"Clean hotel 10 mins from Venice's main bus station"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The rooms were clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The included buffet breakfast consisted of eggs, cold meat, cereal and fresh baked croissants. This hotel is great value! It is a 10 minute walk from the Mestre bus/train station, next door to a supermarket and close to kebab/pizza restaurants and some pubs. It is very easy to get into central Venice. There is a bus right across the street that comes every 10 mins and takes about 12 mins to get to the main bus station in Venice. It costs a little over a euro one way and you can get the ticket at the reception (along with vaporetta tickets). Keep in mind though that st.mark's square is about a 35 min walk from Piazalle Roma ( the bus station). Unless you want to lug your bags through the narrow, busy streets and (many) staircases of Venice and pay a fortune for a dump, I would recommend staying in the Mestre area and this hotel was great value for the money.

Loved this hotel. Best price and great amenities. I am a bit of a hotel snob and this one delivered great
"Venice May 2012"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
We stayed 1 night only and were very happy with the hotel. Dont forget to get you key from Hotel Luca as the Casa Dolce has no reception. The feeling of the hotel is as you were resident of Venice. We highly recommend it.

"San Gallo-Venice"
Wow! Fantastic location right above the theater and in same building as glass blowing factory. Helpful staff and relaxing atmosphere. Yes, there are many stairs to climb but leave them at the bottom and ASK for someone to help you if you can't carry them. The staff is more than happy too help (esp for a few Euro). Also, our room was in a seperate but […] connected building. They lifted and carfully placed our bags out the window to the courtyard of the adjacent building so we didn't need to lug them downstairs then back upstairs. It is all part of the fun of being in Venice!!!! There is no city like it so enjoy the old style and the laid back attitude of the Venicians. (When in Rome, okay?) The breakfast buffet left something to be desired and the 1970's wall blowdryer had a gapping hole which we died laughing at while trying to use it. Also, WIFI only worked in the reception area. Other than that, you CANNOT beat the location. Read more
"Good for the price"
This hotel is a good buy in terms of location. The bad points are that the rooms are quite dark, no free wifi, no phones. Also the rooms and the lobby are in two different buildings and both are onthesecond floor so if you have luggage it is a drag carrying it up the stairs, but again the price is right.
"Just ok.."
Location of the hotel was very good, about 1 minute walk to San Marco square. The hotel offers a computer in the lobby. When we arrived at the hotel at 22:30 o'clock I had to use the computer to get online to submit an essay. It took longer than I had expected and a hotel employee then told us that we could not use the computer anymore because we were […] not welcome n the lobby after elleven o'clock, which we found ridiculous because we were paying for the service. The following morning was another employee working and he was very friendly. The room was very small but fine for just one night. I would not call it a hotel but more bed and breakfast. I would not recommend this bed and breakfast because there are planty of hotels there that I would reather stay in. Read more
"Great Location - Must walk up many stairs"
We had a double and a triple room for our party of five. Triple was huge with a good-size bathroom. Double was TINY with a TINY bathroom. Shower in double room bath leaked all over the floor during every use. The biggest problem is that the water temperature in the shower/bath tub is NOT regulated!! It took FOREVER to get hot water and the water temperature […] was very erractic. Difficult to adjust the temperature. Hotel entrance is on the American second floor with a very long staircase to climb to enter. Location was fabulous, just off San Marco. Staff was most helpful. Read more
"Hotel San Gallo in Venice - ideal location"
Fantastic Location just off St.Marco square. Breakfast was a little limited and we had a few issues getting hot water in the shower but for the price we paid it was great. Location is everything after all and you could not ask for a better one.

"Great price & location!"
My wife & I stayed at the San Gallo Hotel for 3 nights in Dec. and couldn't be happier! It was soooo great! It's in a great location, 3 min walk to Piazza San Marco, St Mark's Basilica, Doge's Palace, etc... close to restaurants, shops, and cafes. Our double room was big, you could hear the lovely church bells Sunday morning. The bathroom was nice size […] not too small like other reviews, it's Venice, things are going to be smaller, but it was fine. Breakfast was very good, lots to choose from and tasty. The staff was great and bilingual if you need any help, just ask, they helped us with our bags and showed us where everything was on the map. We very much love this hotel & it's staff. The hotel is about a 5 min walk from San Marco vaporetto stop which goes to/from the airport, (about an hour with stops) but the boat ride is nice to view Venice & the other islands from the water. Def. will stay here again!!! Read more
Perfect location and staff were all very helpful. We would definately use again.

"Small but Good"
Great location just back from San Marco Square. Tucked up a flight of stairs it is a small hotel but has everything you need including being in a excellent location. Breakfast was on a balcony on the roof. Great coffee. The bathrooms were very small as were some of the rooms.

"great location"
Close to St Marks could hear music from our window. Was great!!
"Great location!"
Great location, lovely staff - would definitely recommend staying here!
"Untransparent additional fees, v. unhappy"
Read the reservation information well because this hotel operates in a very untransparent manner, charging additional and unnecessary fees, if you use your credit card to pay, for example. You pay an exorbitant price for an uncomfortable bed, an unkempt room and the icing on the cake is that they have the audacity to charge a wopping fee for wireless […] internet usage. Seemingly greedy business operation, no charm, no customer service at all. I would not recommend this hotel, mostly on the basis of the greed of these owners which frankly, put a damper on an otherwise beautiful city. Also, the breakfast was disgusting, mostly because pigeons invade the outdoor eating area, climbing all over the plates and tables. Thumbs down to a hotel praying on the unsuspecting tourist. "San Gallo by San Marco"
We stayed one night after competing a cruise out of Venice. Excellent hotel, friendly and helpful staff and complimentary breakfast was nice although some fresh fruit would have been nice. Only minor drawback was the stairs as the hotel is actually on the 2nd floor which makes it a little difficult to carry luggage up and down. The hotel itself is well […] situated just behind San Marco Square. Will definitely stay here again when we return to Venice. Read more
"San Gallo Hotel - wonderfully close to San Marco"
We're in our late 60's and we stayed at this reasonably-priced, interesting little hotel for one night in late April. After wheeling our luggage through the Square (we took the Alilaguna boat from the airport and got off at the San Marco stop) and a few tortuous Venetian alleys, we saw "San Gallo" on a sign above a plain door in a long, old building. […] We rang the bell and were admitted by the desk clerk into a small foyer which fronted a set of marble stairs rising upwards - probably a dozen of them, which is why the San Gallo internet ad says in bold letters that the hotel has no elevator! However, the clerk carried our one huge suitcase up those stairs himself, bless him - and there were a few more stairs to negotiate before we reached our room, one of only around a dozen, I would think. Our smallish room was hung with sumptuous gold curtains, had high ceilings, a big wardrobe, not enough light to read by but lots of Italian charm. No view, but a crisply clean bed and marble bathroom with shower. The substantial Continental breakfast was in the area near the front desk. The guests, singles and families, were from many nations but all seemed to speak some English. The interesting part of the hotel building is that the other side houses a tiny glass-blowing factory and a large gift shop, frequented by tourist groups. It's completely separate from the hotel. And below the hotel is a small theatre, with a gift shop carrying masks and costume items. Outside the hotel you can eat your lunch (order from the nearby cafe) in a small square, away from the hordes of San Marco but close enough to get there in no time, once you know the way. We'd go back to San Gallo in a heartbeat if we went back to Venice. Read more

Buena relacion precio-calidad. "Mysigt hotell nära Markus-platsen"
Mycket trevligt hotell med perfekt läge precis bakom Markus-platsen.Trevlig och hjälpsam personal och god frukost.Rummen är små men mycket mysigt inredda i typisk Venetiansk romantisk stil.Alltså ett topphotell, rekommenderas varmt.
"San Gallo. Superbt läge i Venedig till bra pris"
Enkelt hotell med god service. Delvis under renovering.
Read more

Read more
