"Great location for a walking tour of Florence"
11/06/14 aubreyandbeth Collierville, Tennessee
Our group took over the entire B&B for a 5 day stay in Florence. The location was perfect. An arrangement with a local bar provided a great breakfast every morning. The owner, Giuseppe, was friendly and helpful in making dinner reservations and mapping out the city and attractions for us. The showers were very cramped in 2 of the rooms and one had no shower, but a tub with a hand shower and no shower curtain. Temperature was perfect in the rooms and it was quiet at night, but room darkening shades would be a good addition
"Loved this place!"
Like most people traveling to Italy, we used the Rick Steve's book (we saw the book all over!!) to identify possible hotels or B&B options for our time in Florence. We checked out a bunch of options but this one looked to have it all - location, charm, affordability and AWESOME hosts! We stayed in two rooms during our stay (Tip: book as far in advance as possible- this is a popular place!) - the Actor and the Mirrors. The rooms were both great, but if you made me choose I would pick the Actor suite, only because of the bathroom. The Mirrors suite doesn't have a "typical" stand up shower. By European standards these rooms are massive and by US standards I think they're still large. The place is very well decorated and you can tell care and love went into their remodel of the building. We did the Rick Steve's DIY rate which was a little less and didn't include a full breakfast (certificates to a cafe around the corner). It wasn't that much more to add ($11 Euro/day I think), but we wanted to try little places here and there in Florence so this option worked for us. When we arrive, we were pleasantly greeted by Giuseppe, who checked us in and provided us with the wi-fi code, a map of the area and the keys. He also provided us with a map of the city and drew the best routes to the main tourist areas. Before our arrival, Cristina made reservations for us to see the David, so it was nice to have the reservations made and not worry about it. They can make reservations for you anywhere, just ask. And, by the way, if you do not have plans to see the David, you need to change those plans and see it! Even if you're not an art-loving person, it's a stunning piece of work and history that should not be missed. The location of this hotel is super convenient. It was walkable to everything. Most things were within 10-15 minutes and there is so much to look at, you hardly notice if you've gone further than that! Cristina and Giuseppe were so kind and their hospitality was appreciated and this B&B is awesome. We would most definitely return and recommend you go! Now! What are you waiting for?!
"Great Location, Comfortable Accommodations, Welcoming Hosts"

I discovered this B&B in the Rick Steve’s Italy 2013 book and was immediately drawn to the beautiful suites offered. Checking out their website and of course, cross referencing reviews on Trip Advisor was the next step to making our decision to stay here in our trip to Florence in October 2014. We booked the Diva Suite almost a year in advance, it was very efficient working with Cristina on line to secure a 4 night booking taking advantage of the “Rick Steve’s I’ll Do It Myself” rates. Cristina also made reservations for us at 2 restaurants in the neighborhood that we were eager to visit, which was nice to be able to have locked in, in advance of our trip. We arrived in the afternoon and were pleasantly greeted by Giuseppe, who checked us in and provided us with the wi-fi code, a map of the area and the keys to the room, wall safe and front doors so we could come and go as we pleased. He also provided us with a map of the city and highlighted the main tourist areas and their relation to the Grand Tour making it clear how convenient it was to stay at that location. The room was adorable- a nice size comfortable bed, with a sitting area and a smaller twin size bed that could be separated by a curtain for privacy if need be, and a large armoire with a mini-fridge inside. It was very nice to be able to relax in the room and having space to spread out.Next to the larger bed was a desk (ideal vanity table) and an electric kettle, some cups, dishes and flatware. A selection of tea bags was located in the entry hall of the guest suite area. The bathroom was nice, spacious and clean with plenty of shelf space and a good, strong hair dryer. The weather was warmer than normal while we were there and thankfully, the room had awesome air conditioning. We were warned it was strong, and it was - but it was a blessing after a long, hot day of sightseeing and cooled the room down quickly upon our return each day. The neighborhood was nice and quiet and there were ample places to have dinner or just grab a snack. Of particular note was La Cucina del Garga (around the corner), i Toscano -also around the corner and has a good selection of gluten free menu options, and our absolute favorite of our entire vacation, Antica Trattoria "da Tito" dal 1913 (roughly a 7 minute walk). The location of this hotel is perfect- it was centrally located to practically every place you would want to visit in Florence, nothing was more than a 10-15 minutes away at the most. Cristina and Giuseppe were great hosts and we appreciated their hospitality. We enjoyed our stay and if we were to visit Florence again, we would definitely return to the Grand Tour.
"Location, hosts, comfort!"

This B&B really has it all. The location is great for walking all over Florence, including the train station. And I have to admit that it was nice to be on the main floor with a precious garden / seating area just outside our room. The room (the Actor's Suite) was beautifully decorated with some parts from the 1400's, and others more modern. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was laid out well. Needless to say, we slept very well. It was a large room with plenty of space for relaxing. Easy to change the temperature as needed, as well. The hosts / proprietors were delightful! They really knew the town and could answer even odd questions like, "Could you tell me about where Carlo Collodi is buried?" (Pen name of the gentleman who wrote Pinocchio) His eyes lit up as he told me about the church and how to get there. As Mum was tired, we didn't get there after all (yes, we'll go back!). In fact, she didn't want to go out to get dinner, so the hosts ordered pizza for us. Yes, they are very kind and are willing to help make your vacation all you would like it to be. Overall, I would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a satisfying trip to Florence. It's a great base of operations for location, comfort and wonderful hosts! We WILL return to this B&B.
"Good location in Florence"

We stayed in 6 different B&Bs in our travels across Italy and this one ranks somewhere in the middle. Our room was gorgeous and very large, well decorated, romantic. And having the bathroom around the corner was nice for not waking up the spouse when nature calls in the middle of the night. If you are traveling by train, this is an easy walk from the train station and on that side of the city which is nice. We waived the breakfast option which I highly recommend given others comments. There's a McDonalds like 2 blocks away and their breakfast knocks the socks off any McDonalds in the U.S. and saves you time so go look at sites. The owner was out of town the days we were there, so I think we missed out on some of the special touch that others mentioned- we never met them. We actually never really saw anyone.... A young man checked us in and we never saw another guest or employee.
"The proprietors make the difference"

This is a slice of old Florence, a traditionally decorated room (great ceiling) with a few innovative touches of modern decor. Good bed, which is important. As might be expected in an old building, there are a few quirks. Our bathroom was small and had no counter space, but there was a table in an adjoining area that we were able to use for toiletries. You may have to unplug a lamp to find a place to charge your cell phone. But what makes this place special are Cristina and Giuseppe, who live on premises with their family. They're smiling, friendly, and helpful, justifiably proud of their B&B. They suggested a terrific non-touristy restaurant for my wife's birthday, and also gave her a birthday surprise of wine and delicious cheese. Excellent value and enthusiastically recommended.

This B&B is an easy 5 - 10 minute walk to the train station. My son and I had to catch the first bus (5 am) to the airport and carried our luggage without a problem. This B&B is within easy (5 - 15 mins) walking distance to all the major sights depending on your pace. We meet Ricardo (son of the owners) when we arrived. We stayed in the Actor room. Other people's pictures show the rooms well. The Actor room was spacious with a nice spacious modern bathroom complete with soaps and shower/shampoo gels.. The shower was in the corner and was a little larger than the typical european phone booth shower. Unlimited hot water and excellent pressure. Untypically large and fluffy towels (for we americans who complain about the size of European towels). Good restaurants were within a 5 min walk near the Market.
"Nice home away from home"

Five of us stayed here in the Actor suite (2) and the La Diva suite (3). Giuseppe met us outside to give us keys and let us in. He then proceeded to give us maps and highlighted all of the "must visit" locations, and also provided some suggestions of places to eat. He also helped arrange a cab for us during our stay - even helping with a problem we had of the cab company sending too small of a car for the five of us. The La Diva suite was a good setup for three people as there was a large curtain to divide the room and give some privacy. The rooms were very nice and clean. The bathrooms were also very nice, clean, and spacious. The beds themselves were not the most comfortable but they were adequate. There was a small courtyard outside of our rooms that was nice to relax in during the evenings or first thing in the morning. Good location - this was close enough to all the sights but not right on the main strip so it was much quieter. It is also only about 2 blocks from the market which was AMAZING! Overall, we were very happy with our decision to stay here and would definitely stay here again!

We love this place! The owners are so terrific and the place is so comfortable--air conditioned and spotless. The location is perfect for seeing the main sites, and Cristina and Guiseppe are so helpful. Great value!

This is an absolutely gorgeous B&B. The rooms are very large and nicely decorated for the price you pay and they are quiet as well. We stayed in the Diva suite and it was absolutely perfect. There is a beautiful outdoor patio which is surrounded by plants and flowers. We had picnics and wine on the patio and it was great! You can get a full breakfast option at a local Cafe for 7 Euro extra or they have coffee, tea, biscuits and jam for free. The owners Cristina and her husband were wonderful hosts. They gave us a map of Florence and outlined where to go. All the sights are walking distance away. We would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone.
