I had to make a very short trip (2 days) to Marseilles from San Francisco and needed a place to assure me of good sleep, access to WiFi, and a good breakfast. The Palm Beach which is right on the water provided all of these plus a very relaxing resort-like atmosphere. The hotels only drawback is its location - well outside the city center. I am sure this is not a problem for the bulk of its European clientele but it is a drawback for those of us who love to walk and explore the city.

The Hotel Belle Vue has a perfect location right on the old port. Each room as at least a small view of the port and Notre Dame de la Guarde. Easy access to sights and trains. The room was no larger than a postage stamp but it was wonderfully adventurous and quaint. Great for a getaway. Courteous and friendly staff. Lots of nearby restaurants.

Spent a little extra money on this hotel but was glad I did. Staff were awesome, especially the guy with the girlfriend in Paris. Thanks for all your help! Only problem we had was a stuck valve on shower, but we didn't even complain about it because we were having such a good time.

The hotel is located 10-15 min East of Aix en Provence, in a very quiet area. For those who want to relax away from the busy city, this hotel is perfect.... We chose it for a 2 day discovery trip in Provence, and enjoyed the convenient location 10 min drive from the highway. We loved the clean and modern facilities including free wifi, flat screen TV, and great lighting. We had a room on the ground level with French door leading to private little patio (see hotel picture), which was very enjoyable. The bathroom was modern and clean, with pretty big shower (at floor level with large shower head) but no bath tube. The hotel offers bar and restaurant in the front patio that is very relaxing, surrounded by beautiful grounds and fountains. Food was great and service exceptionally good for France. The outside swimming pool was opened 24/7. We had to pay a couple extra bucks a day (not included in the hotels.com price) for city night-stay (séjour) tax. Easy to find: enter "Galinière" in your GPS as street address in Chateauneuf. The arrival was a little confusing because only "Mercure restaurant" is indicated on signs (hotel and restaurant are in same location). Overall: great experience! by a Hotels.com guest on 08/30/10

Located a good 15 minutes outside of the main city of Aix En Provence - easy to travel from hotel to Aix, but very confusing to travel from Aix to hotel. Nice staff, comfortable bed, but no door to bathroom! There's only just so much you want to share with your […] spouse... Could use more hangers in closets - only 4 hangers/person. This hotel is about 15 mins by car outside Aix au Provence. We had a room with a small garden. The room was small but functional. The bathroom with its 'rain' shower was nice. The decor was very simple (plain white walls etc) as was the furniture. The closet and drawers just about held our clothing for the three nights stay. It is easy to get into and […] out of Aix from this hotel and there is great hiking nearby. Unfortunately the main pool was green with dirt when we were there so could not swim. The hotel breakfast room is charming and the breakfast selection good. They also have a terrace restaurant where food was only OK. The road which runs at the back of the hotel can be noisy so try and get a room away from the road. Read more

Room was spacious and comfortable, cold at arrival (who wants 17 degrees in the room when it is 2 degrees outside?). Service was reasonable but still a bit to go, bar closes 11:30 and no minibar, the receptionist can´t serve. Probably not an issue for most travelers :)

L'hôtel est très mal insonorisé et ce d'autant plus qu'il est le long de la nationale 7 très très passante. La piscine de l'hôtel est dans un état lamentable et l'eau était trouble le jour de notre venue. Le prix du petit déjeuner (par ailleurs minable) est astronomique (15 euros par personne).

Pas grand chose a reprocher sur ce Mercure de 3*, seul bémol au niveau de la situation car une nationale très fréquenté, attention nous entendons cette route dans les parties extérieures de l'établissement (piscine et terrasse), les chambres sont d'un calme olympien!!!!! nous avons bien pu nous reposer.
