"Friendly staff and quiet location"
We were very satisfied with this B&B for our stay in Bruges. My wife and I both enjoyed the walk to the city limits (10 min) as it was quite peaceful and safe. City centre was then only another 10 minutes walk from there. The B&B owners were polite, helpful and accommodating. They answered any questions we had and provided insight into the must-sees […] in Bruges. Breakfast was standard and the check-in/check-out was smooth. Be sure to let them know when you'll be arriving so you know they will be there otherwise you will have to call the number they have posted. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great room for the money"
This B&B is a great deal. Good location for the price. Just 10 minute walk to central Brugge. Nice neighborhood with grocery store and restaurants around the corner. Good option for families. Great breakfast in sunroom. Free parking a bonus!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A comfortable hotel and a friendly, helpful owner."
My fiancee and I very much enjoyed our stay at Gasthof Groenhove. The beds were comfy, the rooms had everything you would expect for a short stay, and the bathrooms were finished to a good standard with a nice hot and powerful shower. Hans, the owner, was very friendly and accommodating of our few, small queries and requests. Within a few minutes of […] arriving he had given us a useful run down of the main attractions of the town, marked on a map. Breakfast was tasty - a variety of bread rolls, cheeses, cereals, yoghurts and pastries, along with hot boiled eggs. The hotel is a nice, 20 minute stroll from the heart of the city, in a quiet residential area. We spent all our time in the city proper, so cannot speak for the quality of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean and friendly"
Guest house/hotel about 20 mins walk from the centre of town. Hans, the proprietor is pleasant and will spend time when you first arrive to give you a map and explain where certain things to see are. The hotel is clean, and the rooms were spacious. The hotel is quiet, has pleasant gardens, and there is parking.Genuine Expedia guest review
The Hotel is more like moving into someones home for a few days, so the decor was more typical of a Belgian house than a hotel. The outside parking area is a bit scruffy, but don't let that put you off. The welcome was wonderful, and the Hoteliers put you at your ease straight away. When we needed a fan (it was a hot couple of days) one was provided […] immediately. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Nice shower, but the towells were a bit tatty. Breakfast was continental, and plentiful. Its a 20 minute walk into the centre of Bruge which is a fantastic City, but very expensive to eat in. Al lin all, this Hotel is ideal for anyone on a driving holiday. We would happily stay there again, which says it all really Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The best place to stay with family"
What a nice place to stay, it has everything you need. The service by the staff is one of the best i´ve ever got, very cosy place, clean, just 10 minutes walking from downtown, For sure I will come back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Interesting small hotel"
I stayed at the hotel during a visit to Brugge. The hotel is small in size and has a genuine feeling to it. The welcoming to the hotel was heartwarming and the information given about the hotel and Brugge was good and informative. Our room had a nice newly renovated bathroom with a bathtub for two. The bed was comfortably soft. The breakfast was good […] but nothing extraordinary. A hotel I would consider coming back to if visiting Brugge again.

"Gemuetliche Villa in Zentrumsnaehe"

"An absolute gem "

This gasthof could not have been better. It's an absolute gem and I would highly recommend it to others. The building is a beautiful villa located in it's own grounds with free car parking for guest in a quiet residential area but just a short walk to the historic centre of bruges. The hosts were so welcoming including arranging an early morning breakfast when we had to leave at 6am. The normal breakfast at 8-30 had absolutely everything you could possibly want for breakfast- hot rolls, croissants, pain au chocolate, cheeses, cold meats, range of teas.. And the most amazing chocolate cake!! Our room & en suite was beautifully fresh.. So quiet and comfortable. I rarely think I've had such a good nights sleep away from home All in all- a wonderful stay in this unique gasthof in a beautiful city. Thank you
"A Great Find!"
03/30/14 Late-Day-Traveller Thunder Bay, Canada
It took a little searching, never having been to Belgium before, but what a treat when we pulled into the driveway to find this three storey older home that has been converted in to a five room hotel. In Canada we'd probably call it a B & B, but that might be selling it short. Our room on the ground floor was VERY spacious with tons of closet space and a decent sized work area. Bathroom was equally large with a jet tub as well. Clean as a whistle, of course. Grounds are immaculate and have several smaller ponds, complete with three wild ducks that come looking for food while avoiding (very successfully) the area cats. Nice place to sit and enjoy a good book with a glass of wine, as we did. Rates very favourable and included a typical European breakfast of breads, meats, cheeses and cereals. Short walk (10 minutes) to the old city of Bruges and another 10 to the very centre. Well located a few blocks from the city ring road. Hans and Angelina, the hosts, were a wealth of information and treated us warmly throughout. I have NO hesitation about recommending this property highly.
"Beautiful family friendly guesthouse"
09/07/13 Aardvark2013 Ely, Minnesota
We were thrilled to find this attractive guesthouse, which is set back from a quiet residential street in Assebroek, 15 minutes walk from the touristy centre of Bruges. As a family of five, it is not always easy to find hotel accommodation to suit, but here we had two interconnected rooms, accessible from a single door. One had a large double and a single bed and the other was a twin. The rooms were spotless and spacious. The owner speaks fluent English and was very welcoming, providing information and maps of the area on arrival. Breakfast was in an attractive conservatory and consisted of boiled eggs, pastries, bread, cheese, yogurts and homemade cake. There is a supermarket near by, so you can easily stock up on picnic supplies (a good idea given the high prices in Bruges). The only downside was not having a kettle in the room. We would go back.
"lovely large house in quiet area"

Had a pleasant friendly welcome from Heinz on arrival. He told us a bit about the area & gave us a map & marked all the areas of interest on it. He also loaned me a road map of how to get to a beach in holland which was less than an hour away. Breakfast was from 8.30 till 10. cereals, meat, cheese, rolls, jams etc, enough to keep you going for a few hours. Room was spotlessly clean & freshly decorated. Do bring a kettle though as there is not one supplied. Beds very comfortable & bathroom had a good quality shower. Free parking is a bonus & its about a 20 minute stroll into the centre of beautiful Bruges. Had a great 3 days here, would definitely return!
"A gem of a find"
05/30/13 simp001 Biddulph, United Kingdom
My wife, son and myself recently returned from a short break to Bruges where we stayed at the Gasthof Groenhove. As previous reviewers have stated it is within 15-20 minutes of the centre, has on-site parking (no charge) and clean and spacious rooms. Breakfasts were plentiful with cereal, meats, cheeses, pastries and cake plus a good selection of teas, coffee and fruit juice. On arrival Hans provides a brief introduction to Bruges and provided us with a map giving directions from the hotel to the various attractions together with a card which, when shown at the attractions, enabled a reduced entrance fee to be obtained. The room also had a well stocked mini bar, although we did not take advantage of it, we would of preferred tea/coffee making facilities. Taking everything into account we were very satisfied and would not hesitate in using the hotel again. It was nice to be able to park the car on arriving and not using it again until our departure on the final day.

Agree with all the previous complimentary comments.....a clean small hotel within walking distance of the city centre(c. 15 minutes to the city gate), free wifi etc Although there are no coffee making machines etc in your room you are only about 200 yards from a very well hidden Carrfour supermarket......where you can stock up for drinks/refreshments for your stay and return journey. The hotels owner is charming and could not be more helpful.....speaks excellent English ...... Easy to find the Hotel using satnav and you are able to park your car in the large private secure garden. Bruges is like a much smaller version of Amsterdam but without all the nasty bits and the crowds......the only thing we saw leaning out of a window was a labrador dog sunbathing it's head!!! Enjoy your stay .....we did

Nice hotel in a quiet part of the district. 20Min walk into the centre of town. We were 5 adults and one baby and the 2 bedroom accommodation was good. Nice bathroom and shower. We were on the top floor so a little climb but no problem. Host was very helpful and full of information about the things to see in town. Breakfast was good and enough to eat and drink. Several restaurants close by as well as a small supermarket. Good parking, nice garden.

Excellent host who spoke good English and was very helpful with his local knowledge. Clean hotel in a quiet location but only 5 minutes walk from local shops, pubs, restaurants etc Good sightseeing location as only 20 minutes walk from Brugge Centre, but the busses run every 10 minutes.
"Would highly recommend"
01/07/13 europair germany
A lovely large guest house on the outskirts of Bruges, set in a beautiful garden. Our room was big and light with traditional furniture. It was very homely, and even had a little Christmas tree, complete with lights. The bathroom was larger than average and had a lovely big bath. Everywhere was very clean. We realized on arrival that breakfast would be served too late for us, as we had to set off early to catch a ferry at Calais. At first, the landlord seemed a little thrown by our request to have a coffee and a light breakfast earlier than usual, but he said that he would ‘see what he could do’. In the morning we were thrilled to smell freshly baked bread as we went downstairs, and then to realize that he had specially prepared a full breakfast for us. We had a wonderful breakfast and especially enjoyed the delicious pastries and croissants. We really appreciated his kindness in doing this for us. We would definitely return and recommend this establishment to others.
"Gasthof Grovenhove - great little hotel, nice service good location!"
The Gasthof is a great little hotel - has the feel of a guest house but with the practicality of a hotel. The room we had was spacious, nicely appointed very clean and comfortable - a few little touches that they had included made the room feel warm and welcoming. Hans is really nice there to meet and welcome you in, gives you a quick reference of main attractions on a map that he gives you - he is really friendly and helpful without being invasive. Location is a 15-20 minute walk to the centre of Bruges in a residential street. It is pancake flat so as long as you are ok with walking its a very easy stroll, just far enough outside to feel its a break from hustle and bustle of the city when you return. Breakfast is ample, fresh and perfect (for our taste) to start the day. Hans is there to give you coffee and tea as you need. Overall it's just rights for a visit to Bruges - on site parking - saw lots of people lunging suitcases on cobbled streets for city centre hotels- don't do it this hotel is a much better choice. Only suggestion Hans - tea / coffee making facilities in the room - a nice little thing especially in the winter - when we arrived back after an all day in the cold a sit down and cup of tea would have been nice before we set off back out for the evening - but that's a minor issue in a otherwise really good experience! Thanks added to a lovely trip to Bruges!
