). Men romprisen var høy i forhold til standard og størrelse. Frokost ikke inkludert. Ut fra turistbrosjyrer jeg leste etter ankomst kunne vi ha fått et bedre rom/hotell for samme pris. Read more
