10 min walk from the Pompei Church train station. And easy access to the archaeological site, 10 min walk to either entrance. Staff are really nice and friendly, but the rooms are barely comfortable. The bed is hard to sleep on. Private bath is also dated, the sink hangs at an angle less than horizontal and the shower did not drain much at all. Room […] is clean enough, but no teapot. Good thing is that the shutters really make it dark in the room and along with the windows block out most of the noise. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Conveniently located to Pompeii Ruins"
The hotel is within walking distance to the Pompeii Ruins. It was quiet and is located in town with private parking. Although it is listed as a hotel it reminded me more of a B&B. The owners were great! They were friendly and helpful with directions and also allowed us to leave our luggage there after check-out so that we could visit some other tourist […] attractions. The room had air conditioning that worked well. I would recommend this hotel for your visit to the ruins. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It suited us"
Nice, clean, friendly and fairly close to the ruins. Staff very helpful with everything. More explicit instructions are needed as to how to get there as it is 3 blocks from the Pompei railway station - but NOT Pompei Scavi. In fact it's on a different line altogether and you need to get this right if coming from Naples as it's a loooong walk or costs […] an exorbitant taxi fare. Breakfast needs improvement as there wasn't much variety but overall it met all our needs for the night we stayed Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exceptionally friendly helpful service & location"
This family run small hotel ticks all the boxes and more. Independent recommendation for a moderately priced local Italian restaurant evening meal with traditional food was perfect. Very convenient for early entry to the archeological site at the east entry gate before the hoardes arrive through the main entrance. Breakfast of coisant, coffee and fruit […] juice was small but adedequate and served with pleasantry. Secure accommodation was provided for our bicycles; there is a secure forecourt for those who travel by car . Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Nice and helpful Family run business. Clean. Balcony but view not pleasant out back. Smallest shower I've seen lol and not the best quality twin beds.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent value and breakfast, close to sights,"
This is the place to stay in Pompeii. Only 3 blocks from the train station, but set back from the street so nice and quiet. First class service, all the staff very friendly and helpful with information on places to see in Pompeii - the view from the church bell tower is fabulous (learned this from hotel staff). The breakfast was lovely, tall coffee […] for my husband, tea for me (the next morning he remembered exactly) - nice variety with fresh orange juice, cereal, baking - the chocolate croissants - so delicious. Our room was very clean, I love the European linen towels, they dry very well. This family run hotel is very lovely - the antique furniture in the breakfast room so nice (not like some plain basic places we have stayed) They were so kind they even gave us a ride to the train station (other one on opposite side of town) as we had a lot of luggage - which was very sweet of them. Would definitely stay again :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice place - three and a half stars"

Breakfast was good. Had a really yummy Croissant style thing with Apricot baked in it. Bedroom was fairly good size. Bathroom was a little bit on the small side (teeny tiny shower cubicle). You do get some noise from the road (mostly cars beeping at the roundabout opposite the hotel). And you can get some noise from the corridor outside the rooms, though not loads... just people doing early morning check-outs Location is good (so long as you find it ok). Much better to get into Pompeii via the entrance near the hotel rather than go in the tourist bit. If you're coming with your bags from Naples to Pompeii just make sure you don't take the Circumsuvia to Pompeii as this will lead you to have to walk 2KM with your stuff to reach this place! There are a couple of other train lines nearby that you need to catch. I asked for directions but the hotel never managed to send me them (or maybe there was a problem with emails). Managers were helpful, though if I could learn some Italian I would have gotten a bit more info. Price is much better than staying in Sorrento. They have a nice dog too.

Booked after reading excellent reviews, stayed here for 3 nights. Small family run hotel. The owners and staff could not be more helpful. The hotel is set back from the main road, therefore quiet inside. It is only about 400m from the second entrance of the Pompeii ruins (in a straight line so you can't get lost). Our room was spotlessy clean, complete with air conditioning and a large balcony. We had been cycling around Italy and had 2 bikes - there was no problem with safe storage. Definitely recommend it to friends, and would stay here again.

We had planned a day trip to visit the Pompeii excavations and did not expect to stay overnight. We did not have a reservation the owner of Il Principe restaurant personally called the Calypso for us and made the arrangements for us to stay. We were greeted by the owner, a very pleasant and courteous gentleman. We were able to park our car on their private lot and the owner even allowed us to keep it there after our check out so that we could spend a couple of more hours in this very charming city. The rooms were clean, comfortable, air-conditioned, nice shower and overall very, very pleasant. Their rates are a fraction of what we've paid elsewhere for at less than desirable accommodations. The Calypso rivals many of the places we've stayed. The owner showed us around his personal art collection and gave my daughter, who is studying hotel management some invaluable career advice. We had a few cappuccinos at the small bar in their lobby and I must say that they were some of the best we've had. This is a lovely family establishment and we were greeted as such. I highly recommend the Calypso Hotel in Pompeii and will definitely stay here again. Grazie :)

"Reasonable clean, friendly place to stay!"

We needed a place to stay overnight and chose the Calypso Hotel in Pompeii. As noted the family can not be nicer. They make you feel very comfortable, and serve a lovely breakfast in a lovely decorated room. The beds are a little hard and the heat was not turned on, but we didn't ask. The lovely owner said we could leave our car parked if we were visiting the ruins, which I thought was very kind. We would definately stay at this hotel again and have no problem recommending it.
"Quiet, comfortable, friendly"

We arrived in Pompei late one evening withour reservations, and stumbled upon this hotel. It is a family run establishment, with lots of smiles. The owners speak some English. The room was comfortable for 2 adults (queen bed) with two young children (bunk beds). The rate was 100 Euro which did include continental breakfast. At check-in I asked a young man working the front desk about tours of the Pompei ruins, and he said that he was a tour guide..He met us at 9 am the next morning. We had a wonderful 3 hour tour of the ruins! The cost was 70 Euro, plus admission to the ruins...still a good deal. He was very fluent in English, charming, and a great guide! I would recommend this hotel, and esp. the guide services of the owner's son.
"owners very friendly , rooms tiny"
12/08/09 Jols_58 australia
The hotel is close to the centre of town and the second entrance to the ruins (not the main entrance). The owners of this hotel are very friendly and happy to be of service. The continental breakfast was filling and satisfying. The rooms are clean but very tiny. Unfortunatley the beds are hard and we had to ask for extra pillows and for the heating to be turned on. There is a communal room downstairs which was good for the 4 of us. It would be better in the summer when heating is not required and the days are longer.

Chosen on line for location, not disappointed - could walk easily to main sites. There is nice friendly, homely feel to the hotel & were very understanding about us managing to double book ourselves (once under my name, once under my partners!) and were given very good advice and maps about visits to Vesuvius & Ercolano (a must). Room & en suite were comfortable & clean. Breakfast was fresh, adequate & taken in a very charming room. This was a little, inexpensive, very pleasant gem of a hotel.
