Excellent family hotel...the apartments are perfect for family travel. The hotel is a short walk to St Peters Square and public buses. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Gennaro who waited on us every morning at breakfast was fantastic.

My family absolutely loved staying at Aurelia Residence! Julia and Simone were awesome help! They answered any question, helped set up tours, and made us fell at hkme. The rooms are large, it's very clean, and has a wonderful breakfast! The only negative thing I can think of is the rooms are not sound proof at all. You can hear doors open and shut all day and traffic outside, but at night it did not bother me at all, so it wasn't bad enough I would not recommend staying there.

THE GOOD: - The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Very good English. Went out of their way to show us how to get around, where to buy food, where to eat, etc. - Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was good. Plenty of choices. - Location in terms of proximity to the Vatican was great -- about a 5 minute walk. - Apartment was very big and very clean. Stove, fridge, dishwasher. - Grounds are pretty and well-maintained. - Complex felt safe (locked gate + locked outer doors + apartment locks.) THE CAVEATS: - Apartment was clean, but carpets & wallpaper showed its age. - It's about 20 feet from the train tracks. Luckily we read about the train in advance, so we brought earplugs and weren't really bothered by it. - The bells from St. Peters ring early in the morning, and throughout the day. Again, earplugs helped at lot. - The bathroom was brand new, but the shower was very small. I'm 5'8" and 175 lbs, and it was tiny even for me. - The neighborhood is not great. Fine to walk during the day, but kinda sketchy at night. We didn't feel comfortable walking with kids after dark. - There is a laundry in the basement, but it's one tiny washing machine that has a 3-hour cycle, and there's no dryer. Overall, I'd recommend Aurelia Residence. None of the caveats are deal-breakers, just things you should consider before booking. If you know what to expect, it's a great place to stay.

Loved a recent stay at Residence Aurelia. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from St. Peter's in an authentic Italian residential area. It is a short distance from some very good and authentic Italian restaurants, such as Goose for wonderful pizza, calzone and other dishes, or La Caletta for more upscale dining. There is a great coffee bar, bakery, market to buy fruits and vegetables and a restaurant where you can get pizza by the slice. The hotel has a full kitchen, excellent breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff, as well as outdoor space. They were helpful in arranging a car service to and from the airport for about the same price as a taxi. An excellent stay.

Spacious hotel just 10 minutes walk from the Vatican. The staff are extremely helpful, particularly Raffaele, who gave us lots of information both before and after we arrived, and Gennaro who took us to the airport in his taxi. We booked a one bedroom apartment for three of us. There was plenty of room with one double bedroom and two sofa beds in the living room. The hotel is in pretty gardens and breakfast is served on a lovely roof terrace.

Booked in last minute to the Aurelia Residence for 4 nights and had a fantastic stay. Although it's technically a hotel, the "rooms" are all self catered apartments which allow for a degree of independence and comfort that is difficult to find in such a central location. The apartment was really spacious, with a lovely balcony, large sitting room and comfortable bedrooms. Worth noting that because they apartments you get a lot more space than you do in typical Rome hotels. The hotel is a very short walk to the vatican, with a great local restaurant 5 minutes down the road for the evenings. Also right on the 46 and 64 bus routes that take you straight into the heart of the city (good route for the Pantheon, Capitale hill etc) which makes it very convenient for getting around. The staff were really friendly and very helpful, and keen to help you get orientated when you're ready to head out exploring. A great friendly place to stay, particularly if this is your first time in Rome!

"Awesome Home Away from Home When in Rome"
07/03/15 mickncody Atlanta, Georgia
We are a family of 4 with 2 older teens. We stayed 6 nights after an 11 night cruise. So we really appreciated the spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. Lots of room for everyone to relax. We stayed in E15. It is a short 5 minute walk to the Vatican, St. Peters. The staff is awesome. We had no set plans for sight seeing, but Rafeale at the front desk was very helpful, knows Rome in detail. He told us which bus to take to get where we wanted to go. There are 2 main bus routes that can take you from the hotel to the Ancient Historic Center, Buses 46 and 918 take you to and from Piazza Venezia which is right in the heart of plenty of things to do and see. The buses's final stop is Venezia, so you can't miss it. We would get several 100 minute tickets for 1.5 e and ride the bus in, spend the day, then ride the bus back. It worked out well. We never used a taxi to get around Rome. Rafeale will also book your reservations online and print them for you. He recommended we see the Castel Angelo, near the vatican city. i'm so glad he suggested we saw this sight as I wasn't aware of it. He made the reservation and printed our tickets. He also printed our airline boarding passes. Amazing service for no extra fee. The breakfast on the terrace roof top was always excellent with fresh fruit, juices and a excellent assortment of pastries, cheese, yogourt, hard boiled eggs, and breakfast sandwiches. The wonderful man who runs the breakfast is named Genarro. He is so accommodating and thoughtful! He goes above and beyond to make sure the guest are happy. Here is an example, on the day we arrived it was about noon and the hotel breakfast was over. We arrived tired and hungry. We found Genarro cleaning in the kitchen area and he asked us if we wanted a cappuccinos or coffee. I asked for a piece of bread and he brought out a fantastic lunch for all 4 us with sandwiches and fresh fruit. Genarro will also set up day trips around Rome or to areas outside Rome in his mini-van. We did a day trip to Florence and Pisa with another family. It was more affordable than the price of the train ticket to Florence. All of staff are friendly and excel in customer satisfaction. Paula, Ana and Rafeale where always helpful as if you were their family. They made our trip a great success. Rafeale can give you ideas for sight seeing and will give you a realistic idea of how much you can see in your time frame and what is the best way to get there. As I said, we didn't take any tour guides for the city. We did do the Vatican Garden walking tour, which worked out great, because your ticket allows you to also see the Vatican Museum, then the Sistine Chapel and from there you can walk right into St. Peter's Basilica without having to get in the long line. Note, getting the Vatican walking tour reservation was a life saver. The lines outside the Vatican museum and St. Peters was unbelievable. It must have been several hours standing in line in the hot sun. The hotel, for us was in an ideal location and very affordable. Keep in mind that like most ciy hotels it is in a busy section with some street noise. After the first night we didn't think about it any more. I read reviews that the hotel is has a lot of noise from people talking and traffic, but I didn't have that experience. The staff made our trip wonderful and it is a great location. They don't say it on the website, but they do have a laundry washing machine for guest to use. There is a grocery store about a 5 minute walk called Carrefour. We bought meats, cheese, wine, drinks and supplies for our kitchen which came in very handy when we got back tired from walking and sight seeing all day. Sometimes we would buy pizza or bring a light meal up to the rooftop terrace dining patio and enjoy the fresh air and see the lights of St. Peter's dome. Beautiful! We would watch the birds and in the twilight bats would fly nearby chasing their dinner! The Wifi was fast and always on. There was a tv in the living room, but we never used it. Some review say that the showers are small. They are similar to what you find on a cruise ship, but the bathroom sinks and bathrooms themselves are large. We stayed on the 3rd floor, right next to the elevator. It held all four of us with no problem. The elevator was always available. Some hotels you have to wait a long time to get one. We really felt at home and enjoyed our stay there! I miss all my new friends that work so hard at the Aurelia Residence to make their guest happy. Hope we can stay there again.

Excellent location, breakfast was amazing! Staff were incredible. Anna, thanks so much for helping with hospital and doctor phone numbers when my son was sick. You are a very compassionate woman , greatly appreciated when far away from home! Raffael, you were a pleasure and always kind and informative. I would recommend this hotel. We were a family of four with two teenage sons. Lots of room so that we were not stepping on each other.

"So good, I almost hate sharing.."
06/21/15 Lotz2CnDo West Palm Beach, Florida
Our first trip to Rome and we found based on other TripAdvisor reviews. We stayed at the Aurelia Residence during our 3-day visit to Rome in a 2-bedroom flat with Kitchenette, Living Room, Dining Room and Balcony. It was clean, comfortable, close to everything and offered free WiFi. You could see St. Peters Cathedral from the roof, it was that close. We walked into Rome each day. If you want to spend time at St. Peter's and the Vatican, don't stay anywhere else. This is the perfect location. Each morning, we enjoyed a nice Italian breakfast on the roof before heading off to the City for a day of walking. We could easily come back for siesta and head back out at night. Should you choose to use the Metrobus, one of the routes stops about a 5-min walk to the hotel. We arrived early so our room was not yet ready, but Paola was so pleasant and easy to take our luggage so we could go sightseeing until our room was ready. One evening I was having a craving for espresso and Rafael was quick to head up to the Kitchen and make me one. I certainly hope to have a chance to return to Rome and stay here again.

This was a great place to stay. 5 ladies together and the staff was amazing. Felt safe, very clean and close to everything. Vatican city was a short walk and the apartment was beautiful and clean. I want to live there. Gennaro (our every morning breakfast server) became a true friend, always with a smile, such a gentleman. He drove us to a beautiful beach and to and from Sorrento. He made our holiday better by easing the travel to our middle stay in Sorrento and back. Everyone at the front desk did their best to help us and we felt right at home. Gennaro detoured our travel so that we were able to see more than we would have otherwise. I will get back there some day - Thank-you Aurelia residence!

"Third Year in a Row at Aurelia...The "Gem" still Shines!"
06/20/15 Eric R Kingston, Canada
My wife and I spent another delightful ten days in Rome at the Aurelia Residence. This was our third year in a row visiting Rome and we cannot possibly imagine staying anywhere else. From our first year (2013) in Rome we always felt that we were part of the Aurelia family. We arrived at Aurelia having spent four days in England and five in Paris...but we finally felt that we had arrived "home" when we checked in to the front desk (it was great to see Simone again and we got the biggest hug of our lives). This was to repeat itself the next day when we met Paula, Raffaele and Anna...there is really no place like home. As always, we had arranged to be picked up at the airport (Fuimicino) through Aurelia. You can book a pick-up/return to the airport for 97 euro (saves you the hassle of trying to organize a cab). The Aurelia staff are really helpful in this regard. The front desk has extended their hours to meet the needs of their clientele and the staff are always more than happy to assist you in any way imaginable - whether it's a question of finding you way around Rome or helping you to arrange various side trips or tours. The bus/metro system in Rome is quite good. We purchased a week's pass for 24 euro each and that gave us access to all buses in Rome as well as the Metro and the local commuter trains. It's a great value. One suggestion...avoid bus #64: that's the one that travels from the Termini train station and is notorious for pickpockets. They tried to nail me the three summers I was in Rome, but thanks to inside pant pockets/zippers, they all walked away empty handed. Don't hesitate to ask the very helpful and cordial staff for suggestions for places to eat. We found two restaurants within a short walking distance of the Aurelia.."Goose" which is a family owned restaurant literally around the corner that serves great Italian fare at extremely reasonable prices; and "Osteria dei Pontifici, a little further on but again good food at prices that won't kill your budget. As indicated in many other reviews, Aurelia offers a hearty breakfast that will get you off to a great start as you prepare to tour Rome. My wife and I found that the breakfast was more than enough to get us through the morning and a good part of the afternoon. We would stop for an espresso and a "dolci" before making arrangements to have supper in the evening. And what can we say about Gennaro...our ubiquitous morning server who regaled us with more delicious cappuccinos than we can count. Aurelia has not lost its charm for us and is still a "gem" in our eyes. You definitely get great value for your money. We consistently stayed in the "Studio" apartment..more than adequate for us (after all, you don't go to Rome to stay in your room!). Even our stays in England and Paris could not take away from the warm feeling that we experienced when we arrived back at Aurelia. I can guarantee that we will be back in Rome again and will stay at the Aurelia. Grazie mille, Aurelia!!!!

"Great Location, Wonderful Amenities"
06/11/15 wickedwise Atlanta, Georgia
You'll definitely need to take a taxi to the residence apartment hotel. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They were wonderful in helping us plan what we wanted to do. The apartment is a bit outdated but is extremely spacious. The kitchen is big with a 4 person table; the bathroom has an amazing shower. It's similar to a standing Jacuzzi, so it takes a bit of time to figure it out. The location is just outside the Vatican wall and is a short walk away. The only drawback is that it's on a road well travelled. We never heard the traffic noise, but it made it somewhat difficult getting in and out of taxis. Breakfast is provided and served on the terrace of the building. Again the serving staff were extremely friendly and the food choices were better than average.

"Well run and luxurious apartment hotel near St Peters and Vatican"
06/06/15 macbike Melbourne, Australia
The Aurelia Residence apartment hotel, outside the Vatican wall, is a few hundred metres stroll from St. Peter’s. It is not a long walk for a fit person to cross the Tevere to most of the other noted highlights of Rome. Our ground-floor apartment was luxurious, well-equipped and well-serviced, with a sheltered, private terrace. The hotel staff are friendly, approachable and efficient. An extensive selection of breakfast foods is served on a sunny rooftop balcony with a cheerful, bustling attendant and a view of the dome of St Peter’s across roofs. We recommend the hotel, without reservation, if you prefer an apartment. It is not cheap, but you get all that you are paying for. You are a short walk from a bus stop, bank, post office, supermarket and restaurants.

"Aurelia Residence San Pietro Great place to stay"

Stayed for 5 nights and had the very best time. The apartments are beautiful..very large..clean..ours had two big balconies,TV, fully fitted kitchen, air con. They are in a gated complex as some of the accommodation is privately owned. The reception speak excellent english and are happy to help with any questions you may have.. There is a bus stop just down from the apartment gate or a little walk will take you to a collection of bus stops for lots of destinations .Taxis are good value and the Aurelia will order you one (they arrive in mins). Breakfast is served on the rooftop either in the morning sunshine or in the shade. fresh fruits, bread, cereal, coffee, made by the most helpful waiter,( who's name escapes me...so sorry) He is a font of all knowledge and a funny guy. There are some very nice restaurants and cafes just 5 mins walk away, and St Peters Basilica is juts 10/15mins. The Aurelia is on a hill on a very busy road and can be a bit of a slog in the heat on the way back if you are like us in our 60s, but it only a couple of mins from the bottom. We would recommend to anyone looking to stay by the Vatican, you will not be disappointed,

The place is very nice for a family, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The place is very clean. The fascilities provided can be improved though, for example the TV is very small and the safe cannot fit a laptop. It is wonderfull place for garden lovers, it has magnificent view for home gardens all around the appartments. The place is highly recomended and i would definitly come back again.

"The Best"

Friendly staff. Special mention to Guilla & Paula. Best Coffee maker Giovanni (as he claims) but he served us well during breakfast. Walking distance to Vatican and Bus. Rooms are as big as regular apartments. We came via Roma Termini and they gave a good tip on which taxi to get.
