A perfect location for sightseeing in the old town, the Hotel Maxim has friendly staff who speak English and are very helpful. Our room was large enough and clean, with shuttered windows that opened onto a side street. It had a wardrobe as well as a table and chairs. The bed was comfortable with crispy clean linen. The bathroom, however, was below the standards I expected for a hotel in its price range, with old fixtures and a shower that was hard to regulate. There was a hair dryer, and the towels, although thin (my wife called them "tea towels"), were plentiful and changed as needed. We didn't use the tiny TV, but we found the WiFi frustrating because the Internet connection was slow.
"Our Second Time in Firenze and We Chose Hotel Maxim again"

We love this hotel! Situated on Via dei Calzaiuoli just steps away from the Duomo on our first stay at Hotel Maxim we awoke to the sound of the Giotto's bells ringing and found a charming breakfast room decorated with the owner's paintings and lovely old Tuscan pottery decorating the walls. When we returned to Firenze three years later we knew we wanted to go back to this hotel. The breakfast itself was basic but generous with lots of rolls and croissants and cereals and yoghurts and kiwi fruits. The service at reception was always helpful, the rooms clean and spacious. Our only complaint was the noise from the bottle recycling pickup at 7 in the morning at the restaurant on the street below our room. This time we asked for a room on the courtyard and found it much quieter. The hotel has also installed a state of the art coffee machine in the breakfast room and you can have as many cappuccinos and lattes as you like. Book ahead because this is a popular hotel in September.
"Hotel Maxim a Lovely Find in Florence!"

My husband and I and another couple just spent three nights at the Hotel Maxim in Florence. As others have said, the location could not have been more ideal and the staff was very helpful. What sets the Maxim apart from other hotels in this price range is that the rooms are large enough for two people to navigate and there is a lovely parlor with comfortable sofas to sink down into after a day of sightseeing. We often relaxed there with our friends late in the afternoon. We had the rooms just behind the front desk, and there were a number of students on another floor. Perhaps because we had reserved so far ahead and asked for a quiet section of the hotel we were placed where we were. The owners really seem to care about providing a pleasant atmosphere for their guests. In fact, one morning a gentleman came through the parlor and straightened all the pictures so that they were hung very precisely. The continental breakfast was adequate, The only negative was a grumpy kitchen worker who was angry that we asked if she could brew a pot of coffee when the large automatic coffee maker would not work. I would certainly stay at the Maxim again, and feel fortunate to have found it.

This is a charming little hotel located on the fourth floor of an old building right in the middle of one of the main streets in old town Florence. Just like everyone mentioned before, the location is perfect as you can walk everywhere from here. The hotel staff is very nice and helpful. The staff speaks both English and Spanish and are very accommodating, even when most of them are young. They have free Wi-Fi, which is spot on strong and reliable. Our room was a triple and had a double bed and a twin bed, both beds were firm and nice. The room, although small, was very clean and cozy. I read to request a room away from the street and we did but they gave us a room in the middle of the hotel. Big mistake! There's a lot of traffic at night from guests coming in and out and because most people are no considerate, we had a hard time sleeping at night. We stayed there only two nights and I cannot say I slept well there. If you're reserving a room, make sure you ask something all the way to the back of the hotel near the cafeteria. I would think those are a little quieter. Another problem are the towels and the safe. Our safe did not work and the towels seem to be paper towels. I'm not talking about the hand towels but actually the big body towels, they also have a weird smell to it. I would recommend you to bring your own. I hope those little negative details don't deter you from staying in this hotel, it was overall, a good stay.

situated between the Duomo and the Uffizi on Via del Calzaluoli, you could not find a more convenient location in Firenze. The staff is friendly and the free WiFi has a strong signal. A nice breakfast is included. The major sites and excellent dining (and shopping) are all very close. The train station is also within walking distance if you are reasonable with your luggage.

The hotel is in an excellent position, and only10 mins walk from the train station. Breakfast was good, with lovely warm, fresh Croissants every morning.

Actually, I had done the reservation at Maxim Hotel, however I was rellocated to Axial Hotel, which is in the same building but is 3 Stars. Great Hotel, wonderful bedroom and bed, bathroom inside the room. Great Shower! Everything very clean, great breakfast. The location is excellent, in the main shopping street in Firenze, close to all attractions. Highly recomended.
"It's smack in the middle of Firenze"

The hotel needs a little rehauling, but the position and the reasonable price make up for it. The lady at the front desk, Ida, is an absolute darling and very helpful. Had a one night stay and was pleased with it. The position of the hotel is fenomenal. Maria Kilian Gennaro and Diana Burnett

I stayed at this hotel for one evening only and found myself immersed into a fantasy film of the 60's,,, I stayed for one night and had an early start missing breakfast, so cannot comment on that aspect. The room was small and mine facing Via Calzaiuoli was noisy during the night with road sweepers and cars driving through. The room was clean although the toilet was cramped and the 'wet room' shower worked badly flooding the toilet floor. I enjoyed the old feel of the place and the friendly staff, who where very helpful with our parking arrangements. Simple basics, if you want luxury this is NOT the place to book. I loved it for what it tried not to be.
