Great location, nice rooms and added bonus of free on-street parking for the weekend. And, of course, warm chocolate chip cookies are always nice and a big hit with the kids! Super easy to get around the city with a subway sation on 28th and 7th and in easy walking distance from so many great areas. Plenty of good restaurants in walking distance. Only […] issue were the elevators and the concierge. Only two elevators for lots of floors and they were very slow - you could wait 10 minutes for an elevator! Then one of the elevators broke on Sunday morning so we all had to take the stairs with luggage from 20 floors up! The concierge did not know the area and was searching Yelp to find a bagel place - turned out the Bagel Maven was right around the corner on 30th and 7th. Read more

It was an excellent location for us, as we came from Penn Station, which was only a 5 minute walk if that. We came for a concert at Madison Square Garden which is located right next to Penn Station (I chose this hotel for its proximity to MSG). The surrounding area has a good amount of bars & restaurants, all within walking distance. The hotel was undergoing […] renovation when we stayed, so the hallways didn't look so great. We arrived a bit before check in and manager found us an upgraded room open (Thank you!). Location convenient to Madison Square Garden. Validated parking deal for $22 is awesome. Absolutely wonderful hotel, just like the Hilton hotels I'm use to staying in. Check in staff were warm, welcoming & friendly at all times. Cookies were great, room was small, but that's expected in NY city, very clean and modern. Bed was very comfortable, loved the bar & bar staff very friendly. Would definitely stay here again in the near future.

The hotel room was larger than average for a NY room. Having said that, there should be some notice if a hotel is under construction. Although there was no noise, the rooms were marked with pieces of white paper on the door with the room numbers; the hall way was under construction, ie being repainted and it looked somewhat like a construction zone. […] Since there were several hotels in the same area within $10 of the price point, I would have liked knowing IN ADVANCE that certain hotel floors were works in progress. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and well cared for. About the only downside to the stay was that we had to wait a while for the elevators during peak times.

The floor we stayed on was half-painted and smelled like paint fumes. They forgot to put a blanket/comforter on our bed- only a sheet. The front lobby was tiny and very shabby. There was a line at check-in. Convenient location.

The hotel is nestled in the neighborhood and very convenient to the bus stop or train. It is also close to the subway and walking distance to Union Square and Soho, if you like walking. The nonrefundable rate made it affordable for us.Maria

This location was great for my teen son's first time to NYC. We were able to get Taxis to/from Grand Central, Times Square, and the 9/11 Memorial for about $10 each ride from the hotel. It's very near Fashion Ave and FIT, and not far from Times Square. The hotel staff was wonderful! They gave us great recommendations for area restaurants, and even suggested […] places where I could take my sons to watch the Superbowl; when we decided to stay at the hotel, they sent us take out menus so we could order in. My only complaint was that one day when we returned to the room there was a do not disturb tag on the door (which we did not place there), and the room had not been cleaned. It was too late for housekeeping, but they did send fresh towels, and apologized. The morning we checked out, the staff person at the desk saw the note about the missed cleaning and gave us complimentary passes for the breakfast buffet (which was really good). The day after we left, my son realized that he may have left his phone in the room. I called the hotel and they had the phone and offered to send it to us right away (at my cost of course). All in all it was a great stay. Only other concern was that there were only two small elevators, and they were slow, which made getting to and from the 19th floor frustrating at times. Read more

Room was clean, comfortable, and quiet...until morning when three housekeepers decided to have a conversation outside our room. Desk staff were friendly, but others didn't go out of their way to help. I was surprised when the guy at the door looked at the few bags I had on a luggage cart and said something like, "I was gonna ask if you needed help but […] it looks like you got it" and let me pass. The staff at the much more expensive hotel we stayed in off Times Square wouldn't let me carry a single bag but here, I struggled with the cart in the ridiculously small elevator and narrow hallways, then had to wait 15 minutes for an elevator empty enough to return the cart to the lobby. Despite these inconveniences, I would stay here again...but I would know not to expect 5 star service! Read more

My room, bathroom, and beautiful linens were immaculate, as were the lobby, hallways, and elevator. The room and bathroom weren't large, typical NYC hotel, but were perfectly designed and organized so they were very comfortable. I like a really cold room to sleep and this is increasingly difficult to find in a hotel. Most limit thermostats to no lower than 65 and most hotel windows don't open. The thermostats went to 60 in this hotel. I slept so much better. The rooms are small, but I expect that in a NYC hotel. I have stayed at the Chelsea Doubletree many times in the past and once again, a great experience. The staff are friendly & helpful. The room is small, but the beds and bedding very cozy & comfortable. As a coffee drinker, I especially appreciate the there is a coffee maker in the room and quality coffee for it. I'd highly recommend this hotel!
