This hotel was amazing for the price. The room was always clean with fresh sheets and towels. For being one of the most inexpensive hotels in NYC, we were afraid it would be awful, but the marble floors and beautiful wallpaper made us feel like we were actually in a luxury hotel. The only thing that I would warn hotelgoers about is that the walls are VERY thin. We didn't notice this ourselves the first two nights there, until on the third night we could hear the people across the hall having sex. If you don't mind other people hearing you, this is a perfect hotel, but if you're the sort to get embarrassed about things like that, it's not for you.

The picture does no justice to what you get here! The location was very difficult to find, the receptionist did not even know how to get us to this location. There is nothing around the area to do or look at for that matter! No view of anything at all! The bed: This bed was hard as a rock! If you dont believe me, visit this "nightmare on 9th street!" The towels look as if they are old as New York City! Parking: absolutely no room for parking! The garage only holds 5 - 6 cars, so if you are not in before the other guests, you have to park on the lonely street, that is if parking is allowed....horrible! The only enticing thing about this hotel was the pictures! They are beautiful and you get what you see, but it is only that, pretty! This room is not worth the money, I shared this thought with the receptionist. I even shared this with Hotels.com. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy!

Not a bad place. If you have lived downtown before then you have no worries. The neighborhood is alright down 8th and 9th street as it is mostly an asian area. At night is not bad as the hotel is just a block away from the 9th ave station into NYC. I just find it to be in an odd place to have a hotel but for the price and that fact that its next to the subway was great. I picked the place as it was quite at night. It seems scary but if you've lived downtown before then you don't have much to worrie about. There is a 24 hour shop down the street for drinks and food. Oh and if you plan on driving up there they have a small garage that fits only about 5 to 6 cars so don't do that.

Granted that we had a discounted rate, this was by far the cheapest option we got compared to anywhere in Manhattan. The hotel is brand new, very clean, rooms are very comfortable, nice bathrooms. One block away from subway station, 30 minutes away from all Manhattan attractions. The immediate neighborhood is not nice and don't expect anything of it as far as leisure, dining or shopping; this is a place for you to sleep well and comfortably and commute to/from Manhattan.

The only thing that was kind of annoying was the noise. We could here our neighbor watching TV at night and all the other guests coming home and being loud at night. But since the hotel was very clean and new and the subaystation was only two blocks away, we were very satisfied and would really recommend the kings hotel.

We found the Kings hotel to be great for it's location in Brooklyn, close to the subway, only 15 minutes from Manhatten. The service was good, especially since we extended our reservation and the manager was accomodating to our needs. The hotel itself was a gem - with indoor parking, fresh flowers in the lobby and seemingly brand new décor that varied in design on each floor. The room itself was simple and very comfortable - clean white linens and mahogany wood furniture. A unique treat was the availability of hot tea as well as plenty of adjustable lighting and air conditioning in our room. This will be our choice next time we return to NYC.

Although room was small, neighborhood (working class) is funky & parking is limited (though FREE!), the Kings makes it a very good spot for jumping off to see NYC's sights. Nearby Subway (less than block) took us right to the Front Gate of Yankee Stadium in about an hour! Already have recommended to our friends!

The Kings hotel is a brand new hotel (no more than three months old in july of 2009), but it is on a block with nothing else on it - just some stoneyards, garages, etc. Trying to find breakfast was an adventure! From some pictures in a window across the street, showing a suburban-ish house and driveway, there may be a plan to develop the area, but right now it is not near much. Also, the rooms are pretty small for a new hotel - if you are the type (like me) who likes to unpack into drawers, there aren't enough drawers to do that.

The hotel is very close to the subway station; about a 5 minute walk. But think twice before planning to take the train late at night. The surrounding neighborhood does not seem safe (nothing happened to me nor did I see anything happen to someone else, but the condition of the neighborhood suggested that caution be used.) The hotel room was well kept; clean with plenty of towels, with the only complaint being that the noise level from the hallway. It seemed as though any noise from the hallway traveled directly into my room. I heard every door close and people talking as though they were right outside my room. I am not sensitive to noise, but the acoustics in this hotel were not great. Overall I was satisfied with the hotel. Inexpensive, close to the subway, and friendly employees.

Pretty cheap rates and the place is RIGHT near the subway (about 1 block). But you get what you pay for. The room was VERY small, AC unit didn't work. And the advertised "Karaoke Bar" is still not open. Don't think you are going to do much in the surrounding neighborhood, there really isn't much at all. If you are going to NYC for a weekend or short trip and don't plan on being in the hotel for very much of the time, this is a good spot. Convenience to the subway was the biggest plus. Staff was pretty polite too but it seemed like they were always overwhelmed with calls etc.

The Hotel I must admit was decorated very nicely... but the rooms were very small with no iron... which you could rent along with a $10 deposit...no coffee pot but they gave you teabags... and the price we paid was not worth the stay. However it was very conveinent that the train station was a block away but I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody and my next trip to New York will not involve the Kings Hotel

This hotel provided the basics and the price was good for the money. The staff was very accommodating and even called the room prior to checkout to remind me of the checkout time. The location was somewhat convenient even with train delays on a Saturday. I was only a few blocks away from the train station.

For the price that we paid, the service, room, and amenities were very fair. The indoor parking with about 10 slots was convenient relative to the street level and elevator. Our only issue was that the plastic cover was still on the new mattress so the linen kept sliding off. Also the airconditioner would not turn off. Since we had a smoking room, it was strange to discover that there was no ventilation system. As a final analysis, we would return to this hotel if we were in a pinch for a place to stay near Manhattan.

There was no off street parking available to us, although we had been told that there would be. The Bathroom floor was not clean ; many visible hairs and dust. Bed mattress was wrapped in a plastic cover that made noise every time we moved. All the above being said , the hotel was adequate and the location was good for our needs.

We had a very poor stay at this hotel for the following reasons: 1. Because the hotel does not have carpeting, the noise of doors closing and people in the halls was deafening. 2. We wanted to pour a soda, so we picked up one of the hotel cups: it had chewed, blue bubble gum attached to it. Upon check-in, the room was disheveled. 3. During our first night, there was a loud fight between a young man and a drunk woman in a room down the hall. Glass ashtrays were thrown in the hall and broken. The yelling went on for 3 hours, and the front desk did NOTHING. 4. That same young man threatened us in the hallway the following morning. We were afraid to leave our room. 5. There was plastic on the mattress which caused us to sweat profusely. When we complained at the front desk, they merely smiled. Again, nothing was done. 6. If you want toilet paper, go buy some. If you want your room cleaned, while you're buying the toilet paper, pick up some cleaning products. The laundry mat is up the street so you can wash your sheets as well. They don't even come to your room until 5 pm, if they do at all. 7. There was one maid in a hotel of 5 floors. She was good (I felt sorry for her), but she struggled. 8. Ice machine is on the 5th floor. Have fun waiting for the elevator. It's as slow as death. 9. The smoke/fire alarm beeped on and on for over an hour. Someone from the desk came up, but was unable to fix the problem initially. The fire exit door (the stairs) was locked. We threatened to call the police, but was told not to. 10. We had to have the key to the room re-keyed EVERY day (we spent a week there), and didn't find this out until we couldn't get back in the room. They had no way of programming the key for the entire time. And again, wait for the elevator of death when you can't get back in your room, and you have to use the facilities (knowing full well there is no toilet paper). 11. Do not under any circumstances put your bare feet on the marble floor (again, no carpeting),

Kings Hotel was very clean, and fairly well located. My only complaint would be that the entire hotel seems to be floored in marble and it is a little echo-y. The beds are a little stiff, but comfortable enough.

Very accommodating. We arrived late and had reserved a double. When we arrived there were no doubles left so they gave us two singles for the same price. Staff very helpful. Easy access to subway, less than 1/2 block (two stops and your in Manhattan). All and all, excellent choice especially considering the price. If you are only looking for a place to sleep while you spend most of your time in NYC, then this is a good choice.
