The location is perfect, right across the street from the Valporetto (the water bus). Eugenio, the concierge is the best I have experienced in any hotel in any country. He went out of his way to make our stay wonderful. Coffee and tea any time of day, letting me use the hotel computer (several times), arranging a free motorboat ride to the glass works in Murano,marking a map with the number of the valporetto to take (including the times for when we had to leave early to get to the airport, and just being one of the nicest people I have ever met! The room was spacious and immaculate with three windows, one overlooking the Grand Canal. The bathroom was spotless and well lit, even had a towel warmer for the towels, the heating control was well appreciated since it snowed the day we arrived! With the Valporetto station just across the street it is easy to get anywhere in Venice. About 20 minutes from the bus station at Pont Roma on the 5.1 to the hotel. Or take the line 1 and cruise down the Grand Canal on the way to the hotel. I love Lido since one doesn't have to cross bridges or walk a long way to the hotel and there are many restaurant choices within a 2 block area.

This was a decent hotel. The owner and the people that worked there were very nice and accommodating. It is very close to Piazza Roma, so if you are driving that is where you would have to park. You can not drive up to the hotel. It is also very close to lots of good restaurants and stores. You can either walk half hour or take the water bus to S. Marco […] Square. The area is much quieter and less touristy than the S. Marco Square area. The AC never worked properly, so it was always on the warm side. Finally, the first night we stayed in a room on the third floor, which has low sealing and is quite hot. So request a room on the lower floor. Read more

Locanda Gaffaro is a nice small hotel in a "not so close to the center" location but very safe and cute, walking distance to train/ bus station which was VERY convenient considering the suitcases!. Food is WAY cheaper here than near San Marcos. Rooms were clean on the small side, AC and breakfast included. Breakfast was very limited, coffee, juice, […] dry croissants and toast.I would totally stay here again, staff was very friendly and even if we got there before the room was ready we were allowed to leave our stuff inside. Nous avons passé 6 nuits fin juin dans cet hôtel. L'emplacement est très convenable. Situé à 10 minute de marche de la piazzale roma, desservant tout Venise et ses environs. Està muy poco visible la entrada porque es el lateral de un edificio. La recepciòn es sobre la calle rodeando el edificio y en la entrada habìa un cartel mìnimo que decìa albergo. Preguntamos allì porque no encontràbamos la locanda gaffaro y nos hicieron el check in.
