I belive hotel reviews are useful only to some extent since people tastes vary, but if you are into small cozy hotels this is the one for you. Is a wonderful florentine home, clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful, Signor Mario is 'un italiano vero'. I will be back...Genuine Expedia guest review
"Awesome hotel, great location!"
My husband and I honeymooned throughout Italy and Florence was one of our stops. We stayed at this quaint hotel and we loved it. It is in an AMAZING location, in the heart of everything. The hotel is very old but super charming. Our room was very beautiful- it had original frescos on the extremely high ceilings. The room and bathroom were very spacious, […] especially for European standards. The AC on the other hand was not super cold and the beds were not very comfortable, hence the reason I gave comfort a 4/5. Breakfast was mediocre-typical in Italy- but the staff was AMAZING!!!! Mario, Rela, George and Ashu were more than welcoming always willing to help. I would definitely recommend this hotel!!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location, Excellent Price & Hospitality"
One enters this intimate little Hotel using a doorbell as the reception is reached by elevator or stairs one floor above the street. The rooms are small but nicely appointed with several amenities included. A delightful continental breakfast was included with the room.Genuine Expedia guest review
We had a wonderful 2 night stay in Florence at this remarkable hotel for our honeymoon. We stayed in the triple room, which had a King sized bed (two twin mattresses on a frame) and a pretty day bed. The frescoes on the ceiling were the reason we booked the hotel, in addition to the location, just a couple of blocks from the train station. After an […] entire day of seeing art at the Uffizi and the gorgeous frescoes on the ceiling of the Palazzo in the square, coming "home" to this room was remarkable. The staff were classy, accomodating, and knowledgable. Art and culture lovers -- do not miss out! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Hotel in Florence"
This was my favorite stay in our two weeks in Italy. Mario was an excellent host, the room was clean & comfortable, the bathroom was modern and clean, and we had an original fresco on the ceiling! The hotel is an easy walk from the train station, another short walk the other direction to the Duomo, and also close to Ponte Vecchio, Academia, and Iffizi, […] for easy sight seeing, all in walking distance. The room was also quiet, with wifi and a nice breakfast was provided. I unfortunately became very ill after check-out while we still had our bags checked in with hotel, and Mario was extremely helpful in making sure I was going to be ok, offering to bring in a doctor, and booking us an additional night in the annex as the hotel was booked that night. I recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location friendly staff"
We had a rather large room for European standards that was plainly decorated but comfortable. the owner was very pleasant and eager to please, he spoke very good English and made a great cappuccino too. The breakfast was adequate, the coffee delicious. The cake was homemade and very yummy and when I inquired as to the baker, it was determined to be […] the gentleman that was on call in the evenings. Overall I liked this little spot. Not fancy, but quaint, friendly and well located Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Florence for families"
Stayed my family of four. Two kids 6 and 8. We drove to Flornce and parking garage was next door. Very convenient! The family room was big enough and comfortable. My husband really enjoyed our stay and recommended the hotel to his parents who are Italian. For our one night stay it was great, close to everything.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Our Stay in Florence, Italy"
Fifteenth Century Palace converted to an excellent hotel. Once we found it on a very narrow street we felt made at home by the very friendly staff. Our room had restored frescoes on the walls and ceiling. Excellent location to see everything in Florence.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent service, ideal location"
This hotel has a great deal of character, which is very attractive but also means that the single rooms are compact. It's located on the second floor of a building and accessed by a door entry system. There is a small lift, which can accommodate 2 people with luggage. The location is central and perfect for accessing the main attractions in Florence, […] particularly in and around the Duomo. The railway station is a few minutes walk away. The standard of cleanliness was high and the staff were superb - friendly and efficient. Breakfast was buffet style, with plenty of choice of pastries. I would happily stay here again. "Excellent Service and Great Location"
This was a surprise "find". The level of customer service here was beyond expectations. I travel extensively in Europe, and rarely find this level of customer attention even at large expensive chains. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the touristically sights and there are garages for parking nearby. The rooms are exceptional by almost any standard. […] I would easily stay here again. "A firendly place to stay"
First off, i will start by answering the question, "would I stay there again?". The answer is definitely. I actually stayed in two different rooms. I initally booked three nights in a standard room. I later wanted to add another night and only the standard single room was available. Both rooms were pretty spacious by European standards. Even the single […] room had a double sized bed. For the cost difference, i would stay in the standard room next time. Beautiful frescoed ceilings 15-20' high ceiling. Even the bathroom had 10' high ceilings. This is.a smaller family run place and the owner is very friendly and helpful. The location was great. I walked from the train station and the duomo is a 5 minute walk from here. The free breakfast is pretty standard (crossiant, cerals, etc) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, great staff and beautiful hotel."
We travelled to Florence for a wedding which was about 15km outside the city so took the opportunity to stay a few days and explore. Once booked, I emailed the hotel for some additional information, mainly hairdressers, nail bars etc. At first there was a little confusion with the booking but that was quickly resolved and they were very prompt with […] their replies, I think it was the owner who remembered the confusion and again apologised in person, nice touch. Having read that the hotel was difficult to find I looked on "Street View" to have an idea of what the street/entrance looked like, very handy. The hotel is in a great location for all the usual sites, fantastic bar on the corner and great restaurant on the left. When we arrived the young man on reception was extremely helpful with perfect English. The room we booked was called a Junior Suite, although it was only 1 room with en-suite bathroom, it was huge, frescoes on every wall and on the ceiling. The hotel is in an old building, 16th century we were told, and it was beautiful, no street noise, triple glazing with wooden shutters and great a/c. Breakfast is basic if you like a full english, it's the usual Italian fare, the cappuccino is fab! The Wi-Fi is a little iffy but not a major problem, the bed is typically Italian, metal frame with springs and a mattress, not the most comfortable but that's Italy! We found all the staff polite and helpful with a good command of the English language, couldn't ask for more. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This was the first time in Florence. The hotel is close to the train station which made it easy to walk to with suitcases. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The room was spacious. I loved the high ceilings and the character of the place. Breakfast was included and was good. I would not hesitate to stay there again should I visit Florence again. […] A very good experience. The room was quite charming with the frescoed ceiling, and much larger than we expected. It was little confusing as to how to actually enter the hotel (no obvious signage, just a small bell on the street to be admitted through the iron gates) but once we were inside, it was reminiscent of the "pensione" style with classic furniture and operatic music […] playing. Sort of old-fashioned, but elegant without spending a fortune. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Tucked away hotel with "salon" atmosphere"
Perfectly pleasant hotel close the duomo. Room was on the small side but that is typical in a major Italian city. Breakfast room area is like a salon, nice atmosphere and food choices. Courteous and hospitable staff, I'd certainly stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A Room with a Sistine Chapel Atmosphere"
The location is a stone's throw fm the main station but the cobblestone road will make it difficult to easily trolley your luggage there but persistence probably can. It is a boutique hotel where every room is different. My room was extremely spacious for a family of 4. A lot of space to open luggages comfortably. Very easy to get to city centre for […] food and shopping. The front desk manager, Mario, is a delightful man who is helpful and friendly. The breakfast was simple but only wished they had a toaster to warm the bread. Otherwise the cafes are just a hop and a skip away for better breakfast. Lovely cosy hotel, I recommend it. Set behind large gates in a quiet city road close to simply every attraction in Florence this accommodation is a gem. It is literally a few minutes walk from the railway station and all other major attractions in the city. Once a palace the building has become several homes and Burchianti has accommodation on the first and third floors. We were upgraded to a suite on the third floor complete with small kitchen, although there were no utensils to use it as such. This room was large with good views. The bedrooms on the first floor that we looked at before leaving were large with amazing frescoes on the walls and ceilings. Staff were delightful and ready to please. Nothing was too much trouble and Mario gave us many tips on where to go and where to eat. There are many eateries in the area but be warned food is not cheap in Florence unless you want to live on pizza.
"Excellent service but very noisy room"
The hotel Birchianti has many positives - it's close to the train station, easy walking distance to all the galleries & churches, and it is a lovely place hidden away in a building. The man running it is helpful, courteous and friendly. However I booked a single room - and didn't read the reviews in detail first to realise I should have paid more to get one of the rooms others raved about with murals etc. My room is perfectly nice, comfortable bed, good furnishings, mini fridge, view over the courtyard etc. Great water pressure in the shower too (rare!). My issue was the noise. It may only be this one room that has this issue but every step or word or bang in the corridor from other guests coming and going or down in the courtyard or stairs or buzzing to get in through the gate was incredibly loud & echoing. I assume its the hard marble stairs & walls? Thin doors too? I constantly hear plumbing noises from what I imagine are the rooms above. The constant noises bothered me quite a lot when I was in my room or trying to get to sleep or stay asleep in the morning. Bring ear plugs!
"Your own palazzo"

Staying at the Burchianti is like having your own palazzo in the center of Florence. Renaissance décor with frescoed ceilings and detailed moldings. Mario provides the warmest hospitality and is happy to make suggestions for restaurants and sights. A lovely breakfast in the salon. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Florence!

Our stay at Hotel Burchianti was the highlight of our travels throughout Italy. The decor is classically Florentine in excellent taste and the hotel is situated in an area which is convenient to every destination. Our host, Mario, was hospitable, helpful, and delightful and we hope to return in the future. Daniela Sala Millet Felicia Sala Snow
"Oasis of peace in busy city"
10/06/14 Irene R Edinburgh
Although situated a short walk from the station and within easy walking distance of the historical centre the Burchianti is a tranquil place to relax. The bedrooms are comfortable and clean with AC and a fridge, and most have fresco type décor. Mario, the manager, is charming and provided us with useful information including excellent nearby restaurant choices (La Madia, next door, particularly good).Breakfast, served in the pleasant reception/lounge area was excellent with a good variety of choice. All the staff are pleasant and helpful. I would certainly stay here again and can highly recommend it as a base for a Florentine holiday.
"Great location, nice hotel"
10/02/14 SnorkelboyChicago Chicago
Central location, a little hard to find first time, but once you do, what a treat. You get buzzed into a courtyard, then take an elevator up the first floor - lobby / breakfast area. Mario and staff were great. He took time to "introduce" us to the room. Great views (higher floor). Seems like everything was within 5 / 6 blocks. Lots of restaurants in area - Mario had good recommendations. Very clean property. Quite at night. Local grocery / food stores in area.
"Love the atmosphere"

I've been to Hotel Burchianti for the 4th time. Very accommodating and friendly. I've stayed a few other places in Italy, and it just feels like home. Mario has always been helpful, and the new staff seem to be following in his footsteps.
"Don't miss it!"
09/22/14 Purumsik Moscow, Russia
Really, don't miss your chance to stay in the center of fabulous Firenze in such an elegant and amazing hotel! Location is great-quiet area, 5 minutes to Santa Maria Novella and about10 minutes to Duomo! According to Mario - one of the most charming hotel managers, that I've ever seen, the building itself dates to the 16th century. In our room (junior suite) we witnessed frescos and ceiling decoration from that period-simply stunning-imagine, that you are sleeping in Sistine chapel! Bathroom is covered in marble, room is furnished with two double beds, antique wardrobe, table, chairs. Breakfast is fine, enough for walking until lunch, more important, that it is followed by masterpieces of classic music or jazz. All staff is friendly and helpful, we got lots of tips to explore Florence and even Venice. Atmosphere is amazing, just like you came home, but at the same time you are in the medieval Florence. Burchianti is definitely the place where you want to come back!
"The exterior of the property is deceiving"
09/15/14 Jed P Middletown
The Hotel does not have the traditional look of a hotel from the street. In fact, it looks like a residence. You must ring the bell to have the iron gate opened, travel up a flight of stairs before you reach the lobby. Once inside, the property has all the charm of Italy. The rooms are large and have period pieces for furniture. Our room had amazing murals on the walls and fresco on the ceiling. The property is located on a quiet street a short and easy walk from the train station and a close walk to the main squares. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
"Beautiful boutique hotel!"
08/25/14 TorontoFlourgirl TorontoFlourgirl
The hotel is not obvious from the outside so you need to watch for the address and look for the brass plaque on the building with the name. We were welcomed warmly in a very pretty reception room and taken to our room (number 10). The outstanding feature was the ceiling which was a fresco painted in the 1700's. The room was small but perfect. The bathroom could use better amenities and when we went to put things in the small room safe, we realized it was not attached and you could walk away with the entire safe! There was no window in the room except for the window in the door so if that is important to you, better ask for a different room. We hardly noticed that as we were so busy looking at the amazing ceiling. The location is great - 5 mins from the train station and walking distance to the many wonderful landmarks. There are also many restaurants nearby. We love it and would definitely stay there again.
