Avonmore Hotel Cartwright Gardens - London

The hotel is very conveniently located on a quiet, leafy street in walking distance from several subway stops and Kings Cross. The entry is nice, the carpet in the hallway is new, the reception guy is helpful. My single room was clean, but quite literally the size of a walk-in closet -- if I had even a mid-size suitcase with me, it won't fit in the […] room. The bed was 24" wide and creaky and wobbly. No air conditioning, but thankfully, it wasn't needed -- opening the window was enough. (The view from the large window was on the trees in the park and a tennis court.) The ensuite bathroom was clean and functional (with a narrow shower stall), but the smell of chlorine was so strong I had to keep the door open. The advertised wi-fi didn't work for me -- while there was signal in the room, I could not connect with either my mac or my symbian phone (another guest had the same problem, while the reception guy did not have a problem connecting his phone), so count on using your cell phone's data connection. I did not have a chance to try their breakfast. All in all, a slight upgrade from a typical hostel -- sufficient for a one-night crash if you are a student and connecting in London, but do not expect luxuries. Read more

A five minute walk from Euston station/underground. A comfortable and clean room. Bathroom was very small, shower was tiny, but acceptable for a one or two night stay. Not bad hotel... for a one night stay MAXIMUM 2 nights, more than that get a normal hotel. The room (single) was very small. You get however, a nice shower (single as well) and not shared like other hotels. Service on reception is average. The room was tiny with no toilet or sink I had to walk across a shared landing to get to my bathroom. The concierge had no shoes on. The breakfast was tiny, I'm a working man and my breakfast keeps me going for the day. But this wouldn't last an hour. The bedding was clean and the bed comfy. The location was handy.

Charming and helpful staff. The ensuite single was a 3/4 bed with tv, coffee making facilities and the usual toiletries and towel. Basic but clean and sufficient. Excellent staff and a hearty breakfast. Good local facilites, pub, restaurant and morning paper all 200yds.

Vi overnattede 4 nætter på dette hotel i slutningen af marts 2013. Da vi bestilte værelset så det stort og rummeligt ud, men det var meget lille. Vi havde bestilt et værelse med 4 regulære senge, og eget bad og toilet. Vi er en familie på 2 voksne og 2 børn. Sengene kunne lige nøjagtig være i værelset, men der var ikke plads til at vi kunne pakke vores […] kufferter ud. Hotellet er gammelt og slidt, men med sin helt egen charme. Vi havde faktisk nogle gode dage på hotellet. Morgenmaden var også ganske OK, men på ingen måde prangende. Hvis man er til English Breakfast så er det absolut i orden. Hotellet blev valgt udfra beliggenheden, og det holdt i hvert fald stik. Der er mange indkøbsmuligheder indenfor 5 minutters gang og undergrundsstationen Kings Cross/St. Pancrass ligger ca. 10-15 minutters gang derfra. Bra, stadig frukost. Trevlig personal. Aningen varmt i rummet (som jag trots meck med elementen inte lyckades få ner). Väldigt nära till Kings Cross/St Pancras vilket gör det enkelt att ta sig vart man vill. Trevliga lokala krogar. Testa gärna en fik på Café Firebox när tillfälle ges.

If you can accept shared toilet, shower and kitchen it is super. As many before have commented I was a bit concerned about how this would work out. 4 bedrooms sharing 2 bathrooms. But during my last week there were no waiting to access the toilet/shower. It was so quiet that I would have no problem going naked to the toilet (2 meters) to take a leak […] at night (I never did of course). I am a man in his 50's and found this to be as close to renting an apartment as possible. I have had lots of good chats with my neigbours in the livingroom area. This would not have happened in a regular hotel. It is not a party place (if somebody thought so). I could be nice with some cooling facilities, but they have an electric fan which can be used. オリンピック観戦の為に家族で二泊しました。他の口コミにもありましたが、３ベッドのファミリールームはベッドで一杯で狭かったです。部屋は最上階でスーツケースを運ぶのは階段も狭く大変でした。しかし、清潔で朝食も美味しく近くにパブやレストランもあり、St-PancrasやEuston、undergroundのRussell Square駅にも近く、とても便利で満足しています。小さくても冷蔵庫があれば完璧だと思います。

Het Avonmore hotel ligt in een fijne buurt. Rustig, op loopafstand van de metro en voldoende eetgelegenheden rondom. Het personeel is vriendelijk en behulpzaam en het Engelse ontbijt is heerlijk. Groot nadeel van het hotel is dat het alleen geschikt is voor kleine mensen. Deuren zijn te laag, trap te smal, traptreden te kort. Super flink personale, rigtig hjælpsomme! Værelset var lille og med skæve gulve, men der var rent og ryddeligt hver dag. Fint badeværelse som også var rent hele tiden og søde damer i køknet til at lave morgenmaden ;) Ligger tæt på King's Cross undergrundsstation og derfra kører næsten alle undergrundslinierne, så det er super nemt at komme rundt og […] det tager ikke mere end 15 min at komme til fx. Hotellet var egentligt okay, men virkede meget nedslidt og ikke særligt godt indrettet. For at komme til vores værelse skulle man igennem noget, der mest af alt lignede et kosteskab, og det ene vindue var i stykker.
