"Nice hotel good location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
The Mar de Luz has a unique Costa Rican feel. the all wood ceilings and the surrounding gardens are quite nice. The pool area is a good place to relax and cool off. The location is very convenient...right on the main drag, walking distance to the beach. The included breakfast was cooked to order and very nice. I have stayed here a couple of times and would recommend it to anyone.
"Off the beaten path beauty"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
Clandestino was exactly what I wanted, but it might not be for everyone. The villas were gorgeous, the price was great, the surroundings were beautiful, and the ocean was right across the dirt road (complete with incredible sunsets). However, I can't imagine staying here without a rental car. I used my rental car daily to drive to Quepos and Manual Antonio for meals, tours, and shopping. Driving back and forth made me feel more familiar with the area and allowed for me to see real Costa Rican life. The rooms were spotless, and the pool was amazing. Highly recommended, even if a little far!
"los Suenos Apartment rental"Reviewed by Earl G. of "Cincinnati" on Apr 5, 2012
Instead of the Marriott also on the resort grounds, we stayed in one of the CR Luxury Apartment rental units instead. Large, beautifully decorated inside and out, nice view of the bay and grounds, and its own soaking pool overlooking a private greenspace and the bay beyond. Requires a walk of several minutes to shopping, restaurants, etc. On the resort, but the seclusion of these units makes them very private. Would absolutely use this again and recommend it!
"Hotel Villa Creole in Jaco, Costa Rica"Reviewed by Mike P of "Spokane, WA" on Feb 16, 2012
This is a small hotel away from the main street of Jaco, Costa Rica. Nice grounds and pool and a kitchenette type room. No restaurant at the hotel, but they have a continental breakfast. If you want quiet in this surf town, this is it, but a twenty minute walk to the beach.
"La Dolce Vita"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 5, 2012
The staff was friendly, beautiful location, though it is a bit of a drive to surrounding cities. Overall, a very good experience!

"Hotel 9 a great place on the beach"
This is a great place to stay and the resturant is also very good. Talk with the owner he looks as though he really like owning a hotel in Costa Rica. The addition of free surfboards was awsome.
"Just what we were looking for"
This hotel is perfectly situated "On the beach". We were extremely happy with the amenities and the rooms were pleasantly decorated. The hotel has an ample restaurant on-site, and staff were extremely friendly. My only problem was with the air conditioning in the first room. Second day they moved me to another room, and the air conditioning didn't work […] in that room either. On the third night, I moved into my friends room where I was able to sleep. Without A/C, you really can't sleep, but the ceiling fan helped a bit. I got about 4 hours of sleep the first two nights. I only wished they would have credited me for the inconvenience. Otherwise, a very enjoyable stay overall. Jenny and Patritcia were helpful and accommodating through out our stay. Read more
"Hotel Nine Awesome"
My girlfriend and I just got back from Costa Rica. We stayed at Hotel Nine from the 21st of March until the 26th. I just want to say what a great time we had in Jaco and at the Hotel. Rooms were great, comfortable bed, big showers, cold air conditioning, awesome pool and hot tub, great waterfall, super food, bing your fresh caught fish, wow awesome […] tacos, right on the beach, sunsets on the patio. I just can't say enough about the quality of service from the staff and the owner who gave me a jump start when my rental car battery was dead. In my opinon Hotel Nine is best hotel in Jaco. My 50th birthday next year will be at Hotel Nine! Mark from Dallas. Read more
"Great for beginner sufers"
The hotel location was EXCELLENT for surfing lessons. You walk out maybe 25 yds and you are on the beach. The surfing lessons cabana is immediately outside the hotel on the beach. You don't have to take anything with you to the beach since your hotel room is so close. The food in Costa Rica is nothing to write home about, but the restaurant on the […] second floor had the best tasting Costa Rican food as well as other types of food that i've had on my 10 day Costa Rica vacation. I highly recommend this hotel and I would consider staying here again. Read more
"Doctor in Paradise"
My husband and I really enjoyed Hotel 9. It was exactly what we were looking for. The room was clean and the air-conditioning was great. We had a refrigerator and microwave . Restaurant prices were reasonable There are only 10 rooms so the environment is intimate. We were on the beach with free surfboards. They washed our clothes prior to leaving so […] we did not have to travel with dirty laundry. The staff was like family. Dennis, Patricia, Daniella, Jessica and Olga were amazing. I left my iPod and we had to drive back on the day we left and they had already locked in in a safe for us. We will definitely go back! Read more
"hotel sucked"
AC didn't work most of the time. Room was ok. TV was awesome. Felt a little too institutional. Location was great.
"Look elsewhere..."
Skip Jacó altogether. This town has a crappy rough-surf dark sand beach, full of surfers on low budgets, roaming around the seedy little town that is Jacó. The Hotel is overpriced, located in a hard to reach unpaved rocky alley across the beach (4x4 required to drive here..). Rooms are austere, with very old fixtures, not the 'boutique hotel' being […] advertised. Our shower didn't even work and there were sewer smells coming from the drain, as if from bad plumbing installations. The office closes at 7 p.m., so if you run into issues after this time, good luck until the next day. The ceilings and furniture in the hallway all had mold growing on it. The pictures shown are a lot more photogenic than what you see when you get there in person. If you must stay in this area, do yourself a favor, spend a couple extra dollars and stay at the Los Sueños Marriott in Herradura Beach up the street. Read more
"Overpriced but great place to stay"
The hotel is in a great location, steps from the beach and is very modern from the outside. The rooms have more of a local feel though and don't seem to fit the moder decor of the outside hotel. It was clean and comfortable though but way overpriced in my opinion. Also, parking was an issue as they don't have enough spots for guest so you constantly […] have to shuffle spots. Overall, It was a good experience but I probably would stay somewhere else next time as there are other nearby hotels for a fraction of the price that are just as clean with the same amenities. "Great Location"
The staff were great. Very helpful. The place is not as hot as the pictures would indicate but it is a nice place to stay. For the money hard to beat. We also felt safe there as well if that is a concern of yours. They could update a few things in the rooms. Also the water features around the pool and wall didnt run much.
"Hotel Nine, Jaco, Costa Rica"
Le pire hotel qu'on a connu. Odeurs d'humidité extrême dans la chambre. Meubles et décor minables. Restaurant fermé le soir. Seul point positif: la situation de l'hotel face à la plage et chaises longues fournies.
