This hotel is et in beautifyl grounds with plenty of pools and water features. Our room was private with a pool right outside which suited our needs. The downsides were the shuttle into town only left the hotel every two hours and was often late, and the shuttle back to the hotel was also very unreliable- it added stress to what was meant to be a relaxing […] break. Could be viewed as charming and old-fashioned by some, I suppose, but in my experience it was cluttered, dusty, moldy in places, and the pool near the breakfast area was basically an algae pond. Not chlorinated and hadn't been cleaned I at least 18 months, and acted as a mosquito magnet.

I stayed in a suite within the main hotel. There was no hot water and sometimes no water at all in my room for 4 of the days I stayed there. I spoke to the staff about this on the first night and it was not fixed until the third day when I insited on getting the managers assistance and evetually the hot water was off again. The overall grounds of the hotel are beautiful. The hotel was quite far from town and not a convenient walk so you have to rely on the shuttle that only goes every two hours. Either I did not read the fine print or it was not there on the Hotels.com hotel info page. The entire Island of Bali shuts down, I mean no auto traffic, jet service, electricity, AC, water and minimal hotel services on Hindu New year, on a 10 month (moon ) cycle. It totally sucked being unable to flush toilets and bathing in the swimming pool! Freezers […] were off and I expect that the hotel food was spoiling. The hotel gates were shut and no one was allowed in or out of the hotel grounds. The staff did the best they could but as a westerner, I will never visit Bali on Hindu new year again. We did enjoy our private villa, beautiful hotel set up, pleasant music, massages and dinners at Indochine restaurant. However, breakfast was very disappointing (the trainees could not even make eggs and everything was served undercooked), New Year's Dinner food was below average, especially compared to the usual outstanding food both in terms of quality […] and presentation. Massages and facials were lovely. Overall the hotel personnel was helpful and friendly, however, we did get disturbed by one s/m working at the reception. He tried to impose his company on us, made inappropriate comments and stalked me both in the hotel and in town when I was having dinner without my partner. The service was superb and the staff was very friendly. The most of all their rate in November was very competitive for a five star hotel. One issue I did not like is yyou have to use the Hotel shuttle to go to UBUDA downtown but the schedule is evey two hours. If you need to use the service during other time then you have to pay for it at a rate of five dollars each way. My wife and I will be back soon so I highly recommend it. Read more

Excellent facilities and very good service. The biggest drawback is the shuttle service to get to downtown: it is infrequent and unreliable. The hotel location makes it quite difficult to walk to down town and getting taxis to come back is not easy.

My two daughters (17 and 9 years old) and I stayed at the hotel for two nights. We were staying in Nusa Dua and decided at the last minute to go to Ubud while the my husband and son went surfing. We booked our room the day before on hotels.com and didn't know what to expect. It was a very unique experience unlike any other hotel I've been to before! […] It will always be a great memory. We drove in to the grand hotel entrance surrounded by gardens. We were greeted by friendly employees in a gorgeous lobby with amazing art work and two staircases (hence "The Mansion"). Our room was out back in Baliwood - a short walk through vibrant gardens and statues. The room was not that great - it had a rattan ceiling and a bathroom that was in the back of the room, separated from our room by a sliding glass door but still private. The room had a strong musky, earthy smell which was overshadowed by a candle burning a strong jasmine scent hidden in the corner. I put out the candle so we could deal with one smell and not two. It wasn't really moldy - just earthy. The air-conditioning worked fine. The bed was a "king" but really it was two full beds put together. It was clean and comfortable and easily fit all three of us. The bathroom was not air-conditioned but it was clean and different - the shower was above the tub with no curtain and part of the floor was bamboo poles and you could see the ground. (The girls were a little freaked about about a snail on the wall the size of my hand - I told them that is was their hotel pet so they named him Chad.) But other parts of the floor were very nice tile and marble fixtures. Overall, I thought the room was fine for a couple of nights - the toilet worked great and the sink area was fine - the towels were clean. There were beautiful paintings on the walls and elegant art work and statues every where you looked. It was a strange combination of funky and elegant. It was the nicest, most friendly place I've ever stayed. I truly loved my experience and will definitely be staying there again and recommending it to everyone. A lovely breakfast was served by the infinity pool each day, a chef would make me a vegetarian omelet on request and they'd bring me green tea, all the staff are polite and say hello and smile […] each time you walk past. Went to this hotel because I NEEDED solid internet as it was more work than play... they advertised high speed wireless and wired internet... moved rooms when i got there because I couldnt connect then spent the next 3 hours trying to connect on 3 different devices, eventually got it to work. From the moment my wife and me checked into Mansion, our trip to Bali was a dream. The staff are in traditional attire and very friendly, helpful and sweet. The resort is an old Balinese-style mansion, which has paintings, sculptures and art from the region. Its awesome. There are beautiful gardens, lotus ponds, and nice flora to please your senses. […] The hotel arranged a car for us to tour Bali at a fixed cost. There's a regular shuttle that takes guests from the resort to Ubud city centre. The timings are available at the reception. The Indochine restaurant has some awesome food and pleasing Balinese and Indo-chinese music. They serve a nice breakfast buffet in the morning and the staff at the restaurant goes the extra mile to help you with your meal. There's a pool by the restaurant surrounded by greenery. We stayed for seven of the ten nights we booked at the mansion. Initially we were thrilled at the surrounding gardens, pools and restaurant which all look fantastic. We were given our own private villa with an outdoor toilet, bath, shower and own private pool. This was great for the first day until we started to notice the presence of the insects - […] wasps, ants, dragonflies and mosquitoes which would hover around our toilet area. We were heavily sprayed up with aeroguard so we wouldnt get bitten but we were bitten anyway. The resturant was not five star and was dreadful. We ate every night until we were there except the last night after we ate something bad and were very sick within hours. The location is close to ubud (not walking distance) and they have a free shuttle bus which was great. The free breakfast in the morning was ok. We just ate the freshly made omelette and were cautious of the other foods on offer. If staying here limit to a short stay and avoid the restaurant food and expect to see lots of insects and other creatures lurking about especially at night. Read more

The hotel is little out of Ubud which is nice so it's quiet, but the free shuttle to/from town is great, otherwise it's a cheap taxi. I would definately stay here again.
