"How to relax"
An excellent B&B with the hosts nothing seemed too much to help, the use of local produce and home baked bread. If in the area worth the extra drive to useGenuine Expedia guest review
Stayed at this bed and breakfast while visiting Durham for our daughter's graduation ceremony. Although half an hour from Durham, we could not have made a better choice of accommodation. Peter was so welcoming and could not do enough for us - he even got up to do our breakfast at 6am as we had to leave at 6.30! Recommend to anyone!Genuine Expedia guest review
"A home away from home"
A great start to our time in England. Peter & Margaret were excellent hosts - friendly conversation and advice, helpful directions and maps, good advice on where to eat etc. A real home away from home! Local pub "Cross Keys" only 5 minutes walk from B&B with well priced food and wine.Genuine Expedia guest review

The owners did everything possible to ensure that we had a comfortable stay. The bedroom was a good size and we also had the use of a guest lounge, complete with wood burning stove. Breakfasts were excellent and included healthy and less healthy but very tasty options.

Very friendly. Tea and cake when you arrive in the lounge and you are made to feel like this is your own home. The bedrooms are fantastically clean and well ordered. Breakfast is freshly prepared to order. Some of the guests stay for extended periods which shows how much they like it. Really good and I expect to stay again when I need to be near Durham.

Dale End is a lovely B&B and is very different from all other hotels i've stayed in. The service is highly personal and friendly and the owners make you feel so welcome and at home. The house is luxourious and spotless and the room I stayed in was spacious, comfortable and cosy. Breakfast was perfect as was everything else. Nice firm bed - not the usual B&B hammocks that you can sometimes encounter! If you want a pleasant, quiet and comfortable stay over then this is the place for you.

Tea or Coffee and cake on arrival, the attentiveness: 'is there anything particular you'd like for breakfast - one of our guests preferred grapefruit juice'. Lovely spacious en-suite room. Superb breakfasts, gorgeous bread and the muffins I had with the poached eggs,; Delicious. This may sound over the top but it's true.

Margaret and Peter are the lovely owners of Dale End, nothing is too much trouble. they are so friendly and helpful. The accommodation is the best we have stayed in, in England. Breakfast was fantastic, bed very comfy and a large room with ensuite. We would highly recommend if you want a peaceful getaway. Also, the Cross Keys pub, 5 mins up the road, great food!

Dale End is a lovely B&B on the edge of a quiet village ideal for visiting Hamsterley Forest. The owners of this lovely bungalow are very welcoming with tea & homemade cakes on arrival. There is also a pub down the road with good food. It's an ideal location if you are a cyclist and doing the Walney to Wear cycle route. Dale End has lock up storage for your bikes.

Margaret and Peter run a first class B&B. They are welcoming and friendly and go out of their way to make your stay an enjoyable one. The rooms are bright and and spacious and the beds are very comfortable with feather pillows and duvets. We spent a week at Dale End on a walking holiday in the Durham Dales and every day we received the same high standard of friendly service. Breakfasts were excellent and reasonable meals were to be found at the local inn on an evening. I would definitely recommend staying here.

The welcome was so warm that the owner answered our request for directions for a nearby shop selling wrapping paper by bringing her own scissors, Sellotape and wrapping paper. All this while serving complimentary afternoon tea with homemade cake. The house is a warm family home, and is immaculately clean and tidy. Excellent breakfast, which was hugely welcome after a late night. Can highly recommend.
