"A mixed bag of a stay!"

The plus point to this hotel is clearly its outstanding location slap bang on Mariahliferstraße. Our room was overlooking the room but, once the windows were closed, the noise was gone. The room was clean and reasonably sized. Breakfast was also fine but there were a few negatives: - the rooms are very light which meant we all woke up early. - the manager/owner is, shall we say , a litlle eccentric and was not too polite when trying to rectify a booking error made by the hotel. Do not expect too much in the way of professionalism and customer sevice if you cross his path. All other staff were friendly, though.
"Fantastic location, simple and clean facility"
This hotel is is an EXCELLENT location. 5min walk to the historic sites and next to great restaurants and shops. It's even better than being in the historic center because it has hip restaurants and stores around that are not all souvenir shops. The hotel itself is comfortable but very simple. The front desk is a couple floors up which is slightly weird but once you get used to it, it's ok. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Bathrooms were clean but only small basic soaps and packets of shampoo provided but they provided nice fluffy towels. Staff was very friendly and helpful with all needs. This is not a luxury or romantic hotel by any means but if you are looking for an affordable, clean, safe and comfortable place in a fabulous location, this should meet your needs.
"Excellent hotel/pension for site seeing"

We stayed here on recommendation from a friend who lives in Germany. The hotel is in an excellent location for visiting the City centre. We walked in both times, but there is a tube station just outside the hotel. The rooms were clean and well furnished. Breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great location on the main shopping street, metro stops within 50meters, efficient check-in and checkout, discount for secured parking just around the corner! After reading reviews was concerned about staff but they were very helpful! The triple room was comfy with nice shower. The only minus was the fact that our room was right across their kitchen so since 6.30 am we were awakened by the sounds of cooking and stacking plates:) cleaned daily, card keys worked perfectly and I loved the elevator:) basic breakfast, no meats for those who do not ear pork:) all in all a nice stay!

The hotel in the Mariahilfer Street which is very central and easy to reach by subway. It is clean and even though the front door opens out to the street, the rooms are all away from the street and quiet. There is a simple but good and fresh breakfast. The rooms do not have air conditioning, but we were there when it was really hot and each room had a fan to cool things off.

All reviews on this site are very accurate and heed their advice. We stayed 2 nights and the room was hot, bed uncomfortable and the pillows terrible. On the good side it is very central, easy to get around, has a lift and price is reasonable (definitely not a 4 star). HOWEVER, this is the first hotel I have ever stayed at and had a shouting match with the hotel owner. Problems started from when we arrived as the hotel owner was not friendly or very helpful. We had requested a baby cot and was not in the room and the owner had to get it and he was inconvenienced by this. We could not get internet in the room and had to go in the lobby which he was not happy with. Finally when checking out i requested the hotel bill which was as quoted to include parking which he didn't understand as he wanted to charge this separately. We had a misunderstanding but his manners and attitude were not fitting of a hotel manager. Never have I had to have a yelling argument with staff of any establishment.
Is located on the main shopping street - Mariahilfer str. (the hotel is situated on the 3 floor, not the whole building) Big and clean room, big well equiped bathroom (room for 4 people). Very helpful staff. Breakfast a little bit poor - without hot dishes. But it was not a big problem. Parking in the garage (next street) - 18 euro per night. Undeground station near the hotel.
"A nightmare because of the staff"

The only good thing in this pension (incledible far from being an hotel and even more 4 stars one) is the perfect location The Old man at reception treated us like a [--]. Very bad. He tried to make me go because he could rent the room for a more expensive price. He did as if I had cancelled the room and never wanted to listen to me or to the papers I was giving. He made me pay at the arrival and tried to make me pay again when checking out. Never go here if you can find anything else

"NEVER!! It's one of the worst hotels I've ever been to"

When I booked the family room at Hotel Pension Arian in August 2011, I did it based on the reviews on tripadvisor. I made a huge mistake not heeding the comments about the rude staff. The day that we reached, we went up the hotel and found out that they had cancelled our booking without any mail communication from us. When we lugged our luggage upstairs, the grumpy old man at the reception informed us that he had cancelled our booking. When we protested, he started yelling at us and made racist remarks. He told us that he often cancelled bookings for people from India and the Middle East since he felt they have trouble getting visas to visit Vienna! Guess what - he himself is from Iran!! Please don't make the mistake of staying at this dump with despicable staff. I would suggest trying Hotel Kummer across the road where we ultimately stayed. We loved our stay there.
