We visited Venice during a very busy period (mid-August) so we asked for a quiet room. The room provided was on the top floor overlooking the canal, quiet as requested. The only con were the stairs but otherwise very nice and cosy with a nice view. The decor complemented the overall atmosphere of classic Venice. Though a small hotel, the room was spacious […] and had all amenities. The staff was very friendly, spoke excellent English and provided helpful suggestions for what to see during our brief stay. "3 Nights in Venice"
Very good location, as it was only a short walk to the train station. The owner was very helpful and pleasant; went the extra mile to make sure you knew where to go and what to see. Rooms were large for Italy, however the breakfast was a bit lacking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Well located close to Venice train station and easy walking distance to Piazza Santa Margherita, good restaurants. and other attractions. Nothing fancy but meets the basics and the staff was friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great staff, Perfect location!"
This hotel is located in the sweet spot where its not to busy at night, yet an easy walk anywhere you need to go. The rooms are typical of Italian hotels and include a light breakfast each morning. The staff is spectacular and go out of their way to accomodate guests and provide great insight into Venice and little known treasures. "Most courteous and helpful host!"
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, in large part due to the evening manager. He helped plan our itinerary for our 2 days of sightseeing and answered all of our questions. He was most kind and spoke in English for us as we do not speak Italian. If I went back to Venice, I would stay here again. No lift, but we were only on the 3rd floor....but […] if you go to Venice, be prepared to do a lot of steps! Very clean, and we walked to several places. The vaporetto (public boat transportation) is easy to get to and use. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Was an 8 minute walk from P. Roma, a busy train and water travel service area. The hotel was in a very quite area. Super location. Only 4 bridges with luggage,, LOL. We were there for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Little Hotel"
The location is perfect, right on a canal, and we were lucky enough to get one of the rooms with a canal view (201). It's well-situated for the station, as well as for many other attractions. Breakfast is served in the room, which was lovely, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. There are a few drawbacks: there was no wifi or shower curtain […] (or hook for the shower above waist height), and the walls of our room needed to be cleaned. Nonetheless, we had a lovely stay here, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Venice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Functional but not more"
Hard to know what to expect for accommodation prices in Venice, but this hotel is probably at the more basic end of the price list. It is functional, reasonably well-positioned - particularly nice being closed to the Piazza Santa Margherita, and also very handy for the bus station. We had a standard double for three nights. All the facilities were there, […] and worked, but the room was a bit drab and not thoroughly cleaned. Staff very helpful, but apart from a reception desk there is no downstairs area - infact it is a collection of rooms, rather than a fully fledged hotel. A poor breakfast is served in the room. I wouldn't recommend against the Alla Corte Rossa but hard to be enthusiastic and promote it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Friendly ,comfortable hotel."
Our first visit to Venice after waiting many years to go . A fabulous city with too much to see in 4 days.I would recommend focussing on a different locality each day and covering it well.It is easy to use the Vaporetta service so make good use of it.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Very nice little hotel"
I stayed there in December 2013. The hotel staff was friendly and gave us tips for our visits. The hotel itself is small, clean and the breakfast included is fine. It would be a great addition if wi-fi was provided. Great location: less than 5 minutes walk to the bus station, and about 20-30 minutes to Piazza San Marco.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to bus station"
5 minutes from bus station. I'd read other reviews that it was hard to find but had no trouble once I'd done a quick google maps check before going. Quite location, but still only a short walk from water bus stop. Comfortable room & unlike other Italian hotels (I've stayed in lots) it had an actual double bed & not just 2 single beds pushed together. […] Aircon & mosquito repellent in the room was a nice touch & bathroom a good size. Considering it was the cheapest option I had looked at I couldn't have been happier and would stay there again. "Süßes, kleines Hotel in toller Lage"
"I left my heart, in Venice Italy"

Our amazing trip to Venice was was perfectly coupled with our stay at Alla Corte Rossa! Venice by day and this hotel by night, your stay in Venice can't go wrong! Our room was on the top floor and was very spacious with beautiful views of a canal, a large bathroom, and amazing wood beamed ceilings! The wifi was easy to connect to and fast; the shower/bathtub was large and had great pressure. The bed was very comfortable! The stairs leading up are somewhat steep when carrying luggage but it's manageable. That's about the only downside to this hotel! It's well situated outside of the most touristy areas so you can feel at ease amongst other Venetians and feel apart of the city. Very close to many restaurants, piazzas, cafes, etc. We will visit again and we will stay in this room again!

On the recommendation of a travel agent friend of ours we decided to stay here during our recent trip to Venice preceding a cruise on the Regal Princess. We were originally planning on staying at the Pensione Academia, where we had stayed a couple of times before. However we decided to save a few Euro's and "rough" it this time. My wife and I are still fit even though we are both in our late 60's so we decided to walk from the S. Lucia Venice train station to the hotel. It wasn't a long walk (15 minutes), directions provided by the hotel were excellent. There are 5 foot bridges to negotiate including the very steep and long bridge from the train station to the Piazzale Roma. We negotiated all the bridges, took our time. However, there are private porters outside the train station that will take your luggage for you. We didn't opt for one (either way) and never found out the cost. We got to the hotel and discovered we had to go down a short alley to the "main" entrance. Upon entering a postage size lobby, we were "greeted" by Davide who checked us in and let us know the house rules. Our room, the wedding suite" was at the top of a flight of stairs. When I asked Davide if he could take our bags to the room he claimed a back problem. Well we had lugged them to the hotel, I guess carrying them up the stairs was not the end of the world - it almost was. This should be a consideration as there is no elevator and the stairs are steep and narrow. If you have a handicap of any kind this might not be the place for you. After figuring out how to open the door (we were trying to manhandle it when it needed a more gentle touch as Davide demonstrated - he was okay to come up the stairs without luggage!!) we entered the "suite" and had to go down three steps into a "living" room. There is one sofa and a chair in this room - it may have been useful as a reading room but the one light in the room didn't work. The bathroom was small but functional including a bidet that went unused, at least as designed. A tub with a hand-held shower and no shower curtain - it worked!! The bedroom was spacious with a fairly comfortable bed that seemed bigger than a double, a couple of night tables, a small TV on a cabinet that held a refrigerator, a wardrobe with small safe and a small breakfast table. The TV played only italian speaking stations. There is no A/C although there appeared to be. The two large windows in our room overlooked the canal and did let fresh air in along with the mosquito's and canal noise during the day. At night it got very quite but we closed the windows to avoid the bites! Every morning Davide brought up our continental breakfast - it filled the pie-hole but nothing to rave about. There was no WIFI - we knew that going in. However you don't know how much you miss something until you don't have it!! So if this is a must for you, this hotel is not for you. GiGi (a man) is the night person (3pm-8pm). He is great. Very friendly and informative. Very chatty - just the opposite of Davide. Oh by the way, you are on your own from 8:00 pm till 8:00 am the next morning as no one is at the desk at night (a little unsettling). They give you a front door key to use to enter on your own "after" hours. Overall this is a stripped down, rustic place to spend a couple of nights between events. It did save us considerable money as compared to our original (familiar) option. So if cost is a major consideration this may be a viable option. The other plus is that the hotel is very conveniently located for access to the Cruise terminal via water taxi or the people mover (we used this option) that runs between Pizzale Roma and the cruise ship terminal. It took up about 15 minutes to walk (with luggage) from the hotel to the people mover (you don't have to go over that big bridge), then another 15 minutes to get our ticket, board the next train then walk from the stop to the cruise ship terminal - very easy! Now you are armed with our experience as well as others who have rated this hotel. The choice is yours.
"Cheap and cheerful"

Accommodation in Venice is quite expensive and this was the best value we could find. It is a basic hotel and we stayed for 2 nights in August. The air con worked which was a relief. Its a good location and no need to take a water taxi... only a short walk away from the buses. The breakfast was nothing exciting (packaged croissants, biscuits and juice/tea or coffee) but we were happy to go out for something to eat. To be honest we only used the hotel to sleep as we were on quite a tight schedule- if you are looking for a glamorous and relaxing hotel keep looking!
"Ridiculous and just plain horrible!"

The bottom line is: never again!! We have been to Venice several times before and this was definitely the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Let me start with the good part: the hotel is in a nice location, close to piazzale Roma and the big sights are in walking distance. However, that is true for many places in Venice. That is pretty much the good part. The bad part starts with the rundown overall appearance of the „hotel“. Now: we had a room on the 3rd floor without elevator. Being rather fit, I don’t care, but the staircase was so narrow that it was quite hard to carry the luggage upstairs. The man at the reception desk did not even offer to help. He wasn’t a big service person anyway. The room was fairly big and overlooked the canal. The bathroom was rundown – the tub was scratched all over and full of black stains on the bottom. But you could not take a bath there anyway as there was no plug for the tub. So we showered in the tub, but as there was no shower curtain, inondating the bathroom was inevitable. Overall, showering was a rather uncomfortable business. In any hotel in the world, you put your towels on the floor if you want them replaced. Well, not here. We put our dirty towels on the floor, only to find them hung up on the rack again, so we supposed to use them again. Excuse me?!?!?!!! It took another day and a firm request from my husband to get us new towels. When we ran out of toilet paper, it was not replaced. The heating did not work, so as the nights got colder in late October, we just froze – also, because the bedding was a mere joke. A bedsheet and a thin bedcover on top o fit that hasn’t been washed for a while. Yuck! We stayed there for 8 nights. The bedsheets were not replaced once. The breakfast is a mere joke. We did not mind to be served in our room, but we definitely did mind to find packaged croissants from the supermarket and a few dry cookies on a tray in the room. Additionally, we would get coffee, milk and juice in the morning along with some buns and spread cheese. All in all, not very appealing. There is no internet access. In the 21st century, that is just ridiculous. But the biggest issue is that the place is infested with mosquitoes. Even if you kept the windows close at night, you got eaten alive!! This is something I have never seen anywhere else in Venice, so it must be a problem of this accomodation. It was terrible!! Neither the old guy nor the young one at the reception said anything or warned us. If we had not had to pay right in the beginning, we would have left after the first night! There are many nice places to stay in Venice. This is not one of them - and totally overpriced for what you get. Never again!!!
"Very quiet but very central"
10/14/14 Daniel T Zurich, Switzerland
This is a very central little hotel with surprisingly big rooms! The hotel is within walking distance from Piazzale Roma (approximately 3-5 minutes), so very close to the main embarking area and Piazza Margarita, which we liked especially. Our room was actually a little apartment, with high walls, a separate entrée, a couch and more than enough space for the two of us. Unfortunately the bathroom was so tiny, it was not possible for two people to brush teeth. Still, everything was very clean and the owner very friendly (although he forgot breakfast once).
"Very happy with our stay"

We stayed in Alla Corte Rossa for 3 nights, happy that we chose it. Price was reasonable, room was a good size. Nice beams in the ceiling. This isn't a chain hotel - I think only 6 rooms, and we were on the top floor which means a bit of hike upstairs - they are steep! But the room was very clean, it's not far from Piazzale Roma so not too far to cart the suitcases. The owner is very friendly and helpful, he arranged some flowers for my wife as we arrived on our anniversary.

We stayed here for three nights and enjoyed our time. The location is great, close to everything you need e.g. supermarket, restaurants etc but the highlight was the elderly gentlemen at the service desk. He was very helpful and nice. There is no wifi here however why would you need it if you're in VENICE. So much to do in this beautiful city!
"A gem in hiding"

Exterior deceiving but the room was very charming, we'll decorated and view on the canal. Very spacious room number 101 with a little salon, the room and a complete bathroom. The owners are more than accommodating with tips and suggestions to facilitate your stay. Location excellent near to all places in Venise. Get a map how to get there before arriving because it could be a little hard to find since the front door is in a alley.

Terrible location. No wifi. Felt unclean. Bad lighting. Unhelpful staff. we asked for another map and the man said we had to pay! Felt unsafe walking back at night as deserted street. Tiny room. Pubic hair was left on toilet. I would not recommend this hotel. Breakfast was not good

We wanted a hotel that was not surrounded by tourists but close enough to see all we wanted to see. This is it. Tucked away into a mini alley, this hotel offered many wonderful things. Breakfast brought to your room. Don't expect an American breakfast--you're not in America. They gave us a menu from which we were allowed to choose numerous items and a morning delivery time the next day. No drama and peaceful breakfast in the room. Score! Also--Paolo was amazingly helpful. He truly enjoyed helping customers--he made our stay. he walked through the map with us to show us how to get around and give us suggestions of activities to do. He was truly a gem and incredibly interesting to just talk to. Our room--BIG! way bigger than most in Italy, and it looked out over the canal. Heads up: the hotel is NOT hard to find if you plan a bit beforehand (we didn't, and it took us extra walking). It's convenient to the train station (like 10 minute walk?). I would not hesitate to call this homebase for our future visits to Venice.
