"Reasonable rate and nice hotel"
I thought it was nice. I was upgraded to a suite free of any additional charges, because no rooms were available for the price I purchased. The bedroom is dark because no windows and overhead light but ideal for sleeping. The air vent is loud and you can also hear the water running after the air cuts off which is loud so don't get room 101 in the hotel […] across the street which is apart of them. Lastly, don't be in a rush cause they only have two people working the front desk and although they have several parking attendants it was 30 minutes to get my car in the parking deck across the street. I stayed at this hotel for one night since i was on transit to south america, when we got to the hotel it was raining and we went to the wrong building (they have 3). no one came to us to ask if we would like an umbrela and it was another client that told us that reception is across the Street. when we got to the room we didn't really unpack since i […] was leaving the next day. we check ou and left the next day. when i got to where i was going and unpacked i realized i was missing a Brand new perfum that i had just gotten at the duty free before traveling. went back to the hotel after my trip and all they could tell me is that they have not seen it. i was sure it was there and left it on top of the sink where they have a glass shelf same color as the bottle of perfum. first time i stay at a hotel for something like this to happen. I stayed at the Riviera South Beach March 8-12, after getting double booked at a much less expensive hotel. Expedia had to upgrade us last minute and we could not be more happy about the way things turned out. The Riviera South Beach is a clean hotel, 2 short blocks from the water (5 minutes). The hotel has three separate facilities with two pools, […] one roof top. The hotel also is connected to a tasty cuban restaurant, Moreno's. From 7-8pm hotel guests drink for free at the bar. The rooms are clean and the beds are large and comfortable. The room comes with a mini fridge with over-priced beverages, snacks and alcohol but there is a deli conveniently located right next door with delicious cold cuts and cuban food. "A not so excellent place to stay"
I booked this hotel after a bit of research and i was excited to stay in a smaller property with a great location. I am not a fan of a 3 PM check in time and in order to avoid the check in at that time when i had an 9 am arrival i booked an additional day. The room booked was a suite with 690 sq feet not a regular room. When we arrived the front desk […] person told us that the system is down and we have to wait till 3 pm to get us in a room. She confirmed the that they have clean room available but not able to do a paper check in as they are 100% dependent on the computer system. ( really?) When i explained her that we actually reserved a day earlier in order to avoid sitting around in a lobby for hours all i got was attitude and a firm NO . Normally i asked to talk with a manager . She eventually arrived 30 min later and somehow agreed to check us in a room that she claimed that was an upgrade . What we got was a simple room not a suite, that was actually for a person with disabilities definitely less than what we have paid for . I didn't accept that naturally and finally got the room that we booked. The team needs some serious training , especially the " managers" . The check out was another incredible experience. This hotel could be much better. It started with organizing the Airport shuttle, that has the most bizarre pick up times, when it actually decided to show up. My girlfriend arrived at the airport the night before I did and showed up at the pickup point with time to spare, the shuttle never appeared. When calling the front desk 20 min after the proposed […] time, they told her that the shuttle had been there, and 'never saw her.' The reply was essentially 'too bad, so sad. you'll have to wait for the next shuttle' In 2 hours. The signage on the bus is pretty tiny, without asking you would never know what bus you are supposed to get. The exact same thing was also mentioned by other guests that we ran into over the course of the stay. It doesn't sound like it was a surprise to the staff. When I eventually showed up in a cab at 7 am , the following morning(shuttle doesn't start till 9), the front desk couldn't be bothered. When I asked to get a key to my room, I was told to 'wait a minute.' I was patient to start with, thinking that there must be something that just couldn't wait. It wasn't long before I realized the agent was writing a full on email, with me standing right in front of them. Easily irritated, and confused would properly describe the next 5 min of the front desk agent. The bill also got messed up, keep an eye out for hidden fee's. '$20 hotel fee/day' ??? Besides the unpublished rate they charge you resort fee. Also they charge you with vallet parking daily, which BTW they take at least 45 min to give you the car. The whole staff was super nice and accommodating to me and my boyfriend. Rented the king balcony room for 2 nights. Only downside is there was no fridge or microwave, slow to check in/out, mandatory valet that's 35/day and for some reason the shower water kept coming out super hot/cold. Walking distance to all the attractions of South Beach, as well as access to supermarkets and quieter areas. "Bad surprise in the arrive"
I proceeded a big research in the internet to find a good hotel in South Beach area. My biggest desire was a hotel that had suites with separate living room and bedroom, because I would travel with my husband and two kids. Riveira South Beach Hotel seemed to be a good option and we payed (with two months in advance) for two suites of this kind: one […] to my family of four and another to my parents in law. When we arrived at the hotel, they said that our rooms were not available, and tried to send us to another hotel of the same group. But the other hotel was not so close to Lincoln Rd, and we would need a car to go there. We didn't accept and then they offered a common room to my parents in law and the penthouse to us. Penthouse was a big room with a big varanda, but didn't worked well to our family of four: there were no closets, the smell of smoke was strong and the lightening was very weak. They probably rent the penthouse to parties and other events... Two days after, we had to move to another room that would be the ours since the first day. It was inconvenient, because I was very ill and we lost precious time packing and unpacking things. Alex (the night manager of Riveira) was very kind and tried to compensate us with some vouchers to breakfast and a nice birthday cake to me. This hotel looked great from the pictures and from the reviews I read however when I got to the hotel they were swarmed with people checking in at their very tiny checkin desk. When I finally got to check in and get my room key they accidentally gave me a downgraded room which looked like it had been under a construction zone... When I looked online […] at the description of the room I didn't realize that ALL of the wall, ceiling & floor surfaces would be made out of cement and that there would be construction paint on the ceiling of our room when I booked this hotel. Not only was this hotel not what I was expecting, my wife informed me that she could hear everything going on outside of the hotel while I was getting the room situation worked out. I was upgraded to a different room in a different building (across the street - they own three buildings and this was #3) which turned out to be quite nicer than the last. Out stay was pleasant being in a suite however the overall stay in the rooms was fare with the bed being so plush that you sank into it when you laid down and the water temperature being below what I'd call a 'Hot' shower. Check in was very slow and several people were becoming a little frustrated. Rooms are small but nice. Some minor items needed attention. When comparing hotel cost add in approximately $50 per day-there is a $15/day resort fee and the only parking is valet at $32/day or as we were told you can use city parking but you have to return and buy more time […] every three hours. "Poor customer service"
The facilities were great, but the customer service was terrible. I waited for half an hour at checkout to pay for my resort fee. I paid cash and no receipt was given. I didn't even ask because nobody was getting receipts and everybody was in a bad mood. Evidently they were switching their computer system to another one, and everything was in disarray. "Nice amenities for a quick getaway"
The Riviera Suites were wonderful. The rooms are a bit small but in Miami your time should be spent on the beach! The only downside to the rooms was not enough outlet to plug in all your devices. Street parking is only for the residents that live in the neighborhood with a parking sticker. There are signs all over that state this as well. I am sorry that you were not aware of this.

For the first time I did the pig in a poke commit now get details later reservation. It turned out well. The Riviera Suites is very well appointed comfortable place. A bargain for South Beach at the half price we paid. Check in was slow, maybe people, maybe computer software, maybe just busy. Our room was much nicer than usual for us but even cheap […] motels have fridge and microwaves. The cable channel choices were poor. The sink was uncomfortably small tucked into an alcove.
