This place was fine. Firstly, when you drive along the only road to get to this place, there is a barrier/gate type thing. You need a code to get thru. I pushed the button and they told me to contact the hotel to get it??? Hotels.com didn't mention this in a confirmation email??? Anyway, we called the hotel and got it. Hotel is in the Main Street, parking across the road in an open parking area. Reception staff spoke English ok. Room was quite large, wifi only worked the closer you got to the door. Shower was fine, bed fine, - only problem was the door downstairs. It was soooo loud it just kept banging as guests left. Sounded like gunshots. The abbey is about 2km down the road. Perfect location. Bus stops out the front of hotel. Recommended .

Very clean - obviously not the most luxurious and expensive hotel in St Malo, but very clean and comforable. We had an ocean view, and it was nice. Bathrooms were convenient and nice. Bed was nice and there was plenty of room for stuff and a nice armoire for clothes.

Great hotel within the city walls, opposite the castle and in the main square. the location couldn't be better. Beds are comfy, room is clean and bathroom... is great. The staff are very friendly. Only problem was that wifi didn't work for us. The bar is outstanding - heritage listed. Has a great atmosphere. We had a delightful stay at the Hotel l'Univers where the reception desk staff could not have been more helpful. We booked our three day stay on line in a hurry and had not realised that the hotel was actually inside the Citadel at St Malo and really very chic and exciting with bustle, bars, ice creams, shopping, painters and musicians for entertainment.We […] parked our car in one of the nearby car parks and instead of paying over a euro an hour, the hotel sold us a ticket for a 24 hour period for 6 euros which we felt was good value.DO NOT bother with the hotel breakfast (tinned fruit salad, funny tasting eggs, marble cake.....and in a very ordinary and canteen-like dining room) as it is 9 euros a piece and one can get a much more delicious petit dejeuner for half the price at little cafes not far away. Restaurants abound all around the St Vincente Porte but DO try the delightful restaurants in the slightly more hip area around the Porte near the Plage du Mole on the other end of the Citadel. I found the hotel and staff very welcoming and it was perfectly placed to enjoy the old town in the evening and not too far to walk over to the Ferry Terminal in the morning! Carpets a bit threadbare but they are planning a refit at the moment. I would recommend this hotel even if I did struggle a bit with a heavy suitcase and tiny lift!

the hotel is in the best location for St. Malo its based inside the walls of the town. The hotel has been renovated to a high standard the rooms were clean and comfortable. I just wish that they had coffee/tea making facilities in the room, but other than that the hotel was excellent.

excellent possition for the ferry port but the hotel bedrooms are very outdated and dismall we have stayed at the hotel on two occassions overnight .and each time have been dissapointed with our bedroom but will stay there again because of the conveinience to the car park and port and resturants

Donnant idéalement sur la place Saint-Vincent, la chambre en cour intérieure s'impose. La propreté est irréprochable mais manquent un oreiller et la télécommande de la télé. Cette dernière est semandée à l'accueil qui trouve une solution mais il nous faut descendre deux étages pour larécupérer auprès d'un personnel très aimable pour autant

Perfekt belligenhet i gamlebyen av Saint Malo. Hotellet ligger inni den gamle middelalderborgen og det yrer av folkeliv utenfor gatene. Hvis du kommer med bil må du parkere bilen utenfor ved havnen og gå inn til hotellet. Veien er avstengt rundt hotellet. Standarden på rommene kan bli noe bedre, men beliggenheten veier opp for dette.
