Hotel Nine - Jaco

I stayed in the VIP suite. Much nicer than expected. Try the smoothies at the restaurant on the second floor, one of the best I've ever had. The staff couldn't be nicer. You'll be glad you chose this hotel.

Disappointed. Left a day early and just ate the cost because we were uncomfortable. It's fine if all you want to do is surf but the main downtown area is quite a walk away and the beach itself is very muddy. There was a cockroach in the first room they gave us and the bed was very uncomfortable. The staff was very nice however.

We were pretty disappointed with Hotel Nine. The hotel itself was a bit run down and not well maintained, however it was really the staff that left us with a bad experience. There were two employees working throughout our stay there and whenever we interacted with them, they seemed bothered by us. To compound their lack of service, on the first day […] we were there, they were smoking marijuana a few chairs down from us on the second floor restaurant balcony. On the second day, they were sunbathing on the beach and we had to find them out there to get the service we required. We would not recommend this hotel until the owner hires new staff and renovates the hotel. Read more

This is a great place to stay and the resturant is also very good. Talk with the owner he looks as though he really like owning a hotel in Costa Rica. The addition of free surfboards was awsome.

This hotel is perfectly situated "On the beach". We were extremely happy with the amenities and the rooms were pleasantly decorated. The hotel has an ample restaurant on-site, and staff were extremely friendly. My only problem was with the air conditioning in the first room. Second day they moved me to another room, and the air conditioning didn't work […] in that room either. On the third night, I moved into my friends room where I was able to sleep. Without A/C, you really can't sleep, but the ceiling fan helped a bit. I got about 4 hours of sleep the first two nights. I only wished they would have credited me for the inconvenience. Otherwise, a very enjoyable stay overall. Jenny and Patritcia were helpful and accommodating through out our stay. Read more

My girlfriend and I just got back from Costa Rica. We stayed at Hotel Nine from the 21st of March until the 26th. I just want to say what a great time we had in Jaco and at the Hotel. Rooms were great, comfortable bed, big showers, cold air conditioning, awesome pool and hot tub, great waterfall, super food, bing your fresh caught fish, wow awesome […] tacos, right on the beach, sunsets on the patio. I just can't say enough about the quality of service from the staff and the owner who gave me a jump start when my rental car battery was dead. In my opinon Hotel Nine is best hotel in Jaco. The internet wasn't working for most of my 1 week stay, the place looks more run down than the photos depict, and there was a bug in one of my clean towels when I unfolded it. On the upside, it felt safe, AC worked all of the time, it was on a nicer part of Jaco beach, and the hotel arranged airport transfers without any major hassles.

The hotel location was EXCELLENT for surfing lessons. You walk out maybe 25 yds and you are on the beach. The surfing lessons cabana is immediately outside the hotel on the beach. You don't have to take anything with you to the beach since your hotel room is so close. My husband and I really enjoyed Hotel 9. It was exactly what we were looking for. The room was clean and the air-conditioning was great. We had a refrigerator and microwave . Restaurant prices were reasonable There are only 10 rooms so the environment is intimate. We were on the beach with free surfboards. They washed our clothes prior to leaving so […] we did not have to travel with dirty laundry. The staff was like family. Dennis, Patricia, Daniella, Jessica and Olga were amazing. A little hard to find, but so worth it. Directly on the beach. I guess the hotel had an agreement with the surf dudes right there, because you could use their surfboards for free. The owner of the hotel lives on property, (Dennis), and was a great guy. My husband and I went fishing, and Dennis told us to bring the fish back and they would cook it for […] us. The best $400 fish tacos we ever ate!! LOL After walking back and forth to the main drag for four nights, (which was actually good for us),we found out a taxi ride was only $2.00, so that might help you. Highly recommend Hotel 9. Excellent stay at a small little hotel about a 1 km from the main part of Jaco. A little hard to get to by car from the city but there are signs that show where the hotel is. Right on the beach and the staff were very very friendly. Parking can be a little difficult if the hotel is full but they make it work. Free surf boards to use and free wi-fi. […] The room we stayed at was a European plan which was plenty for 2 people. Small bathroom but nothing spectacular is need when the beach is literally less than 100 feet away. Oh, and they have a surf school that is right on the beach next to hotel to get surf lessons for $45.00 for about 90-120 min. The restaurant is also tasty although expect a hotel type pricing. Skip Jacó altogether. This town has a crappy rough-surf dark sand beach, full of surfers on low budgets, roaming around the seedy little town that is Jacó. The Hotel is overpriced, located in a hard to reach unpaved rocky alley across the beach (4x4 required to drive here..). Rooms are austere, with very old fixtures, not the 'boutique hotel' being […] advertised. Our shower didn't even work and there were sewer smells coming from the drain, as if from bad plumbing installations. The office closes at 7 p.m., so if you run into issues after this time, good luck until the next day. The ceilings and furniture in the hallway all had mold growing on it. The pictures shown are a lot more photogenic than what you see when you get there in person. If you must stay in this area, do yourself a favor, spend a couple extra dollars and stay at the Los Sueños Marriott in Herradura Beach up the street. Read more

The staff were great. Very helpful. The place is not as hot as the pictures would indicate but it is a nice place to stay. For the money hard to beat. We also felt safe there as well if that is a concern of yours. They could update a few things in the rooms. Also the water features around the pool and wall didnt run much.

We had a reservation for 6 nights. On our arrival we found there was a very strong chemical smell in the room shown to us. We were shown a 2nd room which was not any better. It appeared that the rooms were cleaned and then closed up with no A/C running so the strong cleaning product fumes just stayed in the room. We stayed one night thinking that the […] A/C would reduce the problem but that was not a good idea. The next morning the hotel offered us yet another room (premium upgrade) for part of the remainder of our stay. After I got in touch with Expedia the hotel decided that maybe they could keep us in the upgraded room but by that time we seemed to be getting different stories from management so we left and went elsewhere. Expedia resolved the resulting conflict with amazing results. I will always book with Expedia from now on-this is the first time I had to get them to assist with a problem and they were just great. The hotel is quite modern with an excellent dining room. Located south of busy Jaco along arguably the best beach of the strip this hotel is right on the beach with access to a pool and surfing amenities.
