1. I reserved this hotel through Expedia. At the web page said that the rooms have air conditioning, but what didn't explain is that the air conditioning system works just when its hot outside, if the weather outside is what they think its cold enough they disconnect the air conditioning system. We stayed here twice in the past couple of weeks. Side tour in between.The place is nice, reasonable sized rooms for two people, and updated. They have a bar for late night drinks, free wi-fi, and the breakfast looked awesome. I don't really do breakfast at 14Euros, but if you are into that? It did look good. I recommend.

The staff were all incredibly friendly, knew alot and extremely helpful. Hotel was in safe location, 3 blocks from Foch metro and then 2 stops and you were in Old Lyon or 15 minute straight shot walk. Room was clean, good size, door lock was temperamental (old fashioned key lock) but you just had to finesse it alittle. The hotel is in a great location, close to metro stops and little grocery stores. My room was comfortable and quite good for the money (double bed, decent private bathroom, windows that opened, climate control). Although there was no writing desk, there was an area where a chair could be pulled up in front of the window for writing. The room would have […] been cramped for a couple (I was travelling alone), but for the price, the space was what I expected. Problems: 1) Broken lock: The front desk is only manned by one person, so that when they get busy you will have to wait. On checking in I got locked out of my room because the lock was broken and my key wouldn't work. The front desk was so busy that they just kept sending me up to my room (third floor) with different keys to try. Eventually the front desk attendant came up with me and figured out how to force the door to open, but it was a frustrating experience. 2) Inconsistent wireless internet: Only worked about half of the time during my stay. Once they had someone fix it, it worked pretty well, however. 3) Lack of north american power adaptors: Although they had some power converters for UK travelers, they didn't have any north american adaptors, so it will be best to bring your own. Note, however, the television cord could be removed and fit into my Macbook power brick. This worked nicely, once I discovered it. 4) Expensive breakfasts: I had breakfast at the hotel every morning, which was nice enough (pastry, coffee, juice, cheese, yogurt, breads were available). What I didn't realize was that they charge 14 Euros per breakfast. In my opinion, this was not worth the money at all. I chose to stay at the Hotel Roosevelt because I was travelling alone to a meeting at the Congress Centre. I would certainly agree with the positive ratings for this hotel.The hotel is clean. The staff are friendly. The beds are hard but otherwise ok. The bathroom was clean. There was wi-fi in the room. The morning breakfast is optional but worth it. […] There is a coffee/hot chocolate machine, There are fresh coldcuts, cheese, bread, cereal and juice. There is a small bar in the eveings. The staff were helpful when I needed to leave luggage in their locked storage room. I left my i-pad in the room (charging, on the floor), but they contacted me immediately by email, so I was able to return and pick it up that evening. The location was very convenient. It was three blocks from two different metro stations. It was three blocks from the bus C4 that went to the Congress Centre. It was walking distance to a great shopping street. There were pleasant restaurants in the neighbourhood. There were a couple of small grocery stores about 2-3 blocks away. It was walking distance to the old town with beautiful old buildings, great shops and many pleasant restaurants and pubs. I took a cab when I came back from a restaurant later at night, but otherwise felt very safe walking in the neighbourhood. I would certainly recommend this hotel for someone staying a few days in Lyon, especially if attending the Congress Centre nearby. Read more

Good location for walking into the town centre. Excellent friendly staff including reception, restaurant and room service personnel. Breakfast a little limited but this is standard in France. Everything was super fresh though! Free WIFI is also really handy.

The Roosevelt was very clean, modern and the rooms were large and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. The only thing to consider is the location. There are very few restaraunts or bars in the area so be prepared to walk the 10 - 15 mins toward the river to find somewhere to eat.

The Hotel Roosevelt is a small and understated hotel in a quiet neighborhood. Our room (Superior Double)was very comfortable and well maintained. A bottle of 500ml mineral water at 4 euro for this class hotel seems a little too high to me. The weather was very hot around 35-38degress in Lyon when we stayed in August 2011. We had to drink a lot of water from the in-room minibar until we found a supermarket near by in about 5minutes' walk. There, we were able to buy a 1.5litre bottle for less than half euro! The Hotel is centrally located between two subway stops. We were in walking distance to Les Halles Paul Bocuse and the large shopping mall. We dined at two neighbourhood restaurants Le Rive Gauche and Casareccio and had delicious meals. We also dined at Le Nord and Le Sud and Brasserie Georges.

L'isolation de la chambre était médiocre, on entendait tout ce qui se passait dans les chambre d'à côté. De plus, en étant sur la rue au 1er étage, il y avait beaucoup de circulation. En ce qui est du parking, c'est un peu cher 15 euros pour un parking qui n'est pas couvert. Par contre, les réceptionnistes sont très agréables.

Bra men väldigt varmt på rummet, och då var vi här i mitten av Maj. Bo inte här Juni-Augusti, om ni inte vill ha 35 grader på rummet. Det finns AC, den låter som en traktor, men kyler knappt ingenting. Håller med andra recensioner: det är inte 4*, kanske 2+* eller 3*.

L'accueil était exécrable. Nous avons vraiment eu l'impression de déranger le personnel. L'accès du garage à l'hôtel est minable, par des escaliers sales et sans aucun service. La chambre est minuscule, l'isolation est en carton, la baignoire certes profonde mais n'est assez large que pour une personne très fluette. La condensation sur les vitres a […] transformé le bureau en piscine et tout ce qu'il y avait dessus en serpillère. Le fameux bar lounge n'est qu'un salon où il faut passer soi même derrière le comptoir pour espérer être servi après 15 minutes d'attente. Le personnel nous a fait un scandale au téléphone (seul intérêt que le personnel à porté à notre attention) pour récupérer un parapluie lors d'une sortie alors que nos bagages et notre voiture étaient encore dans l'enceinte de l'établissement. Un 4 **** qui ne les mérite absolument pas. Les seuls points positifs sont: La situation de l'hôtel et la literie correcte. A fuir absolument, surtout pour un séjour romantique. Read more
