This hotel has a great location. We liked everything about it. We did find that the elevators were slow to arrive but that was the only negative.Genuine Expedia guest review
All fine except one of three elevators out of service. The morning we left (from 14th floor) all the elevators coming down for 10 minutes were full. We ended up walking down 14 flights with our luggage and two grandchildren.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
front desk personal was excellent, Felix O'Casey the manager went above&beyond to make our stay perfect. Room had great views of EPS building,& Macys in Harold Square. Room had all the amenities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Awful Stay - Dirty and Poor Management"
No respect or consideration from the management of this hotel. We have stayed in many hotels each year and this by far was the worst. For $300 for a room, it should have been one of the nicest. My relatives died and it took our reservation elsewhere but the management had the power to allow us to cancel 3 days before. They didn't. We arrived at 1am […] and the employees said that management is very money greedy and no compassion. The rooms are 250 sq ft or so and the beds are awful. The bathroom was dirty and there is no room service past 10. This place is crazy. Will never come again and will let everyone know about it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location, very clean room and very pleasant staff. However, the hotel was completely lacking in ambiance. The room was so small that if you opened the luggage rack, you blocked the bathroom or one side of the bed. . Only 2 of 3 elevators were working for 23 floors and could only hold 6 people at a time. Even the hallways seemed like a motel 6. […] Would not stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hilton Garden Inn New York/West 35th Street I am sorry to see that your stay panned out to be only worthy of three stars. We did encounter a problem with one of our elevators recently (which has since been repaired); I'm sorry to hear that this inconvenienced you during your stay.
"Great place to stay anytime in NYC"
I usually don't write reviews but have to say if I venture back to NYC soon I will definitely choose this hotel to return to. The location and proximity to train and city was superb. I only used the subway once and easy walk to most places. I loved that they had coffee (good too) every morning and a paper to grab. Also, apples for a quick snack. The […] room was clean and efficient and bed comfortable. The other thing I look for in a hotel is the ability to open the window for fresh air and this one had it! The first night my fridge made funny noises and woke me up several times - when I mentioned it to the front desk the next morning they quickly fixed the problem. However, the last night the fridge wasn't working but I didn't say anything as I only had water in it and I'm sure they would have quickly remedied the problem. I never did grab a drink at the small bar they had in the lobby but every night I came in it was the same bartender with a smile. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect hotel for a weekend in NYC."
Perfect hotel and location, steps from a subway intersection. Close but not too close to Times Square and a few blocks from Penn Station. Looked at many hotels prior to booking and am glad we chose this one. Very clean, quiet and very friendly & helpful staff. Will definitely stay here again. Tip: pay a bit more for the city view, you'll be facing […] the Empire State Building, well worth it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel, centrally located"
Arrived a little early for checkin, but they got me a room right away. Spacious for Manhattan and very clean. Staff was very helpful and courteous, no bad attitudes.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hilton Garden Inn New York/West 35th Street I'm happy to read that you were able to get in early! We do not charge for early checkin- if we have a room ready, we are happy to check guests in so that they can maximize your time in the room and in the city!
"Close to Attractions"
I found the central location of this hotel pleasing. One block from Empire State Building, six blocks from Time Square; close to subways and Long Island Rail Road. Made getting there cheap and easy. Arrived on a Saturday, and the AirTrain from JFK was closed for maintenance so they gave free bus ride to Jamica Station, and Long Island Rail Road (faster […] than the A subway) was only $4 on Sat/Sun. Let me off at Penn Station, just two blocks from the hotel. Returning to JFK on Monday, I took the A Subway, and although it was 30 mins longer than LIRR, it was only $2.75. Bought a two day New York Pass for $169. but spending time in the museums means you can't see many attractions in a day. I saw (5) attractions in two days, and would have saved $40 if I had paid individually instead of buying the card. If you can do four attractions per day it might be worth it, but I doubt I could. "NY state of mind!"
Deciding on a hotel in a city you're not familiar with can be challenging. I booked my room requesting a city view based on Hilton's website photo and to my surprise I got more than I bargained for. It was awesome to discover my room came with an incredible view of the Empire State Building. I'm not hard to please and the view alone was all I needed […] to enjoy my short stay! Thank u Hilton! "Old and needs updating"
This place needs some updating. The comforter was all snagged from being so old. The walls and furniture is all scuffed up. This place is in major need of renovation. Or at least get new bed sheets and covers. Very dissapointed. Will not go back.Genuine Expedia guest review
the hotel was a perfect location. The staff was helpfull and room was clearGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in great location."
A nice Hilton property, conveniently located near Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, theaters, restaurants, etc. our king bed was comfy, though the room was rather small. Plenty of towels, very nice shower. We did notice in our non-smoking room the smell of smoke from another room coming through the vents. Not pleasant. Breakfast is not included and […] rather pricey. We went out and found Pax, an awesome restaurant/take out place around the corner that had everything. Also, Brendan's is on 35th and a delicious place for dinner. "Conveniently located to Subway and Broadway"
My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Garden on 35th st because it was in a perfect location. On Friday we visited the Freedom Museum and had dinner that night at Keens Steakhouse. You work out the front door and the subway station is just to the right about 30 yards. The R train took us right downtown and back.Keens was the next block over. This location […] was perfect. Saturday we went to a Matinee Broadway show. Check out is noon, the hotel keep our bags at no charge. Aside for the rooms being small, this hotel was clean and the people working there were friendly and helpful with directions. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved it, Except the Parking was not arranged as I had planned and I was forced to park at a city pay lot over night that cost me $150. I asked before booking if i could park and was told yes. when i arrived (very early morning) i was forced to find something last minute. It really affected my trip and I was very disappointed with the parking billGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, CLEAN, and updated."
I have stayed in many mid-range hotels in Manhattan. The Hilton Garden Inn on West 35th Street is, by far, top of the mid-range category. The check-in staff was efficient and friendly, the hotel was welcoming, and it was - most importantly- clean and safe. I will emphasize CLEAN, super CLEAN. It was in a great location near Penn Station and a short […] walk to many attractions; specifically Times Square. I will stay here again when travelling to Manhattan. Clean and decent sized room, hotel is very close location to empire state bldg, times square and subway system.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms are tiny. This is an affordable hotel, so the guests are about what you'd expect. It got pretty loud in the hallway at times. But, the room was clean and the staff was friendly. It's absolutely good enough for a short stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a great stay and I would recommend it to anyone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Fall getaway to New England, Canada, and New York City.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I would recommend this because the location was excellent and the hotel itself was pretty decent. There were elevator issues and one of the days we were there no one ever came to clean our room, but overall, the hotel was great, especially for the price.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel small rooms"
Great! Clean, staff amazing.... We had the city view. Was a birthday surprise for my boyfriend. Hotel is located next to everything walking distance plus you get discount parking for staying at the hotel Only neg - rooms were small! For the price and the room size I felt like I was hustled. Otherwise, beautiful and we enjoyed our comfy bed!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Less than 10 minute walk from Penn Station around 5 pm. The front desk attendants were personable and helpful. The concierge was pleasant. The room was efficient and clean. The "city view" was an office building across the street but I wasn't too concerned about what was out the window. i traveled to New York for my hubby birthday. The hotel is is in the city so of course very crowded. No parking. The good thing was we got there after 6. Street parking is free during the weekend. If not we would have paid 22$ a night. The hotel was nice. People were helpful and friendly. Nice experienceGenuine Expedia guest review
"Right in herald square!"
The room was small but we heard that before we got there. The biggest need for this location is a staff elevator. We paid more for a room on a higher level and there was no benefit to that. On the morning when we were rushing to leave the hotel we had three staff members from three different floors get into the same elevator as us on the way down and […] stopped at three different floors which means six extra stops before we can make it to the bottom. This happens every day, plan accordingly. Nothing special there to make us return. Sad old smelly pillows and comforter. Higher cleanliness rating if this was not the case.
