We didn't know when we booked our trip on short notice but the Decameron was opening only 3 days before our arrival. The hurricane damage to the surrounding area was very evident with more than 50% of the beach front properties not open - a couple completely gone. The overall condition of the resort was very good. The spa and gym, which is the closest […] building to the ocean, was open but they were only doing massages out on the beach in specially built palapas. The buffet dining room was small and had fewer food choices than most all-inclusives we've been to but, the quality was good. The A La Carte evening dining room had a small and was good, not great. The afternoon snack bar was very good. Again a small menu but done well with a very good mix of foods. The rooms were your typical AI reort rooms. The bathroom area was done well and very clean. The bed was firm, a little too much for me but not as bed as some Mexican beds I've been on. In room television worked well and seemed to have a good lineup - didn't watch that much. Negatives: 1) fee to use the safe, about $25 for the week, 2) Wifi was $10 per day. There are 3 total pools on the property with swim up bars on all of them and staffed every day. The activities staff were great - had the opportunity to socialize with Uziel, Sinder and Lilliana - they were great! If your worried about the hurricane, don't be. "Great hotel with great staff"
The staff is so attentive. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with cool towels and a drink and the service was that way the entire time. There was a hurricane the last two days of our stay, but the staff still provided activities and options despite the weather. They also have great memories and will remember things such as the drinks you like. […] The food was good and there were a lot of options ( I just don't recommend the pizza). The only downside is that you can't take the food back to your room. Drinks can be taken anywhere though. The room was clean and had a great air conditioner, but the beds could be a little softer. The private beach was nice and since it was the "off season" we were always able to get a cabana in the front. There are guys constantly selling things on the public beach and will camp out right where the public and private beaches meet, but were good about leaving you alone after you said no. The pools have swim up bars and the bartenders were pretty knowledgeable about whatever drink you ordered. They only carry 2 beers, but have every liquor you could want. Our last day, we had about 4 hours between checkout and needing to go to the airport, but we were able to stay at the resort and eat and drink as if we were still paying for a room. Had there not been a hurricane, we could have used the other amenities as well and even showered if we wanted to. We had a wonderful experience and have already talked about heading back next year! The rooms have a bed and couch inside which I felt made it comfortable but still had a lot of room. The bed was extra firm and it became hard to sleep on after a few nights. The mini-fridge is stocked with bottled water, soda, and beer which is a great perk. The hotel used to be part of the Temptations hotel chain, and it has a bit of swankiness to it. You get what you pay for. This place could be something so Great with just a few changes. Here are all the good things. The hotel is beautiful. Small intimate and beautiful views of the beach. They are located right across a big store called the MEGA which is basically like a walmart so if you need something you will find it there. There's also a starbucks […] Mcdonalds and subway etc. There is also a bus in front of the store that takes you all threw cabo even down the Marina for only 3 dollars. A cab will cost you 40 bucks one way. Save yourself the money. Now the down fall. The food is completely gross. I mean for lunch my favorite thing was a flour tortilla with very little cheese in it. (quesadilla) I'm usually not hard to please for food but there food was just plain bad. Now they do have a restaurant called the LUNA for dinner only that you have to make reservations for. The food there was yummy and we got to see the sunset. Probably my favorite thing of the hotel. The drinks are beyond watered down and they only serve tecate light as far as for beer. The staff for the most part is completely miserable and rude. There is a few nice ones here and there but everyone pretty much looks miserable.
