Valle del Buttero Hotel Residence - Capalbio

We enjoyed our stay very much!! We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and shortly after our arrival, the staff brought us champagne on ice with 2 champagne flutes which we enjoyed out on our balcony with our breathtaking view!!! Our room was clean, bright and airy, with some old world charm and elegance. The breakfasts were plentiful, staff were accommodating and friendly. Only downfall was that the hotel restaurant was pricey and limited so we only ate one meal there. We went into Porto Santo Stefano for dinner every night, which was not terribly far but had to travel on dark winding roads as the hotel was very remote. But we loved it at Hotel Torre di Calapiccola! The grounds were gorgeous, with views of the mountains and sea all around. Wish we could have stayed longer. We will definately be back!

La Caletta was a wonderful little hotel on the far end of the harbor with a great swimming and umbrella area. It has the advantage of being right on the wate, past the busy street with restaurants and shops. Ignore GPS and mapquest--you will never find it that way if you are driving. just drive into Argentario and follow the streets along the harbor edge all the way to the far end, passing the Coast Guard station. It is just past there. The maid service was the best I have seen in years--a spotless room, they give you beach towels but you must ask, the gentleman at the desk speaks several languages and is very very helpful and pleasant. The AC works well, not always the case in European hotels, the bed comfortable and not as hard as some in Europe. The decor is shabby chic, thinking 1950s Daytona Beach Florida, but spotless. The breakfast is a good spread, with the ability to get scrambled or fried eggs on request. Would recommend this as a lovely little place to spend a couple of nights.

We are praising this hotel highly. However, we recognize that others may not feel the same, as our expectations of travel are different from many people's. We were looking for a hotel near Civitivecchia after a cruise. We wanted to see the antiquities in Tarquinia, and this filled the bill. It is a quaint little hotel with a terrace overlooking the sea and surrounding countryside. The price we paid was exceptional, thus our high ratings in value for the money. It has a restaurant, although we did not eat there. The room is simply adequate, with a comfortable bed. The location is easy to get to on a free shuttle bus right near the public bus from Civitivecchia. There is also a public bus for e.60 (yes euros, 60 cents!) to the train station, every 20 minutes. So all is very handy. You can walk to this hotel from that location in 5 minutes without a suitcase, and 10 minutes, with. Finally, the people who work there go out of their way to try to help you in English and to see that your stay is comfortable. We greatly appreciated their efforts!

We landed in Rome at 9 so we needed a stop, part way up the Toscany coast. This hotel was in the right geographic spot, and we arrived about 11 p.m. While the desk clerk at nights English was poor, we got everything we needed. Parking was easy, the Wifi was fine in the restaurant and the breakfast was good. Very nice room. I would definitely stop here again.

My daughter and I stayed 2 nights and were very pleased. The staff were friendly and helpful with our bicycles. Location could not be better. Nice breakfast.
