"Great Location"
Great location near Zaccaria boat stop. If arriving by train, take boat that passes Rialto then San Marco then Zaccaria for a great sightseeing on the way [I forgot whether it was 1 or 2]. Also the Alilaguna boat to airport {1 1/4hr trip 15 Euro per person is across from the hotel. Real easy] Close to San Marco and the walking paths around the main tourist area. No elevator, but the staff immediately brought the bags up. Breakfast was fine and in the attached Restaurant view of the Riva which is the promenade in front of the hotel - good experience.

"Good view, that's about it"
Temperature in the room cannot be regulated other than putting it on of off. We used duct tape on the heat vent, and still sweated at night. So the only option was to turn it off and be cold. ... The sun was coming up into the breakfast room and into the eyes of my wife. Staff refused to drop the curtains to make her comfortable. We got out of the hotel as soon as we could.

"Budget accomodations in a great location"
Great location on the waterfront in San Zaccaria; you don't have to carry your bags up and down any stairs, as the vapporeti stop is only about 50 meters from the hotel entrance. The building is old and the furnishings dated, but the price is about half (or less) of what other nearby hotels charge. The rooms are clean and well kept, but the air conditioning can't contend with the summer heat. Combine this with an abundance of mosquitos and . . . well, expect to be bitten.

This hotel wins on location. Situated close to the San Zaccaria water bus stop, it's easy to access from the airport. We were welcomed warmly by Michele, who speaks excellent English. Our room had been renovated, with traditional styled texted wallpaper, a huge bed, new bedding but too much large and heavy furniture for the size of the room, in particular, a large sort of chest, locked, so not providing any storage. The room isn't actually small, but cluttered with a case stand and a free-standing table in front of the chest. The bathroom is adequate, though hasn't yet been modernised, but it was kept spotlessly clean and supplied with shower gels etc. Breakfast is typical of Italy, better than some: ham, salami, cheese, cereals, rolls, cakes. Coffee is poor and service unfriendly. So, why return? The breakfast room is situated overlooking the Riva degli Schiavoni and therefore the lagoon. It's a very short walk to San Marco. Front rooms (extra cost) have the views, back rooms are quieter. This is essentially a B&B with an entrance hall and restaurant. We aren't in the price bracket for the restaurant, which is one of the more expensive in the area.

"Great location BUT...."
Great location on the Grand Canal, easy access to everything - very close to St. Mark's Square and water taxi's but, a catch 22 because it was a little noisy being so close to merchants and the taxi's? No A/C......and No elevator so, 4 flights of stairs was a bit tiresome.....overall, enjoyed the hotel and would still choose to stay here again if/when we come back to Venice!

The hotel is perfectly siutated, close to the old town, main monuments and vaporettos. Rooms are quite clean and <ell maintained, Breakfast is quite nice in a veranda facing the laguna.Just one point: rooms are on four stages, and there is no lift. So , if you suffer of knees arthrose or articulations sore, it may be a difficulty.

I took my partner for a complete birthday surprise weekend, August 17th, 2012 for 3 nights and we both loved the hotel. I had been so anxious to have a great view from the room (out to the San Marco basin) and I was amazed. Location was sublime. There is a vaporetto stop right outside with great links to Rialto, Murano and bus/train termini. Piazza San Marco, Bridge of Sighs, Palazzo Ducale all a stones throw away. Breakfast each morning was a joy, which we looked forward to! Lovely continental buffet style with a a fantastic view. Wildner superseeded my expectations as I wanted this to be a perfect trip for my partner and she fell in love with Venice and loved where we stayed. We wouldn`t hesitate to stay again!

"Close To Water Bus"
We had a nice 3 day stay here. The location is excellent to get to as it is very close to one of the San Marco water bus stations. This is not to be overlooked because I couldn't imagine trying to find a hotel in the middle of Venice with luggage. The neighborhood itself is too busy for me as you're right smack in the middle of San Marco which is packed with tourists. Not a big deal as we would just walk 15-20min to some of the quieter areas of Venice. The room was comfortably sized and I found the bed to very comfortable when compared to other hotels in Italy. The bathroom wasn't great. I'd consider staying here again if I was in Venice.

"First impressions are important"
The person on reception when we arrived was particularly unhelpful and not in the least welcoming. There was no offer to help us with our bags even though we are in our 60's and were on the 3 rd floor - no lift. There was a terrible fish smell through the hotel but fortunately not in our room. When we arrived back from dinner the reception had changed over and the man was very happy, chatty and helpful and changed the whole atmosphere of our stay. Lovely room, great position.

Pensione Wildner has an extraordinary placement two bridges from the St. Marcus square just besides one of Venices most expensive hotels. P. Wildner manages to keep its more romantic butique style in this very tourist heavy area of the city. Our room was decorated in an old romantic style with textured gold wallpaper, a large closet covered in blue/purple fabric and our bathroom included a bidet. The hotel looks old/used, but everything was working/clean and the staff was friendly. My wife loved falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of the bay and the city sounds.

This is a quaint hotel in a great spot. Right on the grand canal by the ferry terminals and gondolier base. Just down from the bridge of sighs. Its a very old building but is perfectly clean and comfortable with air conditioning and everything you need. Shower pressure is great too which was a nice surprise. Watching the cruise ships sail past is amazing. We were on the 5th floor so be prepared for the stairs every day there is no lift. The wonderful accommodating staff will take your bags up and down. The included buffet breakfast is really good and so is the coffee. It has a lovely feel that makes you feel part of the history. We would recommend this hotel

"Nice Hotel, expensive city!"
07/21/15 John D London, United Kingdom
Our daughter gave us a three day trip to Venice last week, as a thank you for her wedding, so it was a nice surprise for us. Now my wife has always wanted to visit Venice but as a tightwad london cabby, I always managed to put it off as I'd heard it's expensive there. We got the water bus from the airport, €57 return, it can be packed during peak time, but we were lucky, mid after noon & midday return. We berthed or docked ( not sure which) & was grateful , as it was extremely hot & humid To find the Hotel Pensione Wildner was only a stones throw away, unfortunately the room was standard & round the back, so not for the first time out came the plastic, for an upgrade at an extra €70 a night, but was it worth it, the view was brilliant, the significant other, was nearly in tears, the view was so visually stunning!, now if you are at the back ,be sure to be 3rd or 4th floor as you have a pretty view over roof tops any lower, brickwall !! No lift & pushing Wife upstairs was exhausting, air con good, rooms small but antique style decor fitted surroundings, staff are very friendly, & the prices are comparable to the other Hotels on the front. You can eat cheaper but hey-ho it's a one off. I found Venice to be very visually stunning, if very expensive, don't be afraid to ask prices etc in Restaurants. Wife even got me to go on a Gondola, the fella even made me seem happy, moaning about his lot, €80 for about 20-30 minutes! Expensive but silly to go to Venice & not go on Gondola. Final thoughts are Venice is visually stunning but more expensive than other cities I've visited and the Hotel Pensione Wildner was a nice, pleasant Hotel. John Deighton

The quad lagoon view room worked well for our family with teens and view of lagoon was amazing! Location is steps from vaporetto stop and while our room was 5th floor US (no elevator), they brought our luggage up for us. No problem with street noise and the Air Conditioning and Wifi worked well. The room is not large but adequate and certainly clean. Breakfast was good (pastry, cheese, hard boiled egg, salami, fruit salad, yogurt, cereal) and we had a lovely supper (10%discount for hotel guests).

"Best hotel in Venice if you have kids, or just want to be close to everything"
07/15/15 orbital SF
We were traveling to Venice with two 5 year olds. We knew it would be expensive and difficult to get around, especially with luggage and kids. I did a lot of research on various sites and decided on this hotel. We couldn't of been happier with the room, the staff, the location, everything. Venice in the Summer is HOT! Getting off a vaporetto and trying to navigate bridges (steps no ramps!) with luggage alone is a challenge. Add two kids and their luggage and 100 deg of heat, and you quickly realize location is EVERYTHING. Hotel Wildner is steps from all the vaporetto stops for St. Marks Square. Unless you are willing to fork over a few thousand a night for Hotel Daniel, you really can't find any better location. We had a quad, with amazing views over the lagoon. The kids adored just watching boats come/go. The room was perfectly set up and quite roomy. It was SPOTLESS clean and the AC was great. Staff was super helpful, pointing out good places to go, and advice on navigating the vaporettos. St. Marks is just steps away, lots of restaurants around, it was perfect. Breakfast is in their restaurant, a glass surrounded room right on the lagoon. Lovely view and perfectly good breakfast. Being able to quickly retreat to the lovely room and escape the heat was just priceless. We saw people trying to drag luggage down alleys, across bridges, all around a nightmare, and felt so lucky to have such a centralliy located hotel. At night, you can walk 2 bridges away from St. Marks and there is a little cart that sells cold cold beer and soda. We probably had one of the best family evenings of our trip just sitting with our feet in the water, watching the sunset, and having a cold drink. I checked around a lot, Venice is expensive, especially trying to find family rooms. This was one of the most economical options I could find, and what a great treat with the room and location. Next time will be easy, definitely stay here.

"Excellent location with fantastic view!"
07/04/15 Davide G Singapore, null, Singapore
We stayed here with our kids and parents. The location is fantastic! Alighted at San Zaccaria vaporetto station and right in front of us is Hotel Wildner! Just a short walk to San Marco Square, actually less than 5 mins' walk. We got 2 rooms with lagoon view - highly recommended! The price we paid was minimal compared to other hotels on the same stretch - londra palace just next door and danieli a few steps further (we would have paid twice or thrice the amount for exactly the same view). Hotel wildner may lack the amenities of 5 star hotels but that was not a problem for us. There is no hot water flask to make my daily coffee and tea but it was ok for me. If you need bottled water, you can easily get from stores outside the hotel. There is no lift in the hotel but again not a problem as we travelled light and we stayed on the second floor. Contrary to what others said about staying on lower floors with regards to noise from outside, again, we didn't find that a problem. In fact, we didn't hear any noise at all, unless of course, if you open the windows. But you probably won't sleep with the windows open anyway because it's the hot season. We love our air conditioner. Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful, again contrary to some of the negative feedback from some of the reviews. We were given our rooms almost immediately when we arrived and we were much earlier than the 2pm check in time. Water pressure in the shower is surprising very good! We travelled to many places in Italy and I personally find the water pressure in the shower weak but at hotel wildner, it was excellent! Just a side note and reference point for fellow tripadvisor travelers like me who are particular about shower jet pressure. Wifi is free and good, if you need to get connected like most of us. Highly recommend hotel wildner for excellent location and wonderful lagoon view for a very reasonable price!

Hotel (Pensione) Wildner: Excellent location, on the waterfront 200 yards east of St. Marco piazza. Waterbus and private taxi dock just in front, no bridges to cross. Lagoon facing rooms are wonderful, great views of water with bustling boat activity and daily cruise ship arrival and departure. Good size room with king size bed and sofa. Large enough bathroom with tub/shower and plenty of hot water. Room is clean, bed is comfortable. Décor is nice with blue and gold venice colors. Air condition works fine. Hotel does not have a lift. Our room on 1st floor only 12 steps so not bad, 3 floors above may have been challenge. Restaurant a little disappointing. Dinner was mediocre, breakfast had limited choices (no hot items). Michele at front desk was great, helpful with info and friendly. Overall, not a luxury property but nice enough and great location, I give it 4 stars out of 5.

The spectacular view from our front room lingers in our minds long after our departure. The restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience with a menu of finest quality local ingredients. It is magical to enjoy dinner overlooking the lagoon, its lights shimmering around you. The breakfast buffet has something for everyone. Pleasant stay in Venice and in Pensione Wildner. They sure have nicer rooms than owers and next time I know better how to get them. So don't book a room to the backyard (Standard room) or at least from 2nd floor upward to look over the roof tops and not into the dirty and dark backyard. Then it will be perfect!
