Sundance Mountain Lodge

Wow! What a great place to stay! My family and I had an amazing time. It has all the convenience of staying in the city but such a mountain lodge feel. We will definitely be coming back!

The lodge was beautiful, our room very nice, the setting beautiful and relaxing, just what we were looking for. However, no one came to clean our room for the three days we stayed there. Also, for the three days we stayed there only one person on the staff spoke to us and that was the guy who checked us in the first night. We saw lots of staff coming […] and going on the grounds, but no one spoke to us about how our stay was going or if our room needed cleaning. Also, the night we arrived there was a wedding going on with lots of drunk people around. The day we left, three days later, there were still beer bottles laying around, broken glass on the walkways, and the hottub smelled like beer when we tried to use it. Hotel is an older property but well maintained. It is hard to rate service since the hotel ascribes to the earth friendly philosophy of not making your room or changing your towels unless you request it by hanging a placard on your door knob. The site said renovations complete in 2008. Our room was located in a section of the hotel right next to one being renovated! Construction trash everywhere, overgrown weeds, and a lake full of algae. All this outside our window! The room had been redone but it was sloppy work and not very clean. Not to mention climbing tons of steps with luggage to […] get to our room because there is no elevator at the hotel, they don't tell you this on their site. We requested to be moved to a ground level and the following day we were put in a courtyard area which was much nicer. The restaurant is very nice and the food is good. The pool was maintained well. The entrance and surrounding property around the hotel is overgrown and weedy and looks rather slummy. Although the staff was accommodating in getting us into another room that was better, we won't stay here again. NOT at all what we had expected based on ratings and reviews. Read more

This lodge is showing signs of its age. Quaint by current chain hotel standards, many of the guest rooms appeared under remodeling. Our 1st room lasted just one night as only hot water was available at sinks and showers. After explaining to three different staff members our concerns we were brought to the front desk, given another roon keycard and asked […] to move. Not great service. Guestroom Internet service never did work and again, because that service was apparently available to the lobby and front desk, no one really seemed to care if it worked in the guest rooms or not. The swimming pool was not heated so be prepared for that chill. House keeping lacked motivation in changing linens and empying trash. In room TV channel selection differed in each room and was limited in choices. During our week long stay and two room occupancy, we felt like burdens rather than guests. The restaurant, Oakley's was noisey but convenient. A short drive to the opposite side of the interstate highway has many more better choices for meals. All-in- all we were fine at this lodge for the purpose of our visit, however hindsight would have me book an exit or so further south for more options and conveniences. The lodge booked a wedding during our stay which made we 'regular' guests feel really unwelcomed in the small common areas of the pool and restaurant. A little notice of this would have been nice by the staff. Read more

It seemed like it was once a nice hotel. Rooms were very far from where the car was parked. Lots of steps with big suitcases. Front yard grass had not been cut. The swimming pool was closed. Sheets did not fit the bed. Shower curtain rod was broken. Too many things that were run down. Would not stay there again. Staff was very nice to us.

I was greatly disappointed that the pool wasn't filled. Other than that the employees were helpful and friendly. We had a great room, very comfy. It was near the highway, but amazingly quiet. We had access to a gym that we could walk to. We took advantage of that. It was convenient for the event we were attending.

My husband and I and our 9 year old son stayed here for 4 nights and it was the worst stay we have ever had. The beds were horrible, the room was not very clean (soap scum ring in the bathtub) and the free internet was impossible to stay logged in to. We picked this hotel for the outside pool and location. The pool was closed for repair when we got […] there. The location was good and close to all attractions. The food in the restaurant was decent but they did not provide any room service. The discount breakfast was more than enough for the price. There was complimentary coffee in the lobby but it was not made when we went to have some. The lobby itself was closed from the early evening until the late morning. It was not open when we went to check out and we had to call to get our receipt mailed to us. This is a great place to stay if you are passing through; I cannot comment on all the hotel offers for we were just there to sleep really. Justin at the front desk made this a 3.5 in my mind. He was great, friendly and super helpful. I would say that the hotel itself seems a bit dated, there were no real light fixtures in the room so it was a bit dark, […] there was a mint on the floor in the bathroom which then made me wonder how well they clean after each guest. This is our fourth time staying at this hotel and continue to have a good experience. The hotel is nothing fancy but it is clean, afordable and very convient off the interstate. Doesn't hurt that their is a Starbucks across the way!

This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in a long time! The staff was very friendly and I loved the peaceful atmosphere! The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. We plan to come back this summer to enjoy the courtyard and pool. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone. Oakley's restaurant has a great $3.95 breakfast!

The only drawback we found to the lodge was that the bed was very old and the springs felt as thought they would come through the bed cover at any moment. Other than that, it was a great stay - great and courteous staff and the food was good. Very easy to access location, not too close, nor not too far from everything we were interested in.

We had an excellent experience at the Sundance Mountain Lodge. In particular the staff at SML was very helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the cost was very reasonable. We were also at a prime location which made it very easy to travel to locales in the Monument/Colorado Springs area.

I would not go to this hotel again. The stay itself was fine but when I returned home there were two charges on my account that I was never informed of. Both charges were for pets that I did not even have. It took me sometime to get a refund. Nice hotel but check your account for charges when you get home.

Hotel is OK but the lighting is quite poor in the room.Especially in the bathroom~hard to see to apply makeup. We asked for a handicap room but there were no hand rails in the shower or next to the toilet. We did manage Ok though so all went well. Thank you

We were driving from Aspen to this hotel in a snowstorm and called because we weren't sure if we would make it in time to check in. The lady who answered was very helpful and even said that she could check us in and leave the key in the mailbox for us if we were late. The front desk people were very nice, but on the Sunday night that we stayed, the bar/restaurant didn't serve any dinner, and the chef/bartender wasn't completely honest about what he could make us. Nice surroundings! Streams, mini waterfalls, and a pond full of ducks and geese right outside our room! A little strange calling it a "mountain lodge" cause it's miles from the mountains. It's not a 4 diamond hotel by any means, but if you're just going to plop down approximately $75-$100 at the Days Inn or whatever, this is a far better choice! At least this place has character, an amazing day staff, a great restaurant with a very cheap breakfast to boot, and large, clean rooms. Apparently this business has changed owners and it is […] now a much more charming place to stay. It is; however, located very close to a business park, which can be a good thing if you're looking for convenience, but it might be a little distracting if you're in the far back building. For us, though, it was the perfect combination of woodsy charm and convenience. The ducks and swans are adorable and it makes for a nice romantic stroll to just walk along the winding pathways of the property passing ponds and streams on tiny bridges along the way. I was highly impressed with the service and size of our King room. The wi-fi was slightly sketchy, though, in the room at least. Still, give this place a shot, you'll probably be suprised at the value for the money! Bonus: It's quite close to the famous Rosie's Diner-as seen on TV! Read more

Although this is not a bad hotel, it isn't a 3-star property (2-stars). Furthermore, given the rate I was charged, it was a poor value. My room was relatively small and had a distinct scent of wet dog. I believe they allow pets at this property, so you may want to ask about it before you check-in. Furthermore, my bed was hard and the sink was separated […] from the toilet and shower. The latter is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is in an open to the rest of the living space, which can be distracting to others who they are trying to wach TV. All units appear to have balconies but I don't believe any of the balconies had furnishings, mine definitely did not. As for views, the hotel claims that each room has one. This is an overstatement. My view was of some grass and the eastern parking lot (the Douglas Fir section), not the Rockies. This property is on the eastside of I-25 (Exit 161), which separates it from the majority of hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and stores in Monument. Although this placement makes the location quieter, it also makes it a bit isolated. The hotel does have a small pool, a restaurant/bar, and vending machines, but I did not utilize them.
