La Meridiana - Sorrento

Hotel is located 3 blocks from Sorrento' downtown and all the main attractions. The personel was great and helpful, Andres (concierge) recomended good restaurants and what to do around. My only caveat ( I work in IT) the lack of internet, but that does not affect the great review that they deserve. Greatly deserve it.

Everyone was incredibly friendly and went out of there way to ensure our stay was amazing! They have the most incredible view of all Sorrento from the Roof top patio. The hotel is so close to the Train station and a very short walk to the Ferries. It is on a quiet street and the customer service was amazing! We had to leave very early in the morning […] before breakfast and the front desk had packed a breakfast to go for us! That was attention to detail! They also suggested the boat tour of Capri with our Captain Francesco. It was truely an amazing experience and our best day in Italy. We can't wait to go back! Stayed 5 nights in April. Hotel was clean but older, worn and outdated. No wifi or computers anywhere in hotel or close by to hotel. Uncomfortable worn out twin beds (pushed together for king). Staff was friendly enough but unable to overcome limitations of hotel which were painfully obvious when we were stuck inside for 2 days of havy rain. We arrived in the rain and had to be very careful walking on the marble steps. The room was mediocore, but couldn't charge our cell phone or camera due to the "southern europe" adapter, which we didn't know we needed until we asked what was wrong the next day. We were very satisfied with the value of our hotel. The location was perfect. It had a great view of Mt. Vesuvius on the rooftop terrace. We could have had a room with a view but if you didn't, we enjoyed hanging out at the rooftop. The location was perfect. I stayed at La Meridiana in Sorrento for 10 days in July. It was a great deal. Basic room no pool but who wants to be stuck inside at the hotel when in Sorrento? La Meridiana was a 5-10 minute walk into the center of Sorrento and about 15 minutes to Marina Piccola. There is Piazza Lauro about 1 minute from the hotel with restaurants, shopping, and arcade, ATM (Deutsch Bank), Gelato, etc. There is a supermarket near by as well. The breakfast was right for the price. It is a buffet with fresh fruit, coffee, tea, juice, meats, cheeses, yogurt, breads. I did not eat dinner there but it smelled great and sounded like a great time. All the hotel staff was GREAT and very helpful. There is a lovely roof top terrace where I did lay and get some sun. Excellent location close to but outwith the town centre. Comfortable enough. Was charged extra for a room with balcony when the hotel wasn't full. This hotel could try a lot harder to improve the quality of your stay. I was very surprised it had a three star rating. Room: I booked a double but was given a triple room without any explanation. Air con: disabled because they thought the outside temperature was sufficiently cool. I requested the air con be switched on and they refused. Security: […] you leave the key with the front desk (normally okay) but there is no lockable safe in the room so I was not comfortable leaving my valuables in the room. Breakfast: standard continental but okay - the only issue was during the last hour of breakfast when most of the cold meats and cheeses had already been eaten and the hotel didn't look to replenish once they were gone. Lift: incredibly slow and does not necessarily respond to your press of the button - not a major issue but very annoying if you're on the top floor. Staff: not very helpful in terms of the things to do and see in Sorrento - the advice I received was to just walk around and see what bar/restaurants took my fancy. Most unhelpful. I ended speaking to the concierge at another hotel who provided some great advice with an exceptional level of detail. Bedding: the big one - the bed was ultra firm and the pillows had lumps of stuffing inside that offered very little or no support. I had probably the most disrupted and uncomfortable night's sleep I've ever had at any hotel (or hostel). This is not a great write up from a glass is half full kind of person. Bottom line, I won't stay at this hotel again. I also won't be recommending it to anyone either. Sure it's cheaper than some of the others in/near the centre but, in my opinion, you don't get value for your money and would be better off spending a few extra euros and staying somewhere else where you'll at least get a good night's sleep. The hotel in situated within easy walking distance of the town, railway station and convenient for the harbour. Opposite is a lemon grove which provides a nice walk through to the town. The hotel is situated between the rail station (5 mins.) and the sea and is in a perfect position for a leisurely stroll in to the town. The rooms were a little basic but had all the facilities as listed. The reception staff were very helpful and pleasant. Fica numa ótima localização; simples, mas bom. Porem o serviço é péssimo. Dizem que o café da manha é até as 9:30, chegamos as 9:00 e já não havia nada; questionamos o atendente para reposição e este foi pedir autorização para o "maitre" para tal reposição e o mesmo nitidamente de má vontade e nos olhando com antipatia negou a autorização para reposição […] (e ainda era 9:00 hrs). Só servem 1 xicara de cafe por pessoa. O check in é as 15:00 hrs e o check out as 10:00 hrs = outro verdadeiro absurdo. Saimos do quarto as 10:10 hrs, porem as 10:00 hrs o hotel desligou o ar condicionado do quarto. Extremamente mesquinho , mal educado, deselegante, constrangedor. Não indico e não volto . Um absurdo. O correto é tirar a informação de que existe café da manha neste hotel. Ett bra hotell som ligger mitt i Sorrento med nära till stationen och alla sevärdheter. Hotellet befolkas till stor del av charterturister från England och USA.
