clean enough to sleep in one nightGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It is a very bad hotel. The toilet sting and the shower is very very small and old. The breakfast is a joke: a croissant and cup of juice. The conditions of the hotel are bad. The receptionists do not speak English and not friendly. The payment method of the hotel is very bad due to the fact that I have been charged 4 times in my credit card. It was […] very difficult to get my money back. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We got to this "hotel" and noone was there. We rang the buzzer for about 20mins before anyone showed up and we could check in. The rooms were fine but the door keys were a bit dodgy. About an hour later we walked out to go and get some dinner when one of the men who checked us in was sitting on the corner watching us and talking on his phone. We did […] not feel safe leaving our valuables there and left early the next morning to put our bags in luggage storage instead of leaving them there. I would not recommend it. "Budget hotel for a very short stay"
It is one of the most affordable hotels near termini. I stayed here for one night and it was OK. The hotel is in the 3rd floor of a building and there is an elevator. The room was clean and a decent size, the bathroom was small but clean. I could connect to WIFI from the room and the AC also worked OK. The staff was very friendly and allowed me to check […] out late with no extra charge. If you need a very cheap hotel for a short stay this place will do. "Let's say, I've seen better..."
Located in a bad neighborhood behind central station. I think it's not even worth 1 star. Mold is growing on the walls. You can't even open the curtains. The mattress is less than 10 cm thick. Even though it's included in the price, you have to ask for the towels. Very small shower with bug running around. You're breakfast is 1 simple croissant with […] instant coffee.

Genuine Expedia guest review

"DO NOT BOOK - THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY"
01/25/14 Abzors Brighton, United Kingdom
This hotel has been nothing but trouble from the start. If only I could rate it 0 instead of 1! Firstly, when I booked I was told I'd pay 10% online and the rest on arrival (clearly stated on my invoice) they just took the whole amount straight away which left me in trouble with my overdraft and ruined a day of my holiday. Secondly they LIED about the facilities. They claimed to have a luggage room, which for us was important as we had backpacks and a late light. However they expect us to leave them in the corridor. Also the breakfast was Awful but that was the least of my worries. Thirdly and most IMPORTANTLY they STEAL your money. Since my booking in August they've taken £167 in November and now £125 in January. WORST HOTEL I'VE EVER BEEN TO. THEIFS AND LIARS.

""Nightmare in Rome""

Conte Verde was definitely my worst "hotel" experiense ever!!! Terrible pee smell on the room, bugs walking in the shower, dirty bed, no function light in the bathroom, I could even wash my face because of the stuck water! Don't even think about going there!! Oh and the "breakfast" is one tiny butter croissant. I was literally out the whole day just to avoid being there. I m still wondering how they let this place be open. It was a nightmare. Very close to a horror movie.

"Please DO NOT book this hotel!"
11/13/13 tanyal2448 Bangalore, India
This hotel is an absolute nightmare! We traveled to Rome in July 2013. It took us FOREVER to find this place. The place was fine once we found it expect that the toilet was a joke. We could hardly open the door and the shower was even worse. But that's not my problem with this hotel. We made the payment online for this hotel, however once we got back home, we got a message saying we've been charges 222 euros for this hotel that we've already paid for! A month after staying here! We quickly called the bank and cancelled the payment saying we had not authorized it. Much to my surprise, I got another message today, 4 MONTHS after staying in this hotel, that they've charged me another 267 euros! They're totally scamming people and using our credit card information and making payments without our consent! PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE! AND DEFINITELY DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!
"Room had/has BLACK MOLD"
10/12/13 NickinCA California, Pennsylvania
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!! This was the most disgusting "hotel" I've ever booked. My room had/has block mold growing all the way up one wall and there's more in the bathroom above the toilet. When I pointed this out they were completely unapologetic and then admitted to knowingly book the room in this condition and put their guests health in jeopardy. Completely immoral and unethical! After finding new accommodation I demanded a refund but he would not give me the entire sum I was forced to pay in cash. He kept one night becuase it took me a few hours to find a hostel with a vacancy. When I tried to leave he got very hostile and violent when I told him I reported the hotel to the department of tourism. He grabbed me by the arm with both of his hands, but I was able to break free from his filthy disgusting grip and I got away unscathed.
"Just a bed, not clean, no airco, non english speaking staff and a bad neighbourhood"
07/16/13 RubenUtrecht Utrecht, The Netherlands
You get a bed, the bathroom is old and not clean. The staff did not understand english and the breakfast was just including a koffee nothing more. We also had a room without airco so it was very warm. Its near a merto station but the neighbourhood was not that good!

Trying to even find this hotel was a nightmare. However, this is nothing close to even resembling a hotel, let alone a 3-star hotel, so I will be referring to this as a hostel throughout this review. You walk into an apartment building and find no front desk or directions on where to go. Lugged my suitcase up several floors to look for something resembling a hotel entrance. There was a lift that looked almost as sturdy as one of the things i built with my erector set back in 4th grade (didn't trust it). After walking up and down and back outside a few times I finally saw a tiny hidden intercom for the apartment building which labeled the hotel as an apartment on the 3rd floor, so I went back up. I arrived at noon and there was no one present except one cleaning lady who didn't speak english and just told me to come back at 2pm. The entire hostel area is one little section of one floor that is about the size of a normal apartment and is sectioned off into 6 tiny rooms. I was meeting my two friends there so we had a 3-person room which had space to fit about 1 normal size person and their lap dog. The view was into some dark chimney-way with what sounded like factory workers below building something, making a ton of noise. The walls were also paper-thin and we could hear every single conversation at the check-in desk, including all phone calls and people buzzing up. The bathroom was almost impossible to even get into as the door would hit the toilet if you opened it more than halfway. The shower was outrageously tiny. My friend who used to play football was unable to even shower here because he couldn't fit through the door. Oh, also there is no soap (by the sink or in the shower), no shampoo, the towels I think were old bed-sheets (not even absorbent). Also, this little lounge room with a flat-screen TV they show in their pictures on here may exist, but not in this hostel. We were so angry with how we got tricked that we spent the majority of our first day walking around Rome to other hotels to see who could get us in a 3-person room right away, which was impossible. So we decided to just tough it out for at least one night and try again the next day. However, just when you think it can't get any worse things really went south the next morning as we tried to leave to finally tour the city a bit. We could not get our key out of the door. We spent an hour trying to get the key out, even asking other guests there to help in case there was some secret way to get the key out that we didn't know about, but they couldn't help. The worst part is the key actually worked, so you could get the door open, but you couldn't remove the key from the lock. So we couldn't just leave unless we felt comfortable just letting any of the shady characters hanging around the hotel to just walk right into our apartment with all our valuables. "No problem" you say though... just get the employees to help right?.... WRONG. There is no one manning the desk or any way of getting ahold of them so we had to stay there with our stuff until someone returned. We finally just decided we're leaving and checking into another hotel because we can't leave our stuff in an unlocked room. Right then the owner (or whatever he was) finally got back and couldn't even get the key out of the lock himself. We informed him we were leaving because this was ridiculous he then told us we needed to pay for two nights since we stayed that day past the ridiculous 10am checkout time. After arguing and saying we will pay for the 1 night he finally said "ok, thats fine." He told us we had to pay in cash (and would have even if we stayed all 4 nights) despite him having our credit card info from the booking online. So we paid and finally just got out of there, of course without being given a receipt. We were totally fine with just paying 50 euro more per day to stay at a great hotel we found nearby with availability called Hotel Ariston. That's the end of our problems with this place right? WRONG. We then realized the next day that he charged our credit card for the total amount of all 4 days... no not once, but TWICE. He tried to scam us and charge our card for 8 nights as well as the 1 night we paid in cash. We called the credit card company to inform them and they said they would look into it more. We then just went back to the hostel and confronted them, but the "owner" wasn't there, so the employee at the time said to come back the next night, so we were nice enough to do that. Upon returning the next night he said if we sign the credit card he will just give us all the money he charged us for in cash, but then did the math to still make us pay for 2 nights total. After a long time of arguing and missing our dinner reservation we couldn't take it anymore and said we will pay for 1.5 days and he finally accepted it, mostly just because other guests were returning to the hostel at the time and seemed concerned with what was going on. Ultimately, this place completely ruined our 4 days in Rome and wasted a ton of our time, running around and making calls and dealing with all the problems this hostel caused us. It's filled with shady employees and yes it may be somewhat cheap, but it's not even worth it to stay here for free (even without all the problems we had). Please don't go here unless you want to spend your vacation on the phone with your bank, dealing with credit card fraud. My friends and I are scarred to even go back to Rome now. Pleeeease.... learn from us and don't stay here. I
"Never staying here again"

I booked this hotel for 5 people. We stayed there for 3 days. First of all, the hotel was far from the termini station. We called the hotel to ask for direction, but it was useless. They kept talking in italian and wasted our money just like that. By the help of my friend's friend, we managed to get there, by CAR. You can actually walk there but i would NOT recommend it! I was about to pay them and suddenly the receptionist guy said that he had already charged it on my credit card!! I was shocked to hear that and he actually charged it 2 days before my arrival!! And later i found out that my card had been charged twice by this hotel! And the other was made 4 days before my arrival! I was lucky to have found out about it when i was still in rome and he gave back my money in cash. Since there were 5 of us, they gave us an apartment. It was near the colloseum. The apartment was clean. It got kitchen, 2 toilet, washing machine, tv and wifi too. There was also a supermarket nearby. So you can cook. The apartment itself was great but i'm not very happy with the service.
"Ridiculous to call it "Hotel""
10/15/12 colibri-on-tour London, United Kingdom
Well... if you book this accommodation you will have a bed in an - at least - quite clean "room"... though I wouldn't call it "room". These are the pros. The staff was very rude and it seems they are NOT WILLING to understand English. They ask on arrival for an additional "city tax" the reservation (online via an usual booking site) didn't say anything about. Even after a long and increasingly angry discussion with - in the meanwhile - two members of staff they insisted on that. Although, I felt ripped off, due to the late hour of my arrival I gave in but insisted on a receipt showing the city tax separately (which took them ages to provide though I was sure they know what I wanted them to do) The weirdest thing of my stay was that I in the first morning (I stayed 3 nights) someone knocked at 7.30am (!!!) on my door (as there was no housekeeping I doubt it was to tidy the room). In the third night there were around midnight people yelling and shouting in the "lobby" (ok let's call it hallway) which turned out to be other guests complaining about the additional tax at check-in. Even after mentioning that it was in the middle of the night and I had to get a flight early in the morning next day they didn't stop and the staff didn't care about!!! The hotel itself is rather a converted flat and the room I had was more like a separated part of the hallway. Also the fact that on my door was a sign "PRIVATO" made me doubt I was in a proper room. There was barely anything in it. A bed and a bedside table. However there was a TV there wasn't a remote-control so you can't use it. The ventilator wasn't working at all. One wall was a huge build in wardrobe which was locked. Under the bed was some luggage and a bucket of paint and some more stuff stored. (Wtf???) The area around "Piazza Vittorio Emanuele" is really dodgy and I can't recommend it for solo travelling ladies (esp. if you have to come back to the hotel late in the evening) So if you really need just a place to sleep and you can't get anything else you can bear it for a view nights (at least it is clean - no insects or anything) but I wouldn't recommend it if you have a choice.
