This was the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The customer service was something that resembled Disneyland customer service, very friendly. This was the second time we have stayed at the Hutton. We actually had a suite this trip. It was a very spacious and comfortable. The staff is friendly and will assets in ant way possible. The hotel staff were very helpful and paid attention to the details that matter. The facilities were decorated contemporary and kept very clean. "Overall a nice hotel."
The service in the dining room was sub par, although the food was good. It took awhile the first night to get a drink in the bar, we finally had to go up to the bar. Also a washcloth was left on our shower floor after the room had been cleaned. There was construction outside our window except for Saturday. The beds were lovely and they have Molton Brown […] products. The best thing was Colt's chocolate. We went looking for the store because they were so yummy. Took some home. We were charged for parking @ 35 plus tax per day. At that rate no one should expect tips. Stayed in a room too small for two queen beds. had a hard time moving around. Bath door was a closet sliding door with no bottom rail to glide on and one side of the door had a opening where one could see the adjoining room. The door to the room would not lock […] upon leaving We mentioned that to the desk and they sent a repairman immediately. The repair man told us to go on that he would have it fixed. We left to get to our appointment and upon returning found that the door was not operable. No one told us about this and no correction was made. It is a good place but not for the price. From valet, to check-in, to sharing an elevator with housekeeping staff, all employees were extra friendly and helpful. "Top-Notch Customer Service"
We live in Nashville, but spend our anniversary downtown each year anyway. Hotels closer to the Arena were full, so we opted for the Hutton & a mile walk. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the valet, who kindly allowed us to leave our car out front as we were only checking in then leaving. The lobby had 2 small desks being run by hotel staff. It makes […] for a very welcoming look & while we did have to wait a few minutes for check-in, the process was smooth & efficient. Our room was well appointed. The view wasn't much to write home about but the room was clean, spacious & comfortable. The bathroom was very upscale. We had an issue with the toilet but maintenance resolved that quickly. We ate Sunday brunch in their restaurant. The food was very good - fresh & well-prepared. My only complaint (not really a surprise since it's a hotel restaurant) was that a very small glass of OJ went for $3.50. Even by restaurant standards that seemed expensive. Our sole issue was around 2:30 AM when other guests decided to stand in the hallway & chat. I assume the girls didn't want to wake their roommates, so instead they took the convo to the hall & disturbed an entire floor. I did open the door & ask them to keep it down, which didn't solve the problem. I finally fell asleep before I got irritated enough to get up again & call management. "NYE get away"
My wife and I, along with another couple, stayed at the Hutton on New Year's Eve. My wife and I had stayed at the Hutton before and had an AMAZING experience. So , naturally, when our out-of-town friends asked where we should all stay on NYE, we suggested the Hutton. This experience was much different from our previous stay, however. Some of the more […] frustrating things that we dealt with included: 1) extremely long check-in lines (which, granted, is not entirely in the hotel's control but there were several employees just standing around who could have been assisting other guests) 2) our room was facing a wall of construction (again, not the hotel's fault but if you're paying $400/night for a room they should let you know that you will be staring at a bulldozer all night) 3) the décor in the room was falling apart 4) the key card device that you use to use the lights in the room didn't work 5) neighbors were very loud, and even after security was called (at 2am) they were still obnoxious 6) newspaper was requested and not delivered in the morning Again, a lot of these things aren't directly under control of the Hutton; but a lot of these could at least have been mitigated by a hotel staff you would expect at a 4.5 star hotel. "Not worth it"
Staff got off on the wrong foot by warmly welcoming my husband "back to the hotel," even though he had not been there before. If I was a concerned wife, that would have raised a red flag for me. Then, the same person proceeded to interact with my husband, even though I had booked the room (and extras) as a gift for my husband. The room was tiny with […] no tub. The expresso machine for the floor didn't work, which I reported after checking in. (It was never fixed.) The coffee machine only produced a half cup of coffee each day, the remote buttons were worn out, and there was a "valley" in the mattress, which needed to be replaced. We ate breakfast there the first morning, and 3 or 4 people waited on us. I guess that justified the high prices. (You can eat a delicious breakfast for half the price at West End Cafe just up the street.) I had booked a couples massage in their "spa." We went down 5 minutes before the scheduled time, and no one was there and the place was freezing! It went on from there. The therapists included their late and set-up time in their 1.5 hour block. On a positive note, the valets did a great job in transporting people to and from downtown for New Year's Eve. The maids did a good job, too.
