The hotel let me check in at 10 am to an available room - this required a 20 euro upgrade to a superior room but was well worth it given how tired I was after an overnight flight. The room was beautiful and just like the photos, and the shower room was divine. The surroundings are dull but I was only there one night so not a big deal for me.

The Arcotel John F is ideally situated for walking tours of many of Berlin's key attractions, and it's only a couple of blocks from public transit stops. The hotel is bright and clean, and the front desk staff were consistently pleasant and helpful. We even awoke on Christmas morning to find a little gift outside our door.

The Arcotel John F is in a great location for sightseeing. You can walk to most of the main attractions from there or get on the hop-on, hop-off bus closeby. The front desk staff was very professional and helpful, whatever our questions. We did not eat in the hotel but the lobby bar was quite busy and we had a nightcap (and one of the best White Russians […] ever thanks to the bartender!) propped on barstools watching soccer being played in the snow - so cozy! Recently spent 4 nights here while exploring Berlin. Great location -- steps away from Museum Island and in walking distance to the Brandenburg Gate. High style and fine furnishings. Three main detractions made this hotel more of a trial than a pleasure. First, the bedding was thick and full of feathers / down. Despite advance notice and multiple requests […] after arrival, received no synthetic alternatives. Second, the hotel was completely mobbed with bus tour people. The lobby was continuously clogged with luggage and tour guides yelling across the room to gather their respective flocks. But by far, hands down, the worst feature was the completely disfunctional internet service. It took 10 minutes to log on and then the server crashed. Since the hotel was chosen in part because of the availbility of internet, this was a serious hardship. Read more

The hotel is located close to museum island (one block) and close to two Christmas markets (one right across the street). The 147 bus goes from the Haupbahnhof to the front of the hotel (and gives you a tour of Berlin in the process). The other reviews were very helpful, the Chips restaurant was great for breakfast, but a little too vegetarian for lunch. […] But it's cheaper and fresher than the hotel breakfast buffet. The elevators are incredibly fast, which makes coming and going a lot more fun. Bring your own shampoo, the hotel lets the liquid soap serve for both bath gel and shampoo. Don't miss the panometer at the Pergamon museum, it is incredible when you see it first before the archaeology finds in the museum. Read more

I could not have been more pleased with our stay. Most of the main sights,the Reichstag,Brandenburg Gate,Berliner Dom, TV Tower were easily reachable via a 15 minute walk. The room was very large & modern & housekeeping did a good job keeping it clean. The front desk staff was very helpful with directions and any other assistance we needed. This hotel was situated in an area of the Mitte district of Berlin with a bunch of goverment related offices nearby. This meant that it was fairly quiet at night yet with some decent dining in the area. It was an easy walk to a few different U-Bahn stops. The air conditioning worked really well which was great given that our first afternoon there it […] was 90 degrees Farenheit with a fair amount of humidity outdoors. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the shower was pretty large for a european hotel. We did choose the slightly larger room instead of the basic room so that may have given us the nicer shower. The rooms were very soundproof, we never heard other guests unless we opened our window to the courtyard. Front desk was helpful and if they weren't all busy with other guests, someone always said "hallo" when we came through the front door. Read more

Terrific hotel at a great price. We stayed 2 nights and were very satisfied with all aspects. Nice bar and friendly staff. a 9 euro taxi from main train station. A 5 minute walk to large square with French cathedral and tour busses. I recommend the "Augustina" restaurant on the other side of square for a good German meal with litre mugs of beer. This is a thoroughly satisfactory hotel, well maintained and well located in the center of old Berlin (even though I found the JFK-themed decor a bit silly). The room rates are reasonable. The breakfast was a bit pricey, but the nearby Operpalais has an excellent breakfast for less money.

This is a business hotel, so it is rather dull. The hotel is located in a good neighborhood, but in a side street surrounded by offices. Definitely not the liveliest location and a bit depressing on Sundays when streets around it are completely empty. I stay in hotels in Berlin frequently and I would not particularly recommend this one. You can find […] better ones for the same price and in the same area. Now, about hidden charges: In particular I was very unhappy to find that the hotel charged me 40 EUROS for the use of the parking. This additional cost was not mentioned anywhere and no one told me that there was an additional charge for using it when I asked about it. I consider this a complete rip off as a parking oposite the hotel charges a fraction of that. When I complained about this the people at the reception listened politely but did not offer any solutions nor even an apology for failing to advise of the additional charge. This, together with the less-than-optiomal location are enough for me to never think of staying there again. Read more

This hotel gets everything right! It's that simple. Spectacular Service. Super Chic Space (but not pretentious). Brilliant touches of whimsy (the lobby soundscape with bird calls is a delight.) While the facilities in the hotel & room are pretty basic, the location excels. The museum island is just a stone throw away (with a flea market on Saturday and the best currywurst under the bridge), lovely cafes/restaurants around the corner, and a morning market right behind the hotel at the entrance to subway. I chose the Arcotel John F Hotel as I had seen some great reviews online, and in general my experience was very good. The bed and the pillows were to die for (you just didn't want to get up in the morning), and most of the staff were very helpful and pleasant - especially David at the bar! However I felt that one male staff member at the reception, […] who checked us in, had a bit of an arrogant attitude. I don't know if it was just us he didn't seem to like, or was it just the way he is generally (neither way is good in that job position). Also, there was a slight mishap with the housekeeping one day. On our arrival back in the evening, we found a damp cloth on top of the bathroom worktop, which obviously had been used by a cleaner, but they'd just left it lying on top of my make-up case. In addition, the housekeeping had forgotten to leave us toilet rolls despite our written request. Everyone needs them.! The location was relatively ok, only about 10-15 min walk to Alexanderplatz, although I would have hoped to be closer to the lively bar areas. However, it was very well located in relation to Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie and Potsdamer Platz. In all, a nice and comfy hotel for anyone looking for a bit of luxury in Berlin. Read more

The staff were really helpful and friendly, and seemed to genuinely want you to have the best experience there. The room was lovely and clean and the hotel was in a good location and near the underground too. The gym was just four machines at the top of the building, but it was nice to have the sauna and steam room to myself!

Brilliant location for exploring Berlin on foot or bike. The hotel itself is super clean and stylish, with lovely bilingual staff. We flew into Schönefeld airport late on the Friday and it was only 30 Euro cab fare to the hotel. There's a great cafe behind the hotel as well, Chipps - highly recommend! Brilliant breakfast.

A lovely hotel in a superb location. Clean and quiet. The double beds are in the most part two single mattresses pushed together which is not comfortable, however we were able to moved by a very kind desk manager. There is wifi throughout the hotel (up to around 500Mb a day) which is of reasonable speed but weak in corner rooms.
