This is a lovely country hotel. I booked because I was working nearby but enjoyed the warmth and comfort of the room and restaurant during my stay, The fruit bowl was a lovely touch.

Perfect location for the Peak district and Lyme Park, incredible view from bedroom window. Sat nav took us straight to postcode so easy to find, plenty of parking. Room nicely decorated and spotlessly clean, plenty of toiletries and loved basket of fruit and fresh milk. Restaurant pleasant with traditional pub food - a little bit overpriced for what […] it was but easier than venturing out to local village. Drinks reasonable and nice sitting in the bar afterwards. Staff all incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast a bit early for a Sunday at 8.30-9.30am and check out very early at 10.30am. Overall had a nice stay and would go back. Read more

This is my third visit on business and I hope to next time make it a social stay. The hotel is in a beautiful setting and the service and food are really good. Cleanliness is great and I like the added touches of a thermos of fresh milk (so much better than those UHT cartons) and fresh fruit. Cannot fault this pub, so much better than many local hotels. Lots of little extras to make your stay a pleasure. Food of a high standard and breakfast fit for a king. Good mixture of people staying, business and leisure, busy bar with friendly locals. I always enjoy my stay.

A lovely hotel with very pleasant staff and a superb chef. A good choice of real ales and a roaring log fire. Busy but not full every evening with locals eating from a varied menu. Our room (no.7) had lovely views across the valley. Will definitely be returning.

Our stay at the Pack Horse Inn was excellent, although it was a bit off the beaten track to the NW of the centre of the Peak District at New Mills. Our Rooms were excellent (Superior) & had everything that you would wish for. The breakfast was (full English) was also of very high quality & set us up for the day. The staff were welcoming and very helpful throughout the time we stayed there. Our room was lovely, very clean and comfortable with excellent facilties. The hotel is in a beautiful area within easy access of the Peak District and all it has to offer. We had a lovely few days away in a gorgeous hotel.

The Pack Horse Inn sits high on a hill overlooking some beautful sweeping valleys in the Peak District. My wife and I had attended a family celebration nearby and decided to stay overnight and visit Lyme Park (about 3 miles away) the following day. Like other reviewers we were impressed by the overall presentation of the room - the fresh fruit basket […] was a delicious treat - and the fact that good food was available in the pub downstairs so no problem having wine with our meal. We also liked the helpful, friendly staff. The only problem came the following morning when we tried to turn on the mixer tap for a bath or shower. It was stuck fast and would not move. Not a good start to the day! To be fair to the hotel, the bathroom seemed new so this may have been a teething problem. They also made a shower available in a different room after breakfast (though I did have to ask specifically for it) so I certainly wouldn't complain about the treatment we received. Overall, a very nice place but try the plumbing the night before! Read more

We stayed at the Pack Horse in over the Easter long weekend. We were very happy with the accommodation. We had a standard room, which was spacious and clean, and we also appreciated the little touches such as a bowl of fresh fruit, bottled water, and a good selection of teas. The breakfast was delicious, with a choice of cooked or continental options. Only […] slight reservation is that the vegetarian selection at the restaurant wasn't that inspired. It probably won't matter to most people, but if you're a vegetarian you only get to choose from a tired vege curry, or a bean chilli...I think there was one more thing as well, but these are things which I could cook at home and which don't excite me at all. I would have liked to see something a little more considered, for example with goat's cheese or aubergine... just something outside of a vegetarian's normal staples. But other than that, it was a perfect base for exploring the Peak district, the staff were kind and helpful, and we couldn't fault the room at all. Read more

Best B&B ever. Clean, new, great staff, good food, nice location, easy to travel by train to Manchester. Vi bodde ovanpå puben. Rummet var fräscht, rent och supermysigt. Puben var mycket mysig, det kom barnfamiljer och sällskap dit och åt på kvällen. Maten var jättegod, servicen utmärkt och alen jättegod (provsmakningsbricka!). Det var gångavstånd ner […] till stan och tågstationen. Bilen kunde man parkera vid B&B och gå ner till tåget. Tåget till Manchester tog 15 minuter och gick 1g/h, smidigt! Read more
