Not the first time I've stayed here and will certainly be coming back. Rooms are up to date, service is good and that's all one needs. Good value (in Zurich terms) for what you pay.

Breakfast was very nice and they provided sandwiches and fruit you could take for lunch. Coffee and tea in the rooms. Twice daily cleanings and chocolates. Very gracious staff. Excellent location. Free Wifi was very nice.

Another stay in wonderfully-located hotel full of character. Excellent restaurant (other being renovated). I have been to Zurich many times over 30 years, and this will be my first choice if rates reasonable. Central to many types of activity in Zurich, and easy walk from main train station (though streets in this area still confusing for a Chicagoan accustomed to a grid plan!) Terrific breakfast, and renovations reflect modern design trends - a bit too stark for my taste, but nicely done. Variety of restaurants and shops nearby, and staff most helpful.

Checked in at 12.30am; checked out at 7.30am. So just slept, showered and had a light breakfast. Served its purpose so happy enough.

best location, renovated rooms, OK breakfast BUT I would expect an apology after giving me a bill with a 140CHF over charge. not even a word. I left me with an inconvenient filling.

"Some interesting ideas"
04/30/15 Salin M Chester, United Kingdom
A standard business-class hotel in Zurich, this is outwardly indistinguishable from a thousand others. Situated in the main shopping street it has an eager young staff, a slightly jaded older staff, free coffee and tea machines in the bedrooms, but is otherwise unremarkable. TV is the usual fare of about 3 English speaking channels, plus many more if you want to pay. It costs 15CHF from the train station to get here and doesn't run a complimentary bus to the airport. It does, instead, offer a standard taxi fare transfer for 60CHF (about £45). Outlook from the bedrooms is of city streets or a small rear garden, which is a quieter place than the front. The room is air conditioned and the windows also open, as we found to our delight. We couldn’t fathom out how to operate our coffee machine and it transpired the instructions were for the wrong machine... A nice touch, however, was the live orchid in the room. Additionally, the coffee machine is supplied with several types of coffee sachet and more are available free of charge from the staff. Ice was sent up to the room immediately upon request, so the hotel isn’t grasping. Lighting As with many Swiss hotels, the lighting is plentiful and bright but remains a mystery to those not versed in quantum physics. Why hotels have to make their lighting so difficult to fathom is beyond me. A simple series of buttons on a room plan would be easy to create and simple to use. Instead, mysterious clusters of rocker-switchers lurk in dark corners, promising hidden delights, which rarely seem to work as promised, especially when in the dark someone presses the wrong switch which then floods the room with fusion-like brilliance. In much of Europe, however, rooms seem lit by sub-contractors to Hades, so gloomy and dingy they appear. Bathroom Adequate in size and relatively easy to operate but, because the shower is integral to the bath it depends on one being able to make the rather high step over the side of the fairly deep bath. Soap was supplied in fair-sized bars and two dispenser - which worked perfectly - were also supplied. Shelves were plentiful and room to put things down very good. Breakfast Adequate, again; fresh fruit salads, bread rolls - fresh enough - and a selection of cold meats, but setting it apart was the excellent service from a young girl in the restaurant. In fact, it’s often the youngest members of staff who come up trumps. Complaint The quality of a hotel is never divined better than when you have a legitimate complaint. We’d had a long day travelling the day prior, so we went to bed early. At 2145 there was a knock at the door. This increased in loudness and rapidity until eventually they gave up. Moments later, the phone rang, rousing both of us and forcing us to respond. “Had we ordered fruit salad?” came the query. Needless to say, this irritated us both and the following morning we went to see the front desk. Now here it became interesting. The front desk supervisor knew all about the incident immediately and was very apologetic, so it seems they were expecting a complaint. Now, I accept mistakes happen, but this wasn’t in the same league as the wrong instructions for the coffee machine. This was sloppy record-keeping on the part of someone in the room service team, the consequence of which was to break our sleep. I made it clear that profuse apologies were insufficient, and that I believed the hotel had to make a gesture. “Ah, but there’s no manager on duty,” insisted the front desk supervisor, who maintained he was utterly unable to make any financial compensation without a manager. Like used car salesmen, when they spin this line I scent blood. I asked why no manager was considered necessary, and he argued that he’d been there nineteen years and they’d never needed one. I pointed out they they obviously did if they couldn't compensate annoyed guests, but sensing he was on the losing side he pointed out we’d had a ‘good room rate’. This is both a deplorable tactic and unpleasant to boot. As it happened we had no idea about the room rate, since we’d booked through Great Rail Journeys but in any case that should have no bearing whatsoever on the service afforded to the standard guest. Being woken rudely through their error deserves a ‘gesture’, on their part as I pointed out. Reluctantly, he offered to cover one third of the airport taxi fare but this confrontation ought not to have been necessary. A good hotel would have offered something immediately. Useful for a forced stopover but otherwise there are better.

My wife and I have the privilege of visiting Zurich at least once a year and we always stay in the Glockenhof hotel. Apart from the really nice and airy rooms, it is the consistent quality service that lets us keep coming back. It is ideally situated only 75 m from the Bahnhoff Strasse. The garden is our favourite lunch and dinner venue in summer. Congratulations to Mr Suter and his team for another excellent stay.

Stayed here a number of times for business trips. The staff are always very helpful, polite and friendly. Will always greet you with "good morning/afternoon/evening". The rooms are incredibly well equipped. Top spec coffee whenever you want it. Breakfast was amazing. Again, staff couldn't be more helpful.

"Beautifully appointed rooms, good location"

Coming from America, I flinched a little at the Best Western title. But apparently this is one of their Premium hotels, and it shows. We actually had a suite (pre-arranged for us by my client) so it was as big as an apartment. The bathroom was nice, with a big bathtub and glass-enclosed shower. The toilet was a combination toilet/bidet, which was a little puzzling. It was very nice, but the water for the bidet function was very powerful (I won't go into any more detail). Really nice location in many respects- a short walk to the river, one minute walk to good shopping. Wifi access was good, beds were comfortable.

"A pleasant friendly hotel with good food"
03/31/15 TerenceAtkinson
This is my second stay for business. The hotel is central, 10 min walk from the main station. First impressions are that it is a fairly small, neat Zurich hotel. The rooms are compact and perfectly fine. The food is surprisingly good. I don't know why I didn't think it would be, but breakfast is a good selection (and you can also order omelettes / eggs etc) and dinner - either in the main restaurant or the bar/cafe is very good. My lamb rack was perfectly cooked. Positives: Free wifi throughout. Friendly staff (I forgot my toothbrush, easily got one from the main desk). Food - very good Central Negatives Not really many. It's not 'luxury', but a solid and friendly hotel. I don't think their amenities are obvious for travellers - the cafe / bar is hidden round the corner. I think there is gym access down the road, but not obvious. And ordering extras at breakfast again isn't clear, unless you see someone doing it. Overall positive.

This hotel is convenient and the service as been good each time I stay here for Business. It is nice to actually have white bed sheets and towels that are how they should be in all hotels, very clean unlike many hotels I have to stay in. Hygiene is important for me and this hotel gets all ticks as being very good for cleanliness. The only downside is that the breakfast room can get quite crowded during the morning and the buffet is quite basic, no one told me you can order food from the kitchen for breakfast and little information like this is important to know, its amazing how such little things can make a big difference as the culture in this country is not like other countries where you see staff laughing or smiling or going out their way to say hello or have a nice day, now that may sound ridiculous but when you have quite a few staff not every staff member but enough to make this remark, that come across by looking depressed or annoyed if you ask for something, it is not because they are maybe down or sad, but I assume it is more cultural than anything else. Further more out of 61 countries I have visited I perfectly understand why you do not see so many tourists, as this country is by far one of the most expensive I have ever visited. Take plenty of money if going to Switzerland, finally I always have the hotel driver pick me up at the airport and it is nice to know the driver is very professional, on time and efficient. It is a good hotel for a short 1-3 day stay, rooms are small, neat and very clean and internet is good. Would be nice if the free bottle of water on arrival was replenished in the room each day and the tea tray had more than 1 tea bag of 4 different brands offered, little things make a big difference.

Convenient, well-managed hotel in an excellent Renwig central Zurich location. The breakfast was well stocked and the service was of a high standard. Rooms are a tad small but clean and well-organized. Overall, a good solution if one does not want to pay for more luxe accommodations in Zurich.

"Very Good !!!"
03/13/15 manishrai Dubai, United Arab Emirates
The hotel is very well located nearly 1km from Zurich Main Railway station (Zürich Hauptbahnhof) and in the main Central Business District with lot of upmarket shopping retail outlets (like Jelmoli) The rooms were decent, we were travelling with our kids hence fitting their beds in the room was bit of an issue. The staff I must say was excellent and very courteous right from reception to the housekeeping. The hotel has two restaurants . Breakfast was not very lavish but tasteful. Sure shot a thumbsup for the hotel and specially its staff !!

"Hotel close to main shopping and train station"
03/10/15 lindak7160 Columbus, Ohio
The hotel was a nice. The elevators were minuscule according to US standards. The train station is walk able and the main shopping road (Bahnhofstrasse) is only two roads away. A traditional, continental European breakfast was included in the price of the room. The espresso machine in the room is great because I love having a night time coffee. The hotel does not have a fitness center. The front desk staff was always very helpful.
