"Great location and excellent service"
Spent 4 nights there and did not want to leave. Friendly, helpful staff who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. A tranquil haven to return to after a day of action on Surin Beach. Hope to return next year.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not Children Friendly"
Unfortunately we were mislead about this place. How it can be called a resort is beyond us. It has minimal facilities and is very difficult to navigate with an infant in a stroller. Upon arrival we were told that "there was an arrangement with the hotel next door for access to the kids club so 'noisy kids' would not be heard at the Chava" Hardly family […] friendly or welcoming. The hotel is located away from the beach which is not accessible for a stroller. SInce we only arrived late afternoon we had to stay for one night out of a planned 4 and spent half of the next day seeking alternative accommodation. Not a relaxing way to start a break in beautiful Phuket. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent 2 bedroom family apartment"
Wonderful family accommodation - huge 2 bedroom apartment. Intimate resort with stunning pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. Peter, the manager, was very helpful too and showed us around some of the other apartments at our request for future holidays. Good location. Some of the excavation work out the front of the hotel was a bit inconvenient especially in the first 4 'rainy' days making access tricky.
"Great Experience for Family"

We've been to Phuket 10+ times and have stayed at many places different places (JW Marriott, Laguna Beach Resort, La Flora, Le Meridien, etc) and would rate the Chava as the best of the bunch. We traveled to Chava with our 3 small kids. Pick up From Airport: Included in the price was pick up service in the hotel Van from the airport. Its about a 20 min drive and this was very smooth. Location: The hotel is located 3-5 minute walk to Surin Beach, which has tons of restaurants and bars along the beach. Having been to most of the main beaches in Phuket this was one of our favorites. Its kid friendly with nice sand and many places for the kids to play while parents have a drink in one of the many bars along the beach. Rooms: We stayed ina very big and comfortable 2 bedroom penthouse. The room was comfortable for our family, not overly luxurious but very comfortable beds and everything worked very well. Facilities: The resort is small so don't expect the facilities to be the same as a large resort. There is a very nice pool, a bar/restaurant and we were very happy with the food and drinks we were offered. Breakfast is fine with plenty of choices and very kid friendly. For a small price, you can use the kids club and pool (with water slides) at the Doubletree resort next door. My kids don't normally like Kids clubs that much, but they really enjoyed this one. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation that is not totally confined within the resort, with good local restaurants, massage shops, etc this is a great pick. I highly recommend.
"Great relaxing stay at The Chava"
10/12/14 Hayley T Buderim, Australia
I completely agree with the previous review, to a T. :) we travelled with our 16 year old daughter and I found it almost impossible to find a 2 bedroom apartment in Phuket. The Chava's 2 bedroom apartment is absolutely massive, and we did not want for anything in the entire week we were there. All the staff were accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Peter is a wealth of information and a lovely host. My daughter and I booked a day trip to Phi Phi Island through the hotel and were so happy with our day, it was just so breathtaking! definitely worth doing! My husband spent by the day in his "Sala" relaxing by the pool. The food at the hotel was always fresh and there is a lot to choose from on the menu. Across the road on Surin Beach - a 5 minute walk, is a whole beach full of cafes and restaurants, some more expensive than others, but all fun and enjoyable - we tried a few for lunch and dinner. :) We would definitely stay here again, best hotel for value, size, food and serenity and cleanliness for families. I still cant get over how much space we had in our room - fantastic!!! Thanks again team!
"OUR STAY AT SURIN - DON'T WASTE TIME GOOGLING FOR OTHER FAMILY OPTIONS"
10/10/14 HappyDays99NZ CHCH, NZ
Yes we felt sorry for the review below us - we had been at Surin for a week or so with absolutely beautiful weather and only left the resort one day of that, due to loving the pool area and hanging at the beach. It rained our last couple of days of our stay. The Chava - well back in February when I booked this accommodation - Peter was most helpful with answering a lot of my ridiculous questions. We initially planned to move to Khao Lak for the final 4 of our 11 nights in Phuket, but modified this plan and stayed at the Chava the whole time. I am not sure if it was the right choice in hindsight, but we certainly do not regret our plan as it happened. There was nowhere else in the whole of Phuket that I saw a 2 bedroom apartment that large with such a wonderful option for housing family. The booking process was totally professional and I had no qualms with it - especially as you know exactly what accommodation you will get on your arrival - 2 bed/2bathrooms, 2 TVS, balcony, full kitchen (unused by us) cheap as laundry service (ten times the cost in Bangkok!) When initially looking at Phuket accommodation, we found it difficult as one of the 2 kids was 13 and therefore considered an adult when booking elsewhere, which then in turn eliminated any "family room" options which I daresay would have been tiny anyway. Plus communication hindered this a little, dealing in English was easier with the Australian Manager Peter (well, sorry but it has to be said) he's world famous in Surin haha. The good thing about those people below us on Trip Advisor is that they would have had plenty of space in their apartment on a rainy day. We were initially also thinking of splitting our stay at a big kids club type resort (to suit the kids mainly) but settled on only The Chava and the knowledge of the waterslides and kids club at the Doubletree next door. Wedidn't once need the water slides as we loved the Chava pool - a great set up for everybody. Possibly if we had toddlers or younger kids then the kids club may have appealed on a rainy day, we are fortunate enough to have kids that are happy to entertain themselves easily. The food at Chava is good and there is a good variation on the menu, and of course plenty of local options to try also. Breakfast is all you need. The only possible negative is the eating area in the rain which is currently being addressed by added shade cover and gorgeous looking dining alcoves by the pool. Room service is of course on offer too. We had no drama arranging a taxi across the road, and with Peter's help. We found all staff to be professional at all times and special mention to the housekeeping department. These would be the cleanest apartments I have ever stayed in (apartments usually worn/torn and less clean in my experience). Surin Beach is a smaller bay area, so not a lot of beach to walk/run on in the morning. But since the clean up (I can only imagine it before, as haven't been) the beauty of laying under palm trees having a massage is unbeatable ($8 NZD for a half hour - wow!) There is rubbish around, and the area is currently being excavated which is a little of a negative currently, but don't let this stop you staying here. We loved the quiet beach and also the fact that the locals can visit their own sand and sea again!!!! Although I am unsure about Phuket in general (not the people - they are gorgeous!!) I would choose 100% to stay at the Chava again and would love to see the end result of the improvements that are underway now - please know this doesn't interfere with your stay, although some probably moan as that's what they like to do :) The place is just exactly like the photos - gorgeous pool area as pictured. We met some other awesome holiday goers while at The Chava - oh yes they were kiwis too haha but hey some lovely Australian families also. Thank you to all staff for ensuring we had a wonderful holiday. Don't waste your time searching elsewhere - is all that I can tell you now - you have found the family accommodation to suit you in Surin Beach.
"Amazing place despite the weather"
10/07/14 kr1styn Melbourne, Australia
We stayed in a 2 brm apartment which overlooked the pool for four nights. The apartment was huge, with a massive open plan kitchen, dining and living area which opened out onto a balcony overlooking the pool. The master bedroom also overlooking the pool had a king size bed (with a very hard mattress), and the attached bathroom had a sliding door in front of a huge bath which could be closed off from the bedroom or left open. The second bedroom had two twin beds and there was also a second bathroom with shower, vanity and toilet. All bedrooms also had their own TV’s. The kitchen was fully equipped if you wanted to cook for yourselves, wifi in the apartment was provided and there were ipod docks and speakers in both the lounge room and main bedroom. The apartment was well set out and very clean and tidy. Plenty of towels and robes were provided, as were pool towels in the room. Unfortunately during our stay, the weather was horrible, and rained rather heavily most of the time. Which meant we couldn’t really get out by the pool or go out much in Surin (thankfully this was not our first time in Phuket/Surin). We spent most of our time in the apartment, so we were thankful that it was as nice as it was. Being stuck inside we ended up ordering a lot of room service. They had quite an extensive menu, but as with most Asian places, the western food wasn’t great (we live in Singapore so are more than used to this), but the Thai food was quite delicious. Breakfast which was provided, was quite good as well (except the eggs benedict which were very overcooked), they had an a la carte menu with both western and Thai choices rather than a buffet style which I much prefer. As the seating was outside by the pool we were able to order directly to our room during rain without extra charge. We also ordered in room massages which were great. We found that the staff were very friendly and attentive. Chava does also offer airport transfers, but I would recommend booking through Phuket Shuttle only because of the cost difference, which was half of what was offered by Chava. Overall despite the rain, we enjoyed our time at the Chava, the apartment was exceptional and we're disappointed we didn't get to spend our time by the pool as we had planned, but we do hope to return again soon to the Chava in much nicer weather.

Enjoyed the stay from the first minute right up until the last. Was warmly welcomed by Peter who looked after us the whole time. Rooms were well decked out with heaps of space. Pool was nice and the bar was always open to serve drinks and food. Service was good and the staff were alway ready to help with anything we needed. Its a short walk to one of the nicest beaches you could visit. They have a guard at the front enterence that saluted us and the kids everytime we left the resort and everytime we came back, tought the kids a few Thai words and always smiled. Would definatly recommend and will go back soon.
"Short but Sweet Stay"

Last minute booking, somewhat of an impulse stay! One night only, but staff were very helpful and accommodating. Great apartment, very modern and comfortable. Excellent grounds and well taken care of by friendly staff. Unfortunately, my trip got cut short due to other commitments but I will definitely be back with my family in the future!
"Great place to stay"

This was our first trip to Thailand and we didn't know what to expect. We arrived at the Chava Resort and we felt that we had just landed in a tropical paradise. There was myself and my husband and our teenage daughter plus my sister-in-law and her husband. We had a 3 bedroom apartment and found it extremely spacious and comfortable and never got in each others way. It was always a pleasure at the end of a day touring to come back and relax. Some days we just stayed by the pool and relaxed. Breakfast was the right mix of european and asian foods and the coffee was great. All the staff were courteous and helpful and Peter (GM) was a great source of information and recommendations. We would definitely recommend the Chava Resort and stay there ourselves again.
"Outstanding Resort and Servie"
10/07/14 CarolPitman Nelson
My friend had stayed at Chava and was going back and suggested we come too. It was the most outstanding resort the apartments are huge and very well appointed the smallest is 160 sq m each bedroom has its own bathroom tv dvd player and air conditioning. The bathrooms are very big and you have plenty of space for your clothes in double wardrobes with plenty of mirrors throughout the apartment. The pool area and loungers and day beds are beautiful and pool towels are soft and smell wonderful. The daily breakfast offers plenty of choice and is very very good. The bar and drinks and meals menu has something for everyone. I will be be going back and you will not be disappointed. Peter and his staff offer AAA service and local advise on everything from where to shop to what to do while in Phuket. Look no further stay here. Carol Nelson New Zealand
"Comfortable smaller hotel with suites for families"
10/03/14 CarolD448 Singapore, Singapore
We stayed at The Chava Resort for a week with both our children and my octogenarian parents. Their three bedroom suite was under construction forcing us to take two two-bedroom suites/apartments since the 4 bedroom apartment was already booked. Each apartment was lovely, had a nice living area, kitchen table and full kitchen. The bedrooms were plenty spacious and comfortable. (The rugs slipped if you walked on them wrong so we moved those out for my parents' room. Would recommend the same if you had small children with you.) The pool was lovely and all rooms overlook the pool. The ground floor apartments have private patios whereas the second and third floor apartments have balconies. The restaurant/bar is small and offers a variety in food choices. The restaurant needs some help in getting all food out at once (my daughter's meal came out after everyone else's meal was eaten and cleared) but they did apologize after we complained about it and tried to do better afterwards. They also took a little while to set tables to accommodate the size of the parties at their small hotel. We were a party of six who had to make our table of 6 each time we came down to the restaurant for a drink or meal. By the end of the week they got the hang of it though and were always pleasant. The food quality is good enough and breakfasts in particular were very consistent. The bar staff also learned how to tell everyone what was on special during happy hour, not just a few people, as time went on. All of these comments are niggling issues which wouldn't dissuade us from staying here again. (I would actually give the hotel a 3.5 on service but since this is not possible, I rounded up instead of down since overall we enjoyed our time here.) The staff would always help in booking activities for us and get transportation for our adventures. What I liked best about The Chava Resort was the ability to stay in spot which met all of our variable needs and the fact that they could admit that they could do better to meet their guests needs. And they did improve as time went on. I recommend The Chava Resort as a lovely spot to stay while in Phuket.
