"Good location for a weekend stay"
Close to food and entertainment. Breakfast is ok, nothing out of this world. Staff are helpful and nice. Parking is a block down the street in a public lot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was very happy with the location of the hotel it was just walking distance to all the bars and restaurants. The staff were very friendly at reception they were the only staff we saw. However I found the atmosphere very cold, there was no activity in the hotel. The bar and restaurant were closed when we arrived on sunday afternoon, we had to go out […] to have food. We would have spent more money in the hotel if the facilities were there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A hidden gem!"
Tucked away in a quiet corner off the ever bustling Eyre Square it would be easy to miss this great place! We returned for a second stay and loved it as much as the first time - and spookily were allocated the same lovely big room! Handy for everything but really peaceful, we will return again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Within walking distance of almost all attractions and convenient to bus station. Dated, but comfortable. Only problem was that the room looked over the Bus Eirann depot with constant noise from arrivals/departures until about 9.30pm. Apparently this is temporary, until renovations to the actual bus station are completed, so shouldn't be an ongoing issue. […] Apart from that, the hotel is good value and would stay again. "Not sure why they charge so much..."
The location is fine. Close walking distance to downtown. The area really is more suited to backpackers - lots of hostels near by. The room was another matter: Horrible disrepair. Carpet was worn, drapes and sheers were worn and stained, wallpaper peeling... I could go on. The bathroom was clean (comparatively speaking) but still had lots of issues: […] rusty curtain holder, torn shower curtain, broken TP roll holder, cracked faucets. Compared to the price we paid in other locations, this hotel was the most expensive and in the worst shape. I really have no idea how they can justify the price that they charged. "Right near Eyre Square"
Clean and comfortable enough, great location to base your stay in Galway City. The staff are very friendly and accommodating - especially when we came home at midnight in search of a glass of wine - they were more then happy to serve us at the lounge that was still open.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was ready for us when we got in at 10 am, which was amazing! The hotel staff were very nice and helpful. The bathroom wasn't the best. The location is nice, right by lots of great bars. The city itself was lacking in things to do but has some great restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay"
I know it was February, so I understand things are quite, but not been able to eat at the hotel after breakfast was the only thing I can say was something I wasn't expecting, but there are some very nice places to eat very close to the hotel. This hotel, located in a back street off Eyre Square, shows signs of wear-and-tear and needs a thorough refurbishment.Genuine Expedia guest review
Don't be deceived by the old-looking sign if you walk from the train station -- inside, this is a lovely hotel, clean, well-maintained, and up to date. This was the most spacious and comfortable room during our recent trip. Its location is close to everything we wanted to see and do, and only a few minutes' walk from the train station. Only two negatives: […] the free wi-fi can only be accessed from the ground floor, not from your room -- there's a nice lounge off the lobby where you can sit with your computer, but you probably wouldn't want to work there. Second, though the hotels.com listing says they have a guest laundry, they really don't have a laundry room in the hotel -- they send out to a local laundry service, and you need to allow 24 hours for that. Aside from that, a terrific hotel, and we'd stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel for visiting Galway"
Hotel is ideally located for anyone visiting Galway or surrounding areas. Unfortunately if has no parking facilities but parking is available near by. Frendly staff and nice compact hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Cold and Unfriendly"
The Victoria is well located being just off Eyre square, however I would not be in a hurry to stay there again. The staff at reception whilst not unpleasant were not overly friendly or inviting. Our room was adequate but was extremely cool, bordering on cold. Decor is sparse and certainly not luxurious. Breakfast was by far the highlight of our brief […] stay, the young lady who served us was extremely pleasant and the hotel wouold be better served by moving her to the reception. We stayed in Galway for 5 nights and I was glad I had only booked one night at the Victoria. Probably won't be back Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Quite decent, no complaints, and considerably quieter than the much swankier hotel around the corner where I was staying for the earlier part of my visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Eyre Square"
Old hotel in good location. Dated but large room. Beds were decent but not great and same with pillows. Friendly staff and helpful. Dining room only open for breakfast but dinner available in bar during week and for all meals on weekend. No WIFI in rooms, only in lobby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to Eyre Square... in fact..."
It's close to all of Galway by foot! Very convenient, the only quibble we had was lack of wireless internet in the room. Other than that, it was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Lovely hotel, helpful staff and wifi in lobby is handy. Generous sized rooms and good facilities. Hotel doesnt have its own parking area but multi storey parking garage is under 10 min walk down the road (bit of a nuisance when its raining and you have a large luggage bag). Gorgeous town, will definitely stay here if in Galway again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location was great"
We arrived via bus, so the location for us was awesome, just around the corner from the bus station. The front desk, was very helpful and very polite. We got there early to check in and it was just 10 min wait to get into our room. The room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable!! The young fellow working in the pub was very pleasant. the parking is a pay and display that you have to top up when your time runs out so not the best. room was very small. cold aswell until we fixed the heater ourselves. no fan in the bathroom so when you have a shower the whole walls, mirrors and floors are all wet and slippy. so have towels on the floor. sleep was one of the worst iv had-light coming […] in from the curtains where one side didnt cover the whole window. the cleaner was hoovering at 9 right outside our door. could hear people next to us-talking, the television, etc. not great channels on it but better than most. disappointed no breakfast and the lift wasnt working which is disgraceful( what about the people in wheelchairs, with prams???) told them it was broken and she said i know printing signs now.. okay then. we had a better first experience there Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The only problem encountered was trying to find the hotel and the fact that there was no parking. "Victoria Hotel, Galway City, Ireland"
Convenient, friend and welcoming hotel. it is within a 2 minute walk of Eyre Square, 5 minutes to train station, very convenient. While we enjoyed our stay, the hotel is clean but needs some TLC. There were high winds during our stay which caused the winds to whistle because the seals had gaps in them. This also lead to some condensation on the inside […] of them. Otherwise a good spot to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent staff and great location"
The staff were helpful, they even put a bottle of champagne on ice for me while I was gone when I asked them to so I could surprise my girlfriend. The bed wasn't that comfortable, but after a night of drinking in Galway it was IDEAL. I would agree that the lighting was dim in the rooms, but it was bright enough to be able to see, and didn't blind you […] if you had to turn it on in the middle of the night. The breakfast was excellent too, and the restaurant staff was more than willing to get whatever you need to satisfy dietary restrictions. "The Victoria Hotel Eyre Square in Galway"
Great location for anyone traveling by bus or train to enjoy Galways city centre. We got a good rate from an independant web site that included B& B. Room facilities were modest with room for improvement, but as we only had one night away it was sufficient. The breackfeast we give 10 out of 10. We stayed in higher rated hotels over the years that offered […] unacceplable efforts when it came to their breakfasts. We did not come into contact with any members of staff other than at reception but all of those were very friendly and helpfull. I will return again if i need a bed for the night but if its for a luxiourious break away then i will book bed only elsewhere and mabe call in there for breakfast Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Basic but comfortable, clean, and convenient"
The location was perfect: right around the corner from the bus/train station. Perfect if you are seeing the country by bus. The shuttle bus to Aran ferries was just outside the hotel door as well. The shopping/dining was just around the corner. At the same time the street was quiet at night. The hotel room was pretty basic: a bed, a desk, a closet, […] and a bathroom. The only perk was the kettle and teacups in the room (very convenient!). The room locked with an old-fashioned key (which I thought was quaint) but everything was clean. "The Victoria Hotel - near the train station!"
The location of the Victoria Hotel is just round the corner from the train & bus stations, which is brilliant, as one can wheel a suitcase quickly there. It is also right in the middle of the lovely, friendly city of Galway. Although the bathroom was excellent in many ways, a full length bath would have been nice. Another minor fault in the bedroom […] was the lack of either herbal or decaffeinated tea or coffee for a late-night cuppa. A mini bar would also be a very welcome addition to rooms. Also the lovely bedroom was rather dimly lit, once the curtains were drawn. The receptionist & duty manager were very friendly & helpful. However it would be good if international & national postage stamps could be sold at reception, as I could not send postcards during my weekend, as the post office dispensing machine's coin box was full. Despite these minor shortcomings, I was very happy with the hotel, particularly as regards location & comfort. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"First time in Galway"
This hotel was very reasonably priced and the room was better than I had anticipated. The bathroom was very modern and the bed was really comfortable!!! The location is excellent! There is a car park facility just down the street called hynes yard! €8 per day is extremely good!! You are quite close to the docks and can see the ships & boats from the […] rooms. 3/4 min walking distance to Eyre square park and then about 8 mins to the start of the shopping district. Shops are lovely... Bars are friendly and the people of Galway are lovely! Good breakfast at FAT FREDDYS Good dinner at THE SKEFF Good place to start off your wild night out BUSKER BROWNES I will be back to Galway!!! Also would highly recommend a trip to Ballina, Clare after your stay in Galway. On a sunny the the drive is AMAZING! make sure to stop at viewing points of the lakes and of course Lough Derg. "Victoria Hotel, Queen's St, Galway - recommended!"
The Victoria Hotel, situated at the end of Queen St, Galway city, is a nice, old-fashioned hotel with a nice bar. The rooms are very clean and the bed comfortable. The walls are quite flimsy, so sometimes you can hear what other guests are doing in their own rooms, which can be interesting at times! Especially during the night!!! The keys to the bedroom […] doors could be modernised with swipe card keys. But, other than that, would I recommend this hotel? Yes, definitely. The location is excellent, close to Eyre Sq, a short walk to Spanish Arch, Galway bay, the piers, and 10-15 min walk to Galway cathedral and NUIG college. Plenty of shops, shopping centres, taxi ranks, etc in the vicinity. And the rate was reasonable considering the good location. Yes, I would definitely visit Victoria Hotel again when visiting Galway city. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
