"Hotel Diana: Excellent stay in the town of Pompeii"
This was a very pleasant experience. The Hotel Diana is situated at a stone's throw from the Pompeii train station. The walk to the center of town takes less than five minutes, in about ten minutes you reach the entrance of the excavation area near the Amphi Theatre. The main entrance is then another 800 meters further down the road. A great way to train from Rome or Naples, visit the excavation site and sleep the night. The staff is incredibly friendly and has all the information you need. The free breakfast was very good. For a free breakfast there was ample variety: fruits, bread, croissants, cereal. Coffee and tea in thermos cans, but the waiting staff also makes you cappuccino, espresso or hot chocolate. The rooms are clean and so are the bathrooms. Toilet, bidet, shower and vanity. Rooms are air conditioned, there are extra blankets and pillows in the room.

"reasonable price close to pompeii site"
We arrived by car late at night. The hotel is on an alley off of a road. Google directed us there correctly (not the case for many places in italy and particularly away from Rome). Nice off-street parking with shade trees in a garden right behind the hotel- but in view of the main building. Check in desk was open after midnight and attendant was helpful and informed. Room was clean and ready. We had a family room with bunk beds and a queen/double bed. Very basic but also very clean throughout. Small TV (but we did not care about this). We had a handicap bathroom which was not ideal because of the funny shower, grab bars and curtain but all in working order and very clean. AC/Heater worked well but could have been quieter. Breakfast was very good and included coffee (Capuchino, espresso, etc.). They allowed us to leave the car in the parking lot all day, so we walked to the archaeological site and then picked up the car at the end of the day. It is a short, pleasant walk to the gate near the arena (not the main gate), which is less crowded but also does not have guides, and other amenities found at the main entry. I think in summer this might be a quicker entry point?

"Safe with Parking"
Hotel was perfect for our last night in Italy. We had an early morning flight from Naples, but didn't want to stay in Naples (we had heard horror stories of driving and safety). This hotel met our needs of being close to the A1 (for airport access), having safe/secure parking and being close to the ruins. We were in a room with 1 king and 1 twin bed. This was great as we were able to use the twin bed to pack all of our checked luggage. Hotel had a small bar and a cute courtyard to hang out in. We explored Pompeii after checking in. The hotel gave us directions to the back entrance, but I would suggest asking for directions to the main one (it is a very close/flat walk). Our entrance was out of maps, which made the site visit a little hard. We had dinner are the restaurant next to the hotel and it was wonderful. Good alternative if you have a rental car and an early morning flight, but don't want to stay in Naples.

Nice, clean, modern hotel, very good complimentary breakfast. Excellent front desk staff, fluent in English, readily available and very helpful. Not close to train station or Pompeii ruins, approx. 2 kilometers away. "Close to Train Station"
The hotel was situated in a nice location close to the train 1min walk & citycenter 5min walk. The hotel itself was not great.. rooms seemed very dead no life what so ever! Bed was a mattress and the pole springs that would hold the mattress.. Breakfast was bad.. it looked like a big spread but mainly ham & cheese & yogurt.. At one point while walking through town I saw the hotel Forum which looked very nice & thought why didn't I stay there? Hotel Diana not recommended seemed like a hostel!!

thank you for having shared your experience. we are so sorry that you didn't have a good stay in our Hotel but we would like to underline that for breakfast we serve also croissants, panini, cakes, several kind of jams, coffees and fruit juices. The mattresses are new and usually a bed is made by a mattress and wood poles! at the end you compare a 4 star Hotel, like Forum, with a 3 star Hotel, which is not a Hostel, at all. Anyway, your opinion will be useful for us to better ourselves

"Great Staff....the best thing about the hotel."
The hotel day and evening staff could not be better..they were soooo helpful; good English..which is helpful. The breakfast in the morning was very good. The bed was a bit hard...but it would not stop me from staying there again. The location was great..so close to the ruins. Free parking was also great and close to the front entrance to the hotel..and I felt that the car was safe. I would stay at this hotel again if I visited Pompei again. Nothing at all to complain about at this place! Room was a bit small..but again...would not stop me from staying here. 5 star rating. By the way was there with my partner and felt no homophobia at all.

This is a good choice for Pompei. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a bar in the lobby with a small lounge, with a large, lovely garden area. Though the room I had was quite small, it was clean and had a safe and wifi. Two of the 3 train stations in Pompei are very close to the hotel, so it's good for day trips to Ercolano, Naples etc. There is a lot to see in the area, and this is a great little hotel for a base.

Extremely professional and hard-working staff, solved a couple of issues almost immediately. The garden terrace was a great place to meet other travellers, and the service was excellent. The hotel went out of its way with some other guests to organise virtually their whole itinerary whilst they were in the area. The rooms are a bit small, but absolutely fine, clean and very presentable. Terrific value for money all round. Heartily recommended - everything within an easy walk in Pompei.

I appreciated all the local information provided by the most delightful staff including touring tips and restaurant recommendations. The hotel is 2 minutes from the train station provided you take the correct rail company. Should you take the wrong train it is 5 minutes more of a walk and you can do the 'tour de gelato' on the way.

The staff at Hotel Diana made it way too easy to navigate Italy for our first time visit. They were supremely helpful, always attentive and the sweet private garden in the back was the perfect place to unwind when returning from each days jaunt. Ask for one of the quieter back rooms or plan to sleep with your windows closed. As long as you don't require large rooms, this is the place to go for a central location to a number of historical sites.

While the room was on the small side, the staff was incredible. They helped coordinate transportation from the Rome airport. The guy they found was so good that we asked him to drive us from Positano to Rome later that week. The hotel has an beutiful court yard, perfect for resting or having drinks before dinner. The location is perfect, a short walk to the ruins and to excellent restaurants for dinner or lunch. If you are not doing the tour group thing, this is definitely an excellent alternative.

A decent hotel in a great spot - close to the train station, but we never heard a train. 10 minute's walking distance to the ruins, near a few restaurants & bars. Very noisy rooms. Rooms are small, but big enough to just sleep in. Great breakfast, with a fabulous outdoor area for eating it in, or an evening drink. Staff are excellent, very helpful & friendly and most speak English very well. Free parking off street and a lift are little added bonuses.

"Great Hotel - But a few suggestions..."
Great little hotel close to Pompei Train Station (NOT Pompei Scavi). Staff is friendly and helpful. But, breakfast is very limited if one is gluten-free (just breads with minimal cheese/meat). Some fruit and or yogurt would be nice. And, the internet is sketchy. Could not get a signal in my room on the 2nd floor and had to go to the lobby to get access.

Breakfast is superb value and the unubtrusive service by the staff is great. well done on the orange garden by the way but in someways the old rustic garden and wrought iron table had a nicer appeal. i would always highly recommend this hotel as a great place to get your head down and enjoy Pompeii

"Great stay close to the ruins"
We completely enjoyed our one night at Hotel Diana. We came from the train station and it was incredibly easy to find/walk to. The rooms were very clean - the hotel had a fresh, modern feel to it. The staff at the front desk were wonderful, very helpful and friendly! The only thing we were a little surprised at was the daylight savings time change - no one mentioned it at the hotel and, luckily, we ended up an hour earlier (not later) for our train, but next time maybe they can post a note at the front desk to let people know? Also, they are very thorough giving train directions from Naples to Pompeii, but they call the train that you have to take the" Ferrovie dello Stato FFSS" train in the directions - this train is the same as the TRENITALIA train. When you get to Naples, you won't see FFSS anywhere - look for the Trenitalia office and they can help you get a ticket. Great little hotel! We would definitely stay there again . . . VERY close to the second entrance to Pompeii (not the main one, so you miss some of the crowds).

"Not what we were expecting."
I want to be clear this was not a "bad" stay but it was well below what we had expected. The free WiFi is only available SOMETIMES in the lobby if you move around to find a sweet spot. Typical, "we are getting it fixed" attitude, despite this being an ongoing issue based on reviews I have read. Desk clerk have us inaccurate advice that cost us the opportunity to visit Versuvius in the time we had. We stayed in the Annex which was fine, for cleanliness, room size etc. When you exited the lift you could smell the marijuana from the apartment nearest the door which was off putting. No smell in room. Washing mashing in room was a welcome surprise. Breakfast was good, avoid the coffee.
