"Must Stay Hotel!!!"
I arrived early before check in and my room was not available but they were very accomadating. They took my luggage and told me to come back in an hour and directed where to go for lunch. They even gave a me a free drink later on in the bar for the inconvenience. The room was very nice and the wifi worked great so i could still get work done and skype […] with the family. Very old school looking european hotel with a lot of character. When I go back I will not look to stay anywhere else, perfect location with wonderful and inviting staff and a wonderful breakfast spread. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"4.5 Star Service for the Money - Close to DT"
My room was on the 5th floor and no elevators, so at least I got a workout in. They did have a bell hop that lugged my bag up those 5 flights, though I did have to lug it down. Coming from a horrible stay in Cologne, I'd say the room was near 5 star - with the exception of the beds. Hard as a rock. The rooms were very spacious and the bathroom had a […] huge garden tub. I didn't get a chance to try the restaurant since they had some private party. They are about a 10-15 minute walk to the city center. It's about a 30 Euro and 20-25 minute cab ride to the airport. I really liked this hotel. The restaurant was excellent and their 10euro breakfast was well worth it. I would stay here again. The only think that I would have changed would get rid of the foot board on the bed, there wasn't enough space with it. They had a koi pond, which was unpredictable, but it was nice to look at. Overall, I was very satisfied […] with the property and would recommend it to anyone going to Stuttgart. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"OK Place to stay depending on the room you have"
I was there for 2 nights and it was a business visit. It is not that close to the city center. Rooms were OK but really really old. They try to keep it classic. It is OK place to stay if you get room from the new building next to the nice hotel garden. But the rooms from the main building is not that nice. They have several floors but don't have a lift. […] I heard they are going to build one. I really like the nice and very helpful people working over there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Adorable and quaint!"
This hotel was absolutely adorable! If you want to feel like you are staying in a true German spot, this is the place for you! The history of the building combined with the decor is very traditional, yet the amenities are modern and very clean. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms are spacious. The location is fantastic as there is a streetcar/tram one […] block away from the hotel that can take you all over Stuttgart, which we discovered was quite a hilly city. The only downfall of this is being located on a main road I found it to be a little noisy in the morning, but only around 7am (we stayed during the week). We normally like to sleep in until 9am so I found I was woken up a bit earlier. Good earplugs easily solve this problem. The host was quite friendly and we could communicate without issue in English as unfortunately our German is quite non-existent. Would book here again if we return to Stuttgart!

"WARNING No shame, I was so embarrassed."
08/25/14 CaptainKitty1 Calgary, Canada
I posted a review on booking as well. It took me a while to get the courage to say what happened, as it was such an embarrassing experience... Let me say that I am not a rude person, I do not have a temper, I don't yell or swear or argue ESPECIALLY in public. I absolutely hate to do this, as I have NEVER had to write such a negative comment ever before, but after the situation I went through I feel it's important to share this information to save pain for anyone else. #1 they say they are PET FRIENDLY but this is not the case. They have strict pet policies not specified earlier (online), you are not allowed to leave your pet in the room unsupervised. This is ridiculous and to me does not mean "pet friendly". I went for lunch and left my 5 Kg dog in the kennel. I was LECTURED IN THE MAIN RECEPTION AREA about this walking in from lunch! SWF here, old enough to know better young enough not to care... I had informed the hotel I would be out late. He seemed friendly enough at the time and said I could come and go as I please, just not to forget the key. WELL. I went out late on a Saturday night. I had every intention to go have some fun and probably come back drunk... My friend brought me back to the hotel and the manager CHASED ME around the hotel and FORCED HIS WAY INTO MY ROOM to "find" my friend who was NOT ALLOWED to stay OR visit me. I was not offered to pay a stipend for a late night visitor, but instead was yelled at and chased around the hotel at wee hours of the night. The fact that this large burly old man BARGED into my room (actually pushed his way into it while I was trying to shut the door) was SCARY and definitely not the way I would want to feel in ANY hotel establishment. *No visitors past midnight, also not mentioned. Oh, and no sex allowed apparently. (this was made clear by his commenting later on how he knew what I was up to and that kind of behavior was unacceptable. How did he ever have children? Sheesh.) He embarrassed me the following morning (when I went expecting an apology) by YELLING AT ME me in front of his staff (and anyone else to walk through the reception area) about the state of my room, condoms in the garbage, leaving my dog alone in the room, and using the back entrance to remove my luggage. (supposedly also forbidden.) At this point I was so infuriated I demanded to check out a night early, but was still charged 2 full nights. I paid 300$ for 1 night and a horrible experience! I felt like a child being reprimanded for not knowing the rules. Which, I should mention, the manager will make up anything to be a rule if he doesn't approve of you or your lifestyle. I would NOT recommend this location to ANYONE under the age of 50 or who is sexually active, drinks alcohol, or is seeking pet friendly. I was so disappointed as this was to be a treat, and it is a lovely hotel with a good location. Just be careful with the old man, clearly he has left his youth behind long, long ago.
"lovely service, but so-so hotel"
08/24/14 FoiledSeattle Seattle, Washington
We were so enamoured by their website - it made it look like a quiet, romantic hotel. But it's on a busy street in central Stuttgart. Every single hotel staff person was lovely, but we found out after check in that the air-conditioning didn't work (due to the installation of an elevator) and there were no fans. On a hot July night with no breeze, even having the balcony door open didn't help. The room was very small and tricky to negotiate without stubbing your toes. The shower only had one setting which was full blast - which tended to soak everything else in the room. And last but not least, the wifi was pretty much non-existent except in the lobby. On the plus side, besides the friendly service, the breakfast was amazing, and the location is convenient. It's on a tram line and and easy walk downhill to the center of town. (Do use caution and not drift off the side streets down hill to the 'red light' district!) And they offer parking (for a fee) which is a small lot behind the hotel (fine unless you have a large car). If you stay here, be sure the construction is finished and that all the services are working. I'd also pay for a larger room if you can.
"Rooms too hot, be aware"
08/05/14 slowlyraoundtheworld Leuven, Belgium
First, this IS a good choice 90% of the year. There's a bit of discussion about the decor (Kitsch or Art), but the place has character, service and breakfast is good, there's a decently priced car park, it's in close proximity of the city centre (15 minutes walk, public transport nearby). But it's on a busy noisy street (day and night) and it has no elevator and no airconditioning. If you happen to be here on the 10% of the year when it's actually hot in Germany, you'll have to sleep using ear plugs if you want to enjoy a cool night. The staff informed us that both the elevator and the airconditioning are work in progress. Too late for us. Our family of 5, all relatively easy sleepers, all had their worst night in a very long time, which is a shame considering the price we paid. Next time, I'd go for a bland, standard chain hotel which has airconditioning when traveling in the summer. Finally, WiFi was working only in the lobby. Again, this may have been a case of bad luck, but it shouldn't happen nowadays that Wifi is failing...
"Good Choice, Mid-Range Hotel in Stuttgart, Full of Character."
07/31/14 MarkandSally Manchester, United Kingdom
We stayed in the Hotel zuer Weinsteige for one night in July - the day after the German World-Cup win. It was planned as a stopping-off point, half way through our drive from Moenchengladbach to Lake Constrance, chosen for its location and convenience for the Mercedes Museum. Once we managed to locate the hotel, we were horified by the level of construction noise - the receptionist was most apologetic and explained that they were in the process of installing a lift, and that the workers would finish by 6pm (which they did). She also explained that, as a result of the work, the restaurant was closed and that we would need to eat in a sister-hotel down the road (although there was no suggestion of a discount for our inconvenience). I am sure that by now the works will have been completed, and that everything will be back to normal, but it might be worth checking if you are thinking of staying here in the next couple of months. Construction work aside, the hotel is a charming, characterful, very traditional German building, and the staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. The rooms are large and clean, and the beds extremely comfortable. It is ideally located for the city centre, being a 10 minute walk into the centre of Stuttgart. If you do happen to stay, we would recommend the Grand Cafe Planie which is en-route into the city - the food and wine is excellent, with plenty of tables outside in the square to sit, relax and enjoy a glass of wine watching the world go by. They are also open for breakfast from 7am. Overall we would recommend this hotel, but would include a couple of caveats: 1) Be sure to plan your route beforehand - it can be difficult to find if you don't know where you're going. This is exacerbated by the fact that (a) it is also known as the "Flair Hotel Woertz", which can be particularly confusing when working out directions, and (b) there is a tramline in the middle of the road which means that if you miss the entrance you have to go a long way up the hill before you can turn round. 2) When the hotel was constructed the main means of transport would have been horse and cart, and the fact that it is immediately at the roadside would not have been a problem. However, it is now on a main arterial route to the city, with trams going past regularly. We would therefore recommend requesting a room overlooking the gardens and carp-pond at the back of the hotel.
"Top service, beautiful hotel"

Everything was great about this hotel: the room was nice and comfy, the staff were friendly, the breakfast was very varied and tasty (really cheap for 10€!). The centre of Stuttgart is a 10-minute-walk away, though, and the nearest metro station a couple of blocks away.
"A Good Choice in Stuttgart"

We stayed here for one night in May. We were on our way up to Dresden and stopped by in Stuttgart for a visit to the Mercedes Benz and Porsche Museum. Our party of 5 was nicely accommodated in the "5 Bed Apartment". It included 2 beds in the main living room, another 2 beds in the first bedroom and 1 single bed in the second bedroom. The room had only one bath. At the time of our stay, there was no lift in the main building but they were in the midst of installing one. We also used the parking facilities which was reasonably priced and secure. Overall, the apartment most certainly met our needs for the short layover for a reasonable price and a good location.

We found this gem in stuttgart . All the staff are so helpful and friendly , five minute walk in to the heart of stuttgart . We decided to have a meal at the restaurant and had the meal of the century . The starter was out of this world and the wine to match . Highly recommend this hotel for food and wine lovers around the world .

The Hotel Wurtz / Zur Weinsteige is a fresh breath in Stuttgart. Although they were busy with renovations, the hotel has friendly staff and a wonderful restaurant. Off the road parking (although very cramped) made it easy to relax in style.
"Charming hotel, attentive staff, and simply amazing restaurant"
03/22/14 Hugh M
I chose this spontaneously, as I often do, and had no idea about location. I was greeted with a warm smile, unflustered great service, and a charming room (but a bit small). The restaurant, and related service though, was the winner for me. Started with the ox-tail essence (a consomme) with its own praline, then pork cooked two ways (belly pork and sous-vide leg which was simply divine). the wins selection is absurd (10,000 wines on premise) but reasonably-priced, and the surprise chef's treat at the start and end was nice: prawn on eggplant mouse with a lobster mouse, then a lovely truffle with my coffee). Would be back here in a heart beat.
"My Favorite Hotel in Stuttgart"
02/28/14 John P Ashburn, Virginia
This family run hotel is my personal favorite in Stuttgart. Over the past year and several trips I have stayed here about 2 months. The reason I love this hotel is the people, service and location. The hotel is also very pretty, featuring an amazing Koi pond that is multi-level and from the restaurant, you can see into the tank. Although in the heart of the city, each morning you awake to the sounds of birds chirping and a view of the beautiful garden and Koi pond. Summer is the absolute best time to enjoy it, and make sure you get a room facing the courtyard. There are actually two buildings on the property. The main building is my favorite. It has a more classic design, and the other building a more modern design. Breakfast is wonderful with many choices and they will make you fresh eggs and coffee as well. In the evening, the dining room becomes a top-notch restaurant serving excellent food and wine and having won many awards. There is also a small bar in the hotel where you can get a beer at the end of the day. There is no elevator in the main building, but they are adding one on and should be ready in a few months. The only thing I don't like about this hotel is the parking garage. It can be very tight and on one trip, I scraped the side of my rental car on a post. On another trip, there wasn't enough room to get my car out and we had to locate the owner. A minor inconvenience in light of how wonderful everything else is. If you want a homogenized experience, gym, pool, business center, etc, then I would recommend the Marriott or another of the chain hotels. But if you want to experience Stuttgart and the hospitality of a family-owned hotel, then look no further.
