The location is perfect, right across the street from the Valporetto (the water bus). Eugenio, the concierge is the best I have experienced in any hotel in any country. He went out of his way to make our stay wonderful. Coffee and tea any time of day, letting me use the hotel computer (several times), arranging a free motorboat ride to the glass works in Murano,marking a map with the number of the valporetto to take (including the times for when we had to leave early to get to the airport, and just being one of the nicest people I have ever met! The room was spacious and immaculate with three windows, one overlooking the Grand Canal. The bathroom was spotless and well lit, even had a towel warmer for the towels, the heating control was well appreciated since it snowed the day we arrived! With the Valporetto station just across the street it is easy to get anywhere in Venice. About 20 minutes from the bus station at Pont Roma on the 5.1 to the hotel. Or take the line 1 and cruise down the Grand Canal on the way to the hotel. I love Lido since one doesn't have to cross bridges or walk a long way to the hotel and there are many restaurant choices within a 2 block area.

"Enjoyable stay"
This hotel is a classic from back in time. We enjoyed the charm of the old stair wells, the curved floors due to age and the perfect venetian lighting fixtures. The location (on the grand canal) and the price also cannot be matched. Be aware that this is more like a B&B (total of something like 7 rooms) and they do not have an elevator so if you pack […] a lot, be prepared to have to lift your bag a few sets of stairs. "Small Canal View was a Lie but the AC worked."
The pros: - Good location - The Air Conditioning worked - The room was spacious The Cons: - The supposed 'canal view' was a total lie. This was really irritating to me because it is what sold the place to us. While yes we were on the small narrow canal side of the building you absolutely could not see ANY part of the canal. Even when I was standing […] up on a chair trying to look down. All you can see is the dirty wall you are situated next to. When I asked for a different room as it seemed as if there were others empty the girl told me we paid for the small canal view with our discounted rate. But there was NO view. - As our breakfast was dropped off, the desk man delivering it stated "remember, absolute latest checkout is at 10" What a weird way to start your day, being pestered about their oddly early checkout time. I'm assuming this was because he wanted to leave work for the day. - The staff does not stay on site. They literally wait until the last person arrives and then they leave. It's almost like you're staying at someones house, without them. They also don't give any sort of - 'should you need something contact....' information. - When we asked if we could keep our bags on site our last day, as we walked through town waiting for our train (remember, there was no extended checkout allowed) they were nice enough to give us access keys to the building but our stuff had to stay out in the open in the entry hallway, for anyone to take. Also, they were leaving the site. I believe for the most part this is fine and that most people wouldn't touch our stuff, but it wasn't very secure by any means so just a warning. Overall we were comfortable. But out of all of our hotels.com deals, I don't feel like this was a very good one. In my opinion in was over priced and under-delivered. But in the end it was clean and in a good location with working AC. So if this is your best bet, you wont be in bad shape. "Bad hotel experience"
This hotel was so hidden that we had to find a local person to help us find it! Although the instructions were exact, we still couldn't find the hotel as it was just a door in a courtyard with no identifying remarks (could be seen in daylight, but we arrived after dark). Then we had to climb 3 flights of stairs to reach our tiny tiny room with a very […] uncomfortable bed. The shower didn't work properly (water came off and on and didn't stay warm). Checkout was 10:00AM (whoever heard of this?). The clerk told us this at 9:30AM!! We asked for more time and he gave us a whole 15 minutes! He was polite enough to call for a water taxi for us and carry our heaviest bag back down the stairs. The nicest thing was the breakfast served in our room. I would only recommend this hotel if you are NOT interested in luxury of any sort and if you like the adventure of searching for a tiny hole in the wall after 24 hours of traveling!!!! I highly recommend Locando Leon Bianco if you are looking for a small, romantic, historic hotel on the Grand Canal, near the Vaparetto stop and great shopping and sightseeing! There is no lift, but Stefano carried our luggage up the stairs to the lobby with ease! The hotel is a short walk from the Ca d’oro vaporetto stop, and there is only one small bridge to cross. It is in a very nice shopping district and not far to the Rialto Bridge and shopping areas there, and probably 15 minutes pleasant walk to San Marco. I had requested a Canal view room as this was a special trip for my husband and I Stefano made sure we had a wonderful room. Our room was very large, decorated with what appeared to be antique Italian furniture, high ceilings, a lovely Italian glass chandelier and beautiful decorative carpet, with a small table and chairs in a large area overlooking the canal, and a very nice modern bath with tub/shower ensuite. The room had two large windows, with false iron balconies and wooden shutters overlooking the Grand Canal across from the Mercado Rialto and near the gondola crossing. I could see part of the Rialto Bridge from my window. It was fascinating to me to watch “Main Street” Venice as the various boats and water taxis and gondolas passed by. There is an air conditioner in the room but we did not need it. The bed was adequately firm without being hard. Stefano served us a continental breakfast in our room the following morning. Thi si not an hotel. It is a B&B and it is important to note that. My guess is that we were in a room that was inferior in many ways to the average. It was very large and grand but :- We were at canal level and the noise till midnight and from 0600 quite intrusive to sleep. All other rooms were 2 floors up and close to the tiny reception. The approach to the hotel is initially worrying with the adjacent building draped in scaffolding under renovation, but then it is 100's of years old, and the Hotel itself 15th Century, Once inside all is well. It is not your usual Hotel experience with bars, restaurant and the usual trappings, it more akin being a personal house guest in Venice which […] made it all the more charming. Our room over looked the Grand Canal with a clear view of the Rialto Bridge and i could have spent all day watching life on canal from the balcony. The hotel is perfectly situated for all the main attractions but then Venice is not a large city so nothing is that far away, the sheer number of tourists out on the street are the biggest hurdle to getting around town. Thankfully the room is airconditioned, the temperature and humidity during our stay was very high so getting a good nights sleep was no problem and the only real noise was from the commercial traffic on the Canal in the morning when it came to life around 7am, but the double glazing did a good job of keeping this level down. The Hotel staff were very welcoming and Knowledegable. Breakfast was served in the room which was a nice way to kick the day off. Locatie was erg mooi. Je stapt het hotel uit en je staat midden in Venetië. Alleen het onbijt was zeer en zeer slecht. Per persoon 1 klein crossantje en een klein afbakbroodje. .. wird von dieser Pension recht gut widergespiegelt. Wer den internationalen Einheitsbrei liebt, sollte fern bleiben. Es gibt weder Fernsehen noch Telefon, aber die Zimmer sind geräumig, authentisch eingerichtet, komfortabel und sauber. Das Haus ist wohl viele Hundert Jahre alt, und man spürt die Geschichte. Es gibt einen Kühlschrank und Klimaanlage […] - und Frühstück gibt es aufs Zimmer! Das Leon Bianco ist versteckt, aber sehr zentral, und für uns war es sehr leicht zu finden, da wir uns die Wegbeschreibung (natürlich) vorher aus der Web-Seite vom Leon Bianco ausgedruckt hatten (nach Leonbianco googeln). Die Rezeption (7 Zimmer) ist nur vormittags sowie zur verabredeten Anreisezeit, dann aber bis zur Ankunft, auch spät, besetzt - Stefano schickt eine entsprechende Anfrage per E-Mail. "etablissement moyen emplact exceptionnel"
L'hotel du moins le "locanda" semble t il appelation differente est difficile à trouver peu d'indications, simple sonnette au fond d'une cour. Très bonne accueil par une receptionniste souriante. La chambre spacieuse avec table 4 chaise très bonne literie, salle de bain etroite et renovée, une armoire sans etagere juste penderie, un porte valise un […] mini bar..vide, mur blanc taché de moustiques ecrasés, 2 ampoule du lustre HS, vue donnant sur l'immeuble d'en face et le petit canal... autrement dit sans charme. Le petit dejeuner servi en chambre entre 08h30 et 09h30 des plus simples (un verre de jus d'orange, un pichet de café, un croissant un petit pain confiture bas de gamme coupelle plastique, biscotte beurre. Dommage une brioche ou des fruits ou un yahourt aurait été plus apprecié que les 10 savons et gels douche dans la salle de bain ! voir une bouteille d'eau à l'arrivée. la recouche a été faite les lits refaits les serviettes changées ce qui n'est pas une obligation pour deux nuits ou dumoins sur demande mais le tapis de bain oublié...le marbre glisant à la sortie de la douche bidet et c'est un bleu assuré pour un enfant qui se souviendra longtemps de Venise... nous oublierons au plus vite cet etablissement dont le rapport qualité-prix inadéquate par nuit en b&b pour 4 !!! Un antiguo (como casi todo en Venezia) palacio. Con habitaciones que dan al Canal Grande y a otro más pequeño. A las 22h silencio y tranquilidad. A las 6h, la primera lancha.
