"Hotel Anaco. Si sconsiglia vivamente la prenotazio"
Hotel a dir poco fatiscente. Ho chiesto a hotel.com di intervenire e di pagarci i danni! Hotel da EVITARE.!! "Hotel Anaco Madrid- Lo sconsiglio assolutamente!!"

"Friendly staff, clean hotel"

Excellent location. Didn't have any problems with staff or cleanliness. Excellent location. Would stay here again. I emailed them before my trip and they confirmed everything I needed to know within minutes.
"A very annoying stay at Hotel Anaco"
03/04/14 iestyn j London, United Kingdom
Despite booking weeks in advance and confirming the booking Hotel Anaco didn’t have enough rooms available when our group arrived on the first night of our 3 night stay. Out of 9 twin rooms booked, 2 rooms weren’t available. This forced 2 people to stay in another hotel (at significant cost) and another 2 (guys) had to share a single bed on the first night. Apologies from the hotel were half hearted with shrugs of disinterest suggesting that this is a regular occurrence. Despite complaints we weren’t offered any compensation for the inconvenience or our additional costs. It’s cheap because the service is rubbish… Don’t be fooled by the slick website, good location and pretty pictures. This is one hotel to be avoided
"Great hotel based on their price and location!!"

You cant ask for more based on their price and location!! Every time I go to madrid, I always stay there!! Is the only hotel that I actually divide into two different rooms with my family because of their cheap price!

Its a shame to have to write this review since the actual hotel is well placed in madrid, central, reasonably clean and offers value for money. Unfortunately the manager has clearly decided he can make extra money by overbooking his hotel, claiming that the room you should have is "broken" (see previous review with similar story) when you turn up after your flight then "kindly" telling you he has organised a nearby hotel until your room is fixed. We were sent to hostal valencia for one night. This isnt the end of the story however. we checked the room price at this hostal for a double room 45 euros. We were told not to pay there and to pay back at the hotel anaco at the end of the stay (we spent two further nights at anaco after our room was miraculously fixed!). i was adamant i would ensure i only paid 45 euros for the first night. when it came to paying the bill my card had already been debited with 67.5 euros for the first night - i only found this out when i questioned the fact i was only being charged for 2 nights on my bill. Asked to speak to manager as clearly this is a scam where anaco touts out customers to other local hotels for higher prices but was unable to. shame about this as fairly pleasant hotel.
"Fantastic location and good value for money"

Location, location, location, which is important on a city tour, and the hotel Anaco is definitely in a fantastic location. Right in the centre, but the side street location means you avoid city night noise. We were lucky and got one of the renovated rooms on the top floor, with new beds, clean bathroom and nice small balcony. The staff was also very nice and helpful.
"Honest price: you get what you pay for"

You get a good bed and a good shower for the few hours you spend on the room during a city trip of 3 days. Free Wifi is a pro, a little bit too warm on the room. Breakfast is very basic. Good price/quality !

The good points: Hotel is in a decent location. My room was pretty clean, although in need of some paint on the walls/plastering on the ceiling. However, friends who stayed in 2 other rooms complained of very moldy bathrooms. The bad points: I've stayed in worse hotels in terms of the rooms before, but I could never consider staying at this place again because of the lies, attitude and ineptitude of the guy that seems to run it. I write a lot of reviews on trip advisor these days and if you read any of them you will see the vast majority are pretty positive about places so I don't think it's a case of me moaning over nothing. The problems started when our group arrived on the Friday evening. "Sorry there is a problem - your rooms are broken". 3 rooms, all "broken"? What are the chances? Well, despite the fact that he had my contact number, email address and I had booked it through Booking.com and he had every opportunity to notify me in advance he decided the best thing to do was not tell us until we got there but he had already taken the money (unauthorised) from my credit card by the time I arrived. He had arranged for us to stay in the Tryp hotel just up the road which he insisted was a "better hotel" (yes, it was) for the first 2 nights and then we were meant to come back to his hotel on Sunday as "the rooms will be fixed by then". So we stay the Friday and Saturday at the Tryp without issue and on the Saturday afternoon I go back to Anaco to enquire firstly whether we can just stay the extra day at the Tryp rather than have all the hassle of packing our stuff, checking out, going back to his hotel just for the final night. "No, you need to stay here" (bear in mind he had already taken money from my card before I arrived). So, I was very clear with him that if we have to go back to Anaco we don't want any disruption with checking in - we want to be straight out of the Tryp and into the Anaco - not hanging about for 2 hours due to the check out time of one and the check in time of the other. "No problem -you can come any time and the 3 rooms will be fixed and ready. 10 or 11am if you like". I told him we would be there at 12 when we check out of the Tryp. The next day we arrive at 12.30, he has a sheepish look on his face and says "the rooms aren't ready. When I refer back to our conversation the previous afternoon he says "well the people haven't checked out yet, not my problem." Hold on, the rooms are meant to be broken. now you admit you are lying about this and just overbooked. Shrugs, gives us one room between 5 of us and says we have to wait for the other 2. No apology for inconvenience, no look of regret that he had been lying about broken rooms which was obvious anyway, just a shrug. By the way, he had been shrugging to most questions/issues I had raised since the first point we arrived on the Friday. The manager was clearly lying about 3 "broken rooms" and had just overbooked. Although this was pretty obvious on the first day we got there. Why not just say "Sorry, I've overbooked" and leave us in the other hotel rather than disrupt our short break with packing/unpacking, checking in/checking out much more than necessary? Other issues for the one night we stayed there were the Wifi password was wrong (the guy insisted it was correct but it only worked for wifi in the reception area). You show him this, as does your friend on his smart phone and just shrugs and insists its correct - despite the "incorrect password" message that you show him when you key it in to use wifi on 1st floor/3rd floor which is the one you need to get a signal in the rooms we had. No remote for the TVs in 2 of the 3 rooms we had and due to style of tv this meant you couldn't watch/use it. Aside from the seating area in the hotel reception, the communal areas (corridors etc) had a kind of "prison" or correctional facility feel to them. You might stay here and encounter no problems, in which case this hotel is probably reasonable value given its location. On the other hand you might experience a whole comedy of errors, lies, "customer can kiss my @rse" attitude and a nonchalant shrug to every question/issue you raise and find your short city break disrupted. If I had a crystal ball there is no way I would have picked this place.
"Great value and excellent location"

We stayed here last week for three days as we'd never been in Madrid and fancied a quick look. The hotel's in a great location, being only 200 metres or so from the Puerta de Sol. The room was pleasantly furnished and had a balcony that was a lovely place to catch some afternoon sunshine. The bathroom was well-equipped and the hotel has a reasonably fast (3.5mb) free wifi. Although there is no car park, the hotel owns three spaces on the street immediately in front of the entrance. We arrived around 3pm, parked right outside the front door, and didn't touch the car again until we left. As with most large cities, the metro is far and away the best way to get around, and the stations at Gran Via and Puerto de Sol were no more than four or five minutes away. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel are numerous restaurants, cafés and bars, as well as lots of late-night grocers/general stores. Madrid is a large city of course, but many of the main tourist attractions are surprisingly close together: the Prado & Thyssen museums were a 15 minute walk from the hotel. The staff were all very pleasant and I would certainly be happy to recommend the Anaco. Indeed, I hope to go there again soon!
"You could do better"

This hotel was not great. Very dirty hotel. We stayed here with our school, and this is basically a place to stay with your school. If you were to stay here with family or solo or whatever, you would be very disappointed. Even we were disappointed. The rooms were disgusting, not very clean, there were stains on the walls, the floors, smells. For example our friends room 45 smelled like cigarettes, and our friends room 53 smelled like rotten fish. There were also no shower curtains in a lot of the rooms. Not enough lights. And the maids barely clean the rooms, they forgot to make our beds one day. The beds weren't even comfy, my friends cot was more comfortable. I also didn't like how when we would leave the hotel we would have to leave our keys at the front desk, and then ask for it when we would get back. Anyone who wasn't even staying at the hotel could just ask for our key and steal all our stuff. The workers wouldn't even be at the front desk sometimes leaving the keys unwatched. It seems like a lot of schools stay at this hotel, like there was a school from another country staying there at the same time as us and they would party all night. I felt so badly for their neighbors. The lobby was a nice hang out though, we would all sit down there and hang out to get wifi. Other than this hotel being gross, it is in a really nice location, I mean the street it is on is a bit sketchy, but its down the street from the grand via and around many other popular areas. So it's in the middle of everything. To be completely honest I'm not a very picky person, I don't complain about stupid stuff, but this hotel is just... poor.

I would recommend Anaco and come back for sure! Unbeatable for the price and location! This is a little decadent hotel for 3*, but I loved the location, the rooms were cozy and with all you need with a nice bathroom and insonorized windows. We did not use any public transport for sightseeing, the location was so great we did all on foot! Recommended!
